Chapter 314: Seeds of the Loom

5 min read

The void around them hummed with quiet power as Lucifer lowered himself onto a shard of crystallized memory that had formed itself into a seat. Aeloria remained standing, her silver-streaked hair drifting in a wind that existed only because she willed it. The realm she had shaped felt alive, watchful, like it was breathing in sync with their conversation."Before you face what comes next," she said, voice soft but carrying the weight of dead stars, "you need to understand what godhood truly means. Not the stories mortals tell. Not the pale echoes your kind calls divinity. Real godhood is consumption and creation in the same breath."

Lucifer leaned forward, elbows on his knees, listening. The change inside him still thrummed—raw, unsettled, like his body was still catching up to what he had become.

"Check your system," she told him.

He raised an eyebrow but did as she asked. The interface bloomed in his vision, no longer the old cold panels but something deeper, crimson-edged and heavy with presence.

Lucifer stared at the screen for a long moment, genuinely stunned. The numbers, the new abilities, the sheer weight of what he had become—it hit harder than any battle. "This... this is beyond anything I expected."

Aeloria’s lips curved. "Come on. I made you. In turn, I had influence over that system, even if it wasn’t of my original design. I know its shape. I helped guide its evolution."

He raised a brow, suspicion sharpening his gaze. "If it wasn’t yours, then who made it? Who gave me the system in the first place?"

She shrugged, a graceful motion that sent ripples through the floating islands around them. "I don’t know. Not for certain. It could have been your unrelenting will refusing to die. Or the accumulated power and desperation of your father Damaris bleeding into reality when he fell. Or perhaps your unique heritage—vampire, demon, and that stolen Human Authority—created a resonance strong enough to manifest something new. The Loom works in mysterious ways, even for us. Sometimes seeds plant themselves."

Lucifer absorbed that, fingers drumming once against his knee. "So I’m an accident on top of an experiment."

"Beautiful accidents are my favorite kind," she replied with a faint smile. "Forget about its origin for now. Look at what you have. New abilities. New potential. Blood Manipulation and Umbrakinesis at Pseudo-Divine level mean you don’t just control them anymore—you are them. The blood in your enemies’ veins can turn against them with a thought. Shadows can swallow concepts if you push hard enough."

She gestured, and faint holographic projections appeared in the air between them—demonstrations of power. A droplet of blood shaping itself into a blade that cut through reality. Shadows forming a barrier that erased incoming attacks from existence. "To improve further, you consume. Stronger blood. Ancient relics. Fragments of dead gods. Each one pushes your core higher. But true godhood... that requires more."

Aeloria’s expression grew serious. She sat across from him on another formed shard, leaning forward. "There are stages. Pseudo-Divine is the threshold. Next comes True Divine—where you can create pocket realms like this one, rewrite minor laws of existence. Then Apex Divine, where entire universes bend to your narrative. And beyond that..." She trailed off, eyes distant. "The Loom itself. Where beings like me once stood. I was close to it once. I could spin new realities from nothing, unmake failing ones with a whisper. But after the war with my brother, I’m diminished. A shadow of what I was. That’s why you must grow stronger than I ever did. Stronger than he expects."

She paused, letting the weight settle. "One of my failed experiments... the Adversaries. I tried to create perfect enforcers. Beings of pure termination. They were supposed to prune threats to balance. Instead, they became hunger incarnate. They broke free, twisted my design, and now they hunt anything with potential—including you. You can find their nests in the fractured layers between realms, places where dead universes bleed together. End them, and you remove one of my brother’s favorite tools. But the original experiment that birthed them... that being is still out there somewhere. She will be a foe to you. One day."

Lucifer absorbed every word, the new system interface still glowing faintly at the edge of his vision. The power felt immense, intoxicating, but the warnings grounded him. "Then I start with the Adversaries. After that... your brother."

Aeloria’s smile returned, sharp and approving. "Good. Rest here a moment. The next trial will test whether you can wield what you’ve gained without breaking."

The realm around them shifted subtly, preparing. Lucifer closed his eyes briefly, feeling the weight of Pseudo-Divine power settle into his bones. He was no longer climbing. He was becoming.

And the path ahead demanded everything he had left to give.
