Chapter 217: It Wasn't That Serious...

Vulely: “Hey, you two…give me a reason for why you’ve done this, or I will, out of spite, not include any of this in my narration.” I warned with a gentle smile.

Guanyu: “Oh? You didn’t mention that it has to be a good or even decent reason, Vulely.” She mused with a head tilt.

Vulely: “Of course; we’re a very forgiving family, after all.” I replied with my eyes partially closed, smile still not reaching my eyes, adding to my words.

Through this battle, Runeth kept quiet. Since it was Guanyu who roped her into this, whatever it is, I don’t really blame Runeth at all. I’d imagine that the other restrained girls feel the same, as, in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t that absurd of a thing to happen to us.

Rather, it is actually pretty tame. The trust we have for each other, and being numbed by Celia’s interesting life, helped us stay calm as can be. Besides, even if Guanyu went crazy, she wouldn’t make it out unscathed. And, worst of all, she would lose Celia’s love.

Guanyu: “Celia’s theory on resource utilization, and her methods are correct. However, due to those revelations, Runeth reevaluated her previous assumptions on the resource use from our, and mainly, Celia’s existence.” She finally explained, truly sounding and looking like a wise, ancient Cultivator.

Vulely: “And? Though passive these days, are you saying that…our casual life is expending more resources than is around?” I asked in reply, tone completely serious.

Clang!

Runeth: “Divinity, Mana, and Pure Mana…there are still a lot of those resources around and being made. Unfortunately, supply will not last forever, and the production cannot keep up with us.” She added, seeing that I now knew the stakes.

Unlike the others, I was free once more; although, it was more like a new weight was placed onto me instead. Eh, those chains were quite suffocating, or maybe I just haven’t been restricted in such a manner in a long time, so I’ve had a more extreme reaction to it.

I’m not counting Pelia’s kidnapping of me, mind you. There wasn’t any way for that woman to even slightly harm me, let alone end my life. The Cultivator, Guanyu, the peak of her strength unknown, is likely able to kill quite a few of us, if she wanted to.

Vulely: “Does this mean that…Eternanel was right about us gaining power? That it would end badly?” I said with an unsure thinking pose.

Runeth: “Not really, no. Her main point was us having too much strength, not stopping the overuse of Higher Being resources. That wasn’t on her mind at all, as far as I’m aware.” She denied with a shrug.

Vulely: “Oh, I see. You both are still very calm… Do we have a lot of time before this becomes a problem, or something?” I asked with a relieved tone and expression.

Guanyu: “There is still time, yes.” She answered in Runeth’s stead.

Vulely: “Good, good. Then I have qualms with you both restraining…” My sentence was cut off.

Guanyu: “We have a year at most.” She nonchalantly added with a giggle.

Vulely: “…”
