Chapter 4: Servant Beast Hall

7 min read

An embryonic world... Something you could only stumble upon, never actively seek. And Klein had actually gotten one.

When the news broke, Klein became the subject of no small amount of envy.

"What incredible luck!"

Even Krell, a practitioner of the Path of Nature, couldn’t help but marvel.

"Yes, the academy’s transfer orders for Radak have already been issued. In fifty years, he’ll take over Klein’s position."

"By then, he’ll surely be a Morning Star. You both entered the academy at the same time. Don’t you have any thoughts on the matter?"

Lorne’s focus shifted, turning the conversation back to Krell.

Krell’s mouth twitched. He looked at Lorne, completely exasperated. No matter how Lorne framed it, he was still just pressuring him.

But he couldn’t blame his teacher. By the standards of any other Wizard, he should have already become a Morning Star Wizard.

Yet he was still stuck, unable to break through. It was partly because of the Path of Nature, and partly because other aspects of his cultivation were still incomplete.

"Sigh... In any case, during this expedition, you must break through and become a Morning Star, no matter what. Do you understand? A major event depends on it!"

Lorne said, looking at Krell with exasperation.

Krell nodded. He knew what "major event" Lorne was talking about.

"Alright, just go. I get worked up just looking at you!"

Lorne began shooing him away. Krell nodded, left the palace, and headed for the Teleportation Array to return to Senbai Wizard Academy.

"Sigh... It’s been thousands of years, and that personality of his still hasn’t changed a bit."

Lorne’s exasperated voice echoed through the empty palace.

"Phew, finally done with all the brewing!"

Seven days had passed in the Wizard Inheritance Hall. Andre finished the last order and stretched lazily.

In those seven days, he had brewed a total of over thirty Potions.

That was an average of five to six per day—much slower than his usual brewing Speed.

However, since these were all custom Potions he had never brewed before, the process served as a good test of his knowledge of Pharmacy.

’Time to go to the market, collect the final payments, and buy some materials for Bloodline enhancement Potions. With Seven Rings as cover, even if Selena and her group see me, they won’t be able to say a thing!’

Andre placed the Potions in a box, fed Potato a piece of Honeycomb, tossed a beef bone to Seven Rings, and then flew off toward the market.

After arriving at the market, Andre found a spot and set up his stall. A crowd quickly swarmed him, packing in so tightly you couldn’t get through.

Andre looked at the ever-growing crowd and quieted them down. He then took out the list of custom orders and sold the Potions one by one, collecting the final payments as he went.

By noon, after the owner of the last custom Potion had collected their order, Andre began selling the Potions he had been inspired to create while observing natural Demon Patterns.

By the time he sold all of those Potions, it was already dark. He also had a new batch of custom Potion orders.

Several of these new custom orders were for the same Potions as the first time, but the rest were all new requests.

’If I can brew this entire batch,’ Andre thought, ’my skills in Pharmacy should reach a master’s level. It might be limited to Potions for the Wizard Apprentice stage, but it’s still significant progress.’

Andre put away the order list and began weaving through the stalls, searching for materials to make Bloodline enhancement Potions.

But to his surprise, even after scouring the entire market, he only managed to find enough for four portions.

’How can there be so few?’ Andre didn’t understand.

Logically, plenty of Wizard Apprentices and even Official Wizards at the academy raised their own Magical Beasts. The materials for Bloodline enhancement Potions should have a huge market here.

With such a large market, there should be an abundance of supply. So why was it so scarce?

Puzzled, Andre rummaged in his Storage Ring and, for the first time in a while, pulled out the map he had received from the Wizard Inheritance Hall when he first joined the academy. He unfolded it, using the market lights to get a better look.

After studying the map’s annotations, Andre finally understood why materials for Bloodline enhancement Potions were so scarce at the market.

It turned out that the vast majority of the materials were over at the Servant Beast Hall.

’In that case, I’ll go check it out tomorrow.’

Having set his objective, Andre put the map away and flew back to the Wizard Inheritance Hall.

He could finally get a good night’s rest.

He hadn’t slept well at all during those seven days.

He was either brewing Potions or waiting for the Magic Plants to react.

For these custom Potions, the processing steps for the Magic Plants before brewing were all different.

This meant that the required processing times varied as well.

So even when Andre did manage to sleep, he had to wake up periodically to make adjustments to the materials.

’It’s been so long since I’ve been able to sleep in. Today, I’m going to sleep until I wake up naturally.’

Andre went into his room and fell asleep almost immediately. Before long, the sound of snoring filled the air.

The next day, Andre flew to the Servant Beast Hall. As its name suggested, the Servant Beast Hall was the place in the academy that sold War Servants, Magical Beasts, and Witchcraft Puppets.

Twenty minutes later, Andre flew to the location marked on the map and landed.

The moment he landed, a strange stench assaulted his nostrils.

Andre hastily cast a purification spell of Witchcraft on his nose before heading toward the Servant Beast Hall.

On the way to the Servant Beast Hall, Andre saw many Magical Beasts penned up on both sides of the road, including some unusual races.

There was the Beastman Race, some mixed-blood Elves, Half-blood Demons, and Mixed-blood Demons, as well as some races Andre was seeing for the very first time.

When these creatures saw Andre, they waved at him frantically, hoping he would purchase them.

They were utterly fed up with being cooped up here day after day.

Although the Servant Beast Hall provided them with shelter and daily food, the restrictions imposed by Witchcraft severely limited their range of movement.

’The potential of these races is quite mediocre!’

Andre looked at the creatures waving at him and activated his Eye of Truth, observing the state of the Magic Power and the internal Demon Patterns within their bodies.

He almost wished he hadn’t looked. A single glance filled Andre’s heart with disappointment.

The Demon Patterns and Magic Power in their bodies were pitifully scarce. Even the mixed-blood Elves, who were supposed to have a keen perception of Magic Power, had pathetically little of either.

Granted, this was partly due to the influence of the Witchcraft the Servant Beast Hall had cast upon them.

However, the Demon Patterns within their bodies wouldn’t be affected by Witchcraft.

In other words, judging by their potential alone, none of them were worthy of being purchased by him.

Andre shook his head and quickened his pace toward the Servant Beast Hall.
