Inside the Convocation chamber, floating thrones of different materials circled a wide platform of pure white stone. The space existed between realms, accessible only by Progenitors. Today every seat was filled. The Dragon Progenitor, Kaelthos, lounged on a throne of molten bronze, scales gleaming. Across from him sat the Spirit Progenitor, Nyxara, her form half-transparent and shifting like mist. The Witch Progenitor, Elara, stood rather than sat, black robes swirling around her feet. Dera occupied the Human seat, still new to the power of the Authority. Lilith and Damaris shared the Demon and Vampire thrones side by side. The Werewolf Progenitor, Fenrir, growled low under his breath. The Kitsune Progenitor, Inari, flicked nine golden tails in quiet irritation. Michael, the Angel Progenitor, kept his wings folded tight. The Shadow Progenitor, Void, was barely visible—an empty space that watched everything.
Elara raised a hand. The chamber dimmed.
"I called this meeting because of a divination," she said. Her voice carried easily. "I saw two beings enter our universe. They move with purpose. They began their destruction in the Vampire Realm. The first thing they struck was Lucian—Lucifer’s clone. They examined him, then declared he was not the one they sought. After that the vision showed the realm burning."
Silence settled over the thrones.
Lilith’s expression turned solemn. "They are looking for my son."
Elara nodded. "That is the only conclusion that fits. The clone was a test. They want the original."
Kaelthos leaned forward, bronze scales scraping. "How strong are these two?"
"Not as strong as the First Progenitor," Elara answered. "But close enough to be dangerous."
At the mention of the First Progenitor the entire chamber went still. Even Void’s empty space seemed to tighten.
Michael’s wings shifted. "You say they are not that strong. From what I recall, it took everything we had—our combined might—just to leave a scratch on her. And that was after she had already been weakened."
Fenrir snarled. "That thing nearly wiped half of us out before we drove her back. If these two are even half that level, we are in serious trouble."
Inari’s tails slowed. "We still do not know where they come from or what they truly want beyond Lucifer. Giving them what they ask for might buy time."
Dera spoke carefully. "Lucifer is not just another Progenitor. He is the reason Adam is gone. He is the reason the Human Authority sits with me instead of a tyrant. We cannot simply hand him over."
Kaelthos scoffed. "We have immortality. We can create more like him if needed. Risking every realm for one hybrid is foolish. Hand him over and be done with it."
The temperature in the chamber dropped. Damaris, who had been silent until now, vanished from his throne. In the next breath he stood in front of Kaelthos, one hand already driven through the Dragon’s chest plate. Golden light poured from the wound. Kaelthos’s eyes widened in shock.
"You know what I could do before I died," Damaris said, voice quiet and cold. "Imagine what I can do after resurrection. Speak that way about my son again and your head will leave your body before you finish the sentence."
He pulled his hand free. Kaelthos staggered, the wound already closing under dragon regeneration, but the point had been made. Damaris returned to his seat as if nothing had happened. Lilith smiled faintly beside him. Dera sat frozen, witnessing the full, casual violence of an older Progenitor for the first time and wondering how far she herself still had to grow.
Kaelthos recovered with a low growl. "Still as feisty as ever. Fine. But we cannot risk open war against beings that strong. They will kill us."
Elara raised both hands, silencing the rising arguments. "Fighting among ourselves solves nothing. And handing Lucifer over changes nothing. My divination was clear—their goal is not only the hybrid. Once they have him, or once they decide the universe is no longer useful, they will destroy the rest of it. Our fates are already tied to his."
Nyxara’s mist form flickered. "Then we prepare for war."
Void’s voice emerged from the empty space. "We prepare carefully. We do not know their true numbers or their origin. Rushing in will only get more of us killed."
Michael nodded slowly. "I will send scouts to the edges of the Vampire Realm. Quiet ones. If these two are already there, we need confirmation before we move."
Fenrir cracked his knuckles. "My packs will be ready. If the Vampire Realm falls, the rest of us are next."
Inari’s tails stilled completely. "I will begin reinforcing the barriers between realms. It will not stop them, but it may slow them."
Damaris looked around the circle, golden eyes hard. "My son is not a bargaining chip. Anyone who treats him as one will answer to me. We stand together, or we fall separately. Choose carefully."
Elara let the words settle before speaking again. "Then it is decided. We do not surrender him. We prepare. And we wait for the moment these hunters show their full strength. When that moment comes, every Progenitor in this chamber will answer the call."
No one argued further.
The Convocation ended the way it always did—without ceremony. One by one the Progenitors left their thrones, returning to their own realms with the weight of the coming storm already pressing on their shoulders.
Only Damaris and Lilith remained a moment longer.
"He will not thank us for this," Lilith said quietly.
Damaris stared at the empty white platform. "He does not need to thank us. He only needs to survive long enough for us to reach him."
Outside the chamber, across the sealed universe, two Reavers continued their search, unaware that the oldest powers of this reality had finally begun to move.
