Chapter 245: At Least It Is Funny…
A question that shouldn’t be spoken…I shall speak it! Will I ever regret this? No, absolutely not; it really isn’t even that big of a deal. I mean, it’s not nowadays, though it certainly was when Fiona experienced it.
Time heals all wounds, which is doubly so for Higher Beings, with our (mostly) endless lives. Either way, the Mermaid won’t know the full truth, and I’ll merely be laughing inwardly. Such is the way that I’ve chosen to go about this evil act of mine…
Vulely: “What kind of animal was the Ancient Monster you faced, and why did it attack you?” I ask with a curious tone.
Fiona: “It was a very large shark. As for why it attacked…I have no idea. Maybe it was just overly territorial? All I did was happen to be swimming next to it…” She answered with confusion.
Vulely: “Did it speak, or tell you its name before it tried killing you? Not every Ancient Monster is the silent type, in my experience.” I replied with a thinking pose.
Fiona: “Vulely, d-does any of that matter now? It isn’t here to hurt me; and, with Celia present, nothing could ever threaten any of us. I have no doubt that absurd woman has gotten much, much stronger since I last saw her.” She said with a raised eyebrow.
Vulely: “While that’s true, what if it still seeks to finish you off? Whatever you know about it… might help us in dealing with that shark.” I answered with a coaxing, serious tone.
Damn fishy woman is being stubborn… Just let me have my silent fun, already! Please, I haven’t gotten my fill of being cheeky in so long… If there were Norse Higher Beings involved in this narration, my name would surely be Loki!
Even ignoring my bullshit, this is a good thing to do. It’ll let Fiona get this whole situation off her chest, and then she likely won’t bring it up again. So, in that sense, I am actually doing something charitable, wise, thinking of the future. I will take this (if what happened is what I think is what happened) to my grave, which shall never exist!!!
Fiona: “I see your point, yeah. He attacked quite quickly, only saying his name before launching Magic at me. Xinobouk was his name, I think? It happened all so fast, so I’m not sure…” She explained with a sigh.
Vulely: “Ah, so it was who I thought it was that attacked you. There are probably many Ancient Sharks around, but names are unique.” I mused with a relieved tone.
Fiona: “…”
Vulely: “?”
Fiona: “It…that Xinobouk…is someone that your group knows? T-then…why did he try to end me?” She asked in grand confusion and confliction.
Vulely: “No idea, and neither of us thought to ask. We weren’t aware of you being a victim of his, after all. Don’t worry, Celia has already dealt with him; so there isn’t any threat to your life around anymore, Fiona.” I clarified with a laugh.
Fiona: “( ’-’ ~)”
