She frowned and didn’t plan to answer.
But the mobile phone kept ringing nonstop, very much like someone determined not to give up until they got what they wanted.
She took out the mobile phone, glanced at it, and sure enough, it was him.
Sophie Sullivan picked up the telephone, clamped the phone between her ears and shoulder, and pulled out a few pieces of facial tissue to wipe her hand clean.
"Something up?"
On the other end of the telephone, Thomas Shannon’s brow furrowed hard. Something up?
Couldn’t he call her if nothing was up?
Thomas Shannon let out an unhappy cold snort. "Sophie Sullivan, can’t I look for you if nothing’s up?"
"At least not now. I’m busy. If it’s nothing urgent, I’m hanging up."
Sophie Sullivan really was about to hang up, and Thomas Shannon growled, flustered and exasperated, "Wait!"
Sophie Sullivan let out an annoyed sigh. "Say it quickly, I’m very busy."
At this very moment, Thomas Shannon wished he could rush in front of her, pin her in his embrace and give her a good beating.
"Fluffy Zane’s had an accident, did you know?" Thomas Shannon clamped one cigarette between his lips and lowered his head to light it.
Sophie Sullivan’s motions stalled. She raised her voice in surprise. "Who did you say?"
"Fluffy Zane, that friend of yours who stinks just like you, Fluffy Zane."
"What happened to her?"
"It’s not convenient to tell you over the telephone. Come back first, we’ll handle it together."
Sophie Sullivan snorted coldly. Go back to Country A and handle it together?
He hadn’t even told her what affair had happened and already wanted to trick her back to Country A. What a dream.
Sophie Sullivan refused in a proud huff. "I’m not going back."
"Fennie, this affair is no small matter. Whether Fluffy Zane can pull through this, it all depends on you." Thomas Shannon’s tone was heavy, as if Fluffy Zane were about to face death.
Sophie Sullivan’s heart started pounding nervously. She pressed her lips at the corner of the mouth, a chill already surfacing in the depths of her beautiful eyes. "If you want me to go back and deal with it, you at least have to tell me exactly what happened so I can judge for myself whether I should go back."
"Fluffy Zane was wounded by someone."
Sophie Sullivan fell silent.
Fluffy Zane liked William Guillen with hopeless devotion. If the man who forced himself on her man was William Guillen, then Thomas Shannon wouldn’t be making this a phone call to her right now.
Obviously, that person wasn’t William Guillen, which was why Thomas Shannon was making this a phone call.
In other words... Fluffy Zane had been bullied.
Sophie Sullivan untied her apron with one hand and turned to walk outside. "I’ll fly to Country A tonight."
"Mm, I’ll go to the airport to pick you up." Thomas Shannon hooked up the corner of the mouth in satisfaction. It seemed it was about time to let Fennie meet his parents.
Sophie Sullivan hang up the phone, pacing back and forth anxiously in the living room. Gaby followed beside her; as she kept circling, Gaby kept circling too.
One person and one tiger, they were about to make people dizzy.
"Miss Cecilia Branford, what’s wrong with you?" Derek Clark came back from outside and saw this scene. He stepped forward a couple of steps and asked with concern.
Sophie Sullivan turned her head to look at Derek Clark. After thinking it over, she still decided to bring Derek Clark along.
"Derek Clark, go make arrangements. I’m flying to Country A tonight. You’ll go with me; there are some affairs that need you to handle."
"Miss Cecilia Branford, you’re going back to Country A—does Your Highness know?"
"Lucifer is sick, and my friend in Country A ran into trouble. I plan to care for Lucifer for one day and then fly over."
Derek Clark nodded. Without the slightest hesitation, he agreed in one breath. "Yes, Miss Cecilia Branford. I’ll prepare immediately."
Back in the kitchen, Sophie Sullivan followed the Chief Chef to learn how to simmer porridge. Although it couldn’t compare with the Chief Chef’s skills, it barely passed.
She personally carried the freshly simmered thick, soft, glutinous porridge and went upstairs.
Upstairs, the abnormal flush on Lucifer’s face had faded quite a bit, and the doctor and servant were keeping watch over him to the side.
