Chapter 1988: Feeding Rules (29)

7 min read

Recently, news has been filled with updates about the Shang family, and judging by the information released so far, it’s clear their situation isn’t good.

Shang Qi naturally noticed this.

However, he wasn’t bothered by it; he didn’t care whether the Shang family lived or died.

On this day, after finishing a performance and changing into his own clothes, Shang Qi received a call from Shang Yucheng.

"Do you still have things in the manor on the hill?" Shang Yucheng got straight to the point as soon as the call connected.

Shang Qi paused slightly, gripping his phone a bit tighter: "What’s going on?"

"If you have things there, hurry up and pack them. I plan to sell that manor." After Shang Yucheng said this, he couldn’t help but curse: "You’re such a jinx! What did my family do to deserve you, this bane? I regret not strangling you at birth!"

Doo-doo-doo—

The cold busy tone sounded from the phone.

Shang Qi calmly put down the phone and looked at the person in the mirror.

The man had striking features, quietly beautiful, without a hint of sharpness.

The person in the mirror suddenly curved his lips, and that cold face instantly gained vitality, becoming more defined and attractive.

Before, when he received calls from Shang Yucheng, he couldn’t control himself, but now he felt nothing of the sort.

In his heart, he carried more concern for a little fellow who captured his thoughts.

Shang Qi realized there were indeed things in the manor that required handling, so after the performance ended, he bought a ticket to return.

The manor hadn’t been lived in for some time, gathering a layer of dust.

Entering this place again, Shang Qi felt as if he was revisiting something long forgotten.

He directed the bodyguards to tidy up the basement, while he headed upstairs to the music room.

The piano in the music room had long been moved out, leaving the entire room empty.

Standing in the middle of the room, Shang Qi hung his head, lost in thought, until he eventually walked over to the wall.

He pressed his palm against the wall, gently pushing, revealing a passage.

This music room connects to the basement of the small building behind it.

"I won’t be needing you anymore..." Shang Qi murmured softly.

"Sir..." Boss of the guards rushed in, looking like he’d seen a ghost.

"What’s wrong?"

Boss of the guards: "You’d better come take a look yourself."

Following Shang Qi’s instructions, they went to tidy the basement.

But upon opening the basement, they found it empty, with nothing inside.

Last time when Mr. Shang came out of it, they never went down to check.

"Was it like this when you arrived?"

"Uh-huh..." Boss of the guards: "Sir, what’s the situation here?"

Standing in the passage, Shang Qi recalled the day Chuzheng came to find him; was it her doing?

"Seal it up, and don’t mention this to anyone."

Boss of the guards was filled with doubt, wondering where the stuff inside went.

But since Shang Qi didn’t pursue the matter, and he was just paid to follow orders, he quickly followed through.

As Shang Qi descended the hill, he crossed paths with Shang Yucheng’s car on the road.

Shang Qi had his bodyguard pull over, letting them pass first.

Shang Yucheng’s car stopped, and he called out to him.

Then, their cars just faced each other from a distance.

Shang Yucheng wanted Shang Qi to get out and come over, but unfortunately, Shang Qi remained steady, unmoved in his seat.

Ultimately, Shang Yucheng got out, furious, and knocked heavily on the car window: "Shang Qi, get out here."

The window slowly rolled down, and a voice drifted out from inside: "Mr. Shang, I’ve already packed up my things."

"That’s not what I’m talking about!" Shang Yucheng gritted his teeth: "Do you know the current situation of the Shang family?"

"I don’t know about the Shang family’s affairs, nor do I want to know." Shang Qi’s tone was indifferent.

"You..." Truthfully, Shang Yucheng didn’t even know what he wanted to say; he just grew furious every time he saw Shang Qi.

If not for Shang Qi’s existence, would the Shang family be facing these issues now?

Shang Yucheng truly regretted letting him be born.

"Mr. Shang, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going." Shang Qi raised the window, signaling the bodyguard to drive.

Since they wouldn’t move, he’d leave himself.

Shang Yucheng, valuing his reputation, dared not act inappropriately and could only watch in fury as Shang Qi departed.

-

Shang Qi returned home, but there was no trace of Chuzheng. He asked Xiao Si and learned they had just returned to the apartment and were on their way up.

Shang Qi set down his phone, and the door was pushed open by Xiao Si, with a streak of white moving in first.

"Yue Ban." Shang Qi called her softly.

Chuzheng glanced at him, neither surprised nor joyful, as if he’d always been there, never having left.

This feeling... was delightful.

Chuzheng coolly jumped onto the couch, crawling onto Shang Qi’s lap.

Shang Qi felt a tenderness in his heart: "Did you miss me?"

What’s there to miss? We have video calls every day.

Chuzheng reluctantly patted him with her paw as a response.

Understanding Chuzheng’s personality, Shang Qi was not one to talk much himself; both remained quietly together.

This time, Shang Qi stayed for over ten days, supervising Chuzheng’s bath and meals after returning.

Every day made Chuzheng feel miserable, wishing to change for a Good Person Card.

Chuzheng was chatting with Du Pei when she caught the scent from the kitchen and left the study.

Shang Qi stood in the open kitchen, focused on the pot, stirring occasionally, with a serious expression as though engaging in something sacred.

The aroma intensified, and Shang Qi turned off the heat and served the dish.

"I was about to call you." Shang Qi turned and saw Chuzheng standing behind him, inviting her over: "I made you some snacks, come try them out."

Shang Qi had fried some little fish snacks, golden on both sides, looking quite appetizing.

But Chuzheng’s mood wasn’t quite cheerful.

Even though these were different from the fish snacks sold outside, they were still fish snacks!

Shang Qi must be doing this on purpose!

Though Shang Qi seemed upright, initially, he mischievously pushed her into the water...

He set down the plate, bent over to pick up Chuzheng, and offered one up to her mouth: "Want a taste?"

No!

Never!

-

Slaps may be delayed, but they never miss their mark.

Chuzheng slowly nibbled the fish snack from Shang Qi’s hand.

My reputation!

This vendetta must be avenged!

Just wait...

Chuzheng fiercely bit down, not realizing she caught Shang Qi’s finger as well, causing him to gasp in pain.

"Even if it’s good, don’t bite my fingers..." Shang Qi said helplessly, though his voice faded before he finished.

His expression stiffened momentarily, then he quickly pulled his hand back in mild panic.

His fingertip felt a slight wetness, pinched between his fingers, hidden by his side.

Chuzheng: "??"

Shang Qi released Chuzheng, stood up, and walked into the bedroom: "I remembered something to take care of; eat first, I’ll make a call."

Chuzheng pointed at the table with her paw.

The phone sat isolated on the table.

Flushed with embarrassment, Shang Qi returned to grab his phone and hurriedly entered the bedroom.
