Third Person’s POVTo her, he was an invaluable chess piece capable of helping her achieve seemingly impossible ambitions, not a genuine partner deserving of complete honesty regarding the circumstances surrounding his own position within the academy.
At the same time, Ethan couldn’t help but suspect that she had deliberately withheld this information to punish him for his unbending and arrogant attitude towards her over the past few days and make him suffer somewhat at the hands of that dangerous old man Dominic.
After all, despite her beautiful appearance and gentle smile, this woman was still one of the rulers of the Northern Glacial Region.
Someone who could scheme against her own enemies and allies alike would naturally never possess a temperament as gentle as the one she displayed before others.
Naturally, such behavior only reinforced Ethan’s distrust towards this beautiful and manipulative Queen.
At the same time, he couldn’t care less who heard this shocking revelation, including Aria.
As for Erius, he was the very person who had orchestrated the chain of events that eventually led to Ethan’s Mana Veins being sealed and him being forced to cooperate with Shixea’s plans in the first place.
Naturally, there was no possibility that he wouldn’t know how Ethan had entered the hallowed Violet Batch.
Aria, however, was entirely different.
Her beautiful blue eyes widened ever so slightly upon hearing those words, and she couldn’t help but feel somewhat shaken.
Throughout the five years she had spent within the academy, she had always regarded the Crystal Formation Batch as something sacred and untouchable.
Countless talented mages had risked their lives fighting for scarce cultivation resources and dangerous opportunities merely for the chance to stand among those elite forty.
Even she herself had only managed to secure one of those coveted seats after years of relentless hard work and countless dangerous missions.
Yet now, she had suddenly discovered that there existed methods of entering the Violet Batch that lay completely beyond her understanding.
More importantly...who exactly was this mysterious young man, and how was he related to her aunt Shixea?
He had seemingly appeared from nowhere, casually walked into the academy, and immediately become one of the forty Crystal Formation students.
The more she learned about him, the more unfathomable he appeared.
While Aria silently contemplated those questions, Shixea merely laughed softly, her beautiful eyes curving into crescents as she looked towards Ethan’s somewhat sarcastic expression.
"You seem surprised that the Headmaster knew about your existence, Young Master Eryndor."
"Surely, you didn’t truly believe that someone could enter the most prestigious batch of the New Moon Magic Academy without the Headmaster knowing about it beforehand?"
Ethan remained silent.
Naturally, she had once again cleverly avoided the true point of his statement.
He hadn’t known anything about the academy’s internal workings, nor the role he was expected to play after entering it, so how could he have known that the violet batch was such a big thing in the academy?
Seeing her effortlessly divert the conversation elsewhere once again, Ethan immediately lost interest in pursuing the matter any further.
There was little point questioning someone whose greatest talent seemed to be speaking endlessly without actually revealing anything meaningful.
Therefore, he simply changed the topic altogether.
"Alright."
He leaned further against the chair before casually asking,
"Do you want me to protect your son during tomorrow’s secret realm expedition?"
His tone remained as condescending and indifferent as ever, while ignoring Shixea’s prior rhetorical hit at him.
Across the room, Erius immediately lowered his head slightly in an attempt to conceal both the shock and fury filling his eyes.
He truly couldn’t understand the dynamics between Ethan and his mother.
In his eyes, Ethan should have been nothing more than the prize he had won from Arlene, and a useful subordinate.
Someone who would eventually become his loyal follower.
Yet reality seemed completely different from everything he had imagined.
Forget about acting respectfully before him, Ethan didn’t even bother pretending to acknowledge his existence most of the time.
And now this arrogant bastard was casually speaking to his mother—the Second Queen of the Northern Glacial Region in a tone that could only be described as dismissive.
For a brief moment, a thought suddenly surfaced within Erius’ mind.
He subconsciously glanced towards Shixea, as he wanted to know how she would respond this time, now that this bastard had even started to insult him.
To his surprise, however, the smile upon her beautiful face remained completely unchanged.
There wasn’t even the slightest trace of anger or dissatisfaction visible within her expression.
It was as though Ethan’s terrible attitude had become something entirely normal to her long ago.
"Yes."
Shixea nodded gently before continuing in her usual calm voice.
"That is indeed one of the requests I have of you for this expedition, Young Master."
She paused briefly before her pale blue eyes slowly travelled towards both Aria and Erius.
"However, protecting Erius isn’t the main objective I have prepared for tomorrow."
Her beautiful smile deepened ever so slightly.
"The three of you have a completely different and far more important goal awaiting you within the Glaciem Ice Abyss."
As she spoke those words, her gaze quietly swept across Ethan, Aria, and Erius, effectively categorizing the three extraordinary young mages into a single group for tomorrow’s unprecedented realm expedition.
Ethan’s crimson eyes glinted faintly with curiosity as he realized that Shixea was finally about to reveal some of the secrets surrounding this mysterious ancient realm.
The Glaciem Ice Abyss had only been mentioned briefly by old dog Dominic earlier, leaving behind far more questions than answers in everyone’s minds.
Even Ethan, who had already witnessed countless bizarre and unfathomable things since arriving in this world, couldn’t help but become interested in a realm capable of causing such a commotion throughout the entire Northern Glacial Region.
Shixea slowly placed her teacup upon the table before speaking calmly,
"According to what you heard earlier, the Headmaster announced that the Glaciem Ice Abyss had opened fifty years before its stipulated time."
"That statement is perfectly true."
