Chapter 6: Silent Resistance

7 min read

Andre put everything away in his Storage Ring and left the Servant Beast Hall.

Just as he reached the door, Andre stopped.

He wasn’t short on Battle Pets, but he lacked a Pet Beast to use as a mount.

Seven Rings could temporarily fill that role.

But given Seven Rings’ size, it couldn’t run very far before having to stop.

’I have nowhere to keep it!’ After some thought, Andre resignedly gave up on the idea.

At the moment, he had Potato and Seven Rings, while Radak was holding onto a King of the Stone People and a Stone Giant Tribe for him.

The resource drain from all of them combined was simply too great.

Although Potato, the King of the Stone People, and the Stone Giant Tribe didn’t require him to feed them, once he became an Official Wizard, the King of the Stone People and the Stone Giant Tribe would come under his direct care.

At that point, the drain on his resources would multiply.

’Sigh... It won’t be too late to buy one after the King of the Stone People becomes the King of Black Iron, and the Stone Giant Tribe becomes the Black Iron Realm.’

Andre sighed, walked out of the Servant Beast Hall, formed a Witchcraft Curse Seal with his hands, and shot into the sky, flying toward the Wizard Inheritance Hall.

After that, Andre’s life became quite peaceful.

He spent his days reading to accumulate Truth, concocting Magic Potions to sell for Magic Stones, and occasionally scooping up a few bargains at the market.

But this peaceful life didn’t last long. Half a month later, Krell returned to the academy via the Teleportation Array.

The very first thing he did upon his return was to have Farrete bring Andre to see him.

"Master!" They were in the same place where Diana had first brought Andre to meet Krell.

Selena stood by Krell’s side, her eyes occasionally flicking over to Andre.

Meanwhile, Krell felt a massive headache coming on as he looked at Andre standing next to Farrete.

’He couldn’t believe that something like this had happened in the short time he’d been away from the academy.’

’Selena had completely ruined all his plans.’

’Originally, he’d wanted Selena and Andre to pair up, using their combined Talent Witchcraft to gain an upper hand in the upcoming expedition.’

’But now, the two were clearly at odds. And on top of that, there was the matter of the Secret Realm, which he couldn’t mention to Andre.’

’For a moment, he was at a loss as to how to persuade Andre.’

After thinking for a long while, Krell finally found an opening.

"I had Farrete take you to the Black and White Forest for a four-month mission. Did you complete it?"

"I did. I even showed the proof of completion to Senior Brother Farrete!"

Andre gestured to Farrete, who was standing beside him. Farrete nodded.

"Master, he’s already completed all the tasks. In fact, he exceeded the requirements."

"Yes, I’ve seen the report. But I’m still curious about how you managed to kill six Black Wizards. How did you do it?"

Krell nodded, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes.

"Would you like to try?" Andre asked, pulling the Thousand Extremes Potion from his Storage Ring.

Krell’s expression darkened instantly at Andre’s action. ’Try? Is he telling me to drink this whole bottle of Thousand Extremes Potion?’

’If I drank that, would I even survive?’

"That’s not what he meant!" Farrete snatched the Thousand Extremes Potion from Andre’s hand and looked at him with a resigned expression.

"Then how should I demonstrate? Should I find someone and show the Master what it does?"

Andre retorted, turning to face Farrete.

Farrete rolled his eyes.

’Find someone to test it on? And where am I supposed to find someone for you to use as a guinea pig?’

’Besides, while the academy does have captured Black Wizards for the professors to run experiments on...’

’...most of their crimes aren’t punishable by death.’

’The academy’s experiments on these Black Wizards usually involve excising a piece of tissue, cultivating it in a petri dish, and then performing tests on the resulting culture.’

’But Andre? He just goes straight for the kill.’

"Alright, alright!" Krell rubbed his temples. He knew Andre was just being difficult with him.

’It was his own fault for calling Selena over.’

’Under the circumstances, if Andre had shown no reaction—or worse, had been all smiles with Selena—that would have been truly terrifying.’

’People like that smile to your face while secretly sharpening a dagger, just waiting for the right moment.’

’The moment you let your guard down, they strike from the shadows. You’d be dead before you even knew what hit you.’

"Well, what other way is there? The Master asked me how I killed those six Black Wizards. If I don’t give him a demonstration, he might think I’m lying!"

As he spoke, Andre produced another vial from his Storage Ring. It was clear, but its contents flashed with an intermittent light.

"The Colorless Potion!"

Krell was well-traveled and knowledgeable; he recognized the potion in Andre’s hand at a glance.

Andre nodded, and Farrete, who was standing beside him, hastily backed away ten feet.

"The Colorless Potion... it can kill any living being beneath the realm of a Morning Star Great Wizard. It’s colorless, odorless, and gives off no Magic Power signature. A poisoned individual shows no symptoms until the moment of death, after which their face turns a multitude of colors."

"It has its flaws, of course—it must be ingested to take effect, and the brewing process is exceedingly difficult—but that does nothing to diminish the potion’s deadliness!"

At this, Krell’s expression couldn’t help but turn cautious.

The Colorless Potion in Andre’s hand was something that could kill him.

Although he was considerably stronger than other Level 3 Wizards, he was not a Morning Star Great Wizard. He was still well within the Colorless Potion’s lethal range.

"I have the antidote," Andre said, taking the antidote for the Colorless Potion out of his Storage Ring. Only then did the tension leave Farrete and Krell’s faces.

But then, they both realized something was wrong.

Andre hadn’t taken out the Colorless Potion and the Thousand Extremes Potion to show Krell how he’d killed the six Black Wizards.

He was warning them. He knew what Selena, Jesse, and the others had done to him, and he intended to get his revenge.

If anyone else had made such a threat, Krell and Farrete wouldn’t have given it a second thought.

The disparity in their Realm and Witchcraft mastery allowed them to look down on Andre the way Deities look down on Believers.

But now, everything was different.

Andre was a master of Magic Potions. His Talent for Pharmacy was so high that he could not only brew something like the Colorless Potion, but also its even more complex antidote.

Given the circumstances, who knew what other, more potent poisons Andre had tucked away in his Storage Ring.

If one of those poisons were to somehow "accidentally" find its way into their living quarters, they’d be dead before they even knew what happened.

Faced with this silent threat, Krell’s brow furrowed deeply.

Only now did he realize just how badly Selena and her friends had ruined their relationship with Andre.

It was so bad that Andre was willing to make such a display, completely unafraid that Krell might strike him down in a fit of rage.

’This is such a headache. A real migraine!’

Krell recalled the words of his own master, Lorne, and his headache immediately intensified.
