Elias’s POV
He wasn’t crying because of his shoes.
The strange woman’s smile is unreadable.
I’ve never seen her before, and her eyes are not betraying any of her intentions. They are icy blue and kind.
The shade of her blue eyes is almost like my mother’s, but Siren’s eyes don’t tell two tales. They don’t say ’trust me’ and ’doubt me’ at the same time.
I don’t permit uncertainties in my world space.
No, all uncertainties must be killed.
"Please..." Noah whimpers again. The golden-haired omega is holding on to me.
His eyes hold mine as if he has forgotten that I’m the one who rules his life. Does he think he can plead with me and I would listen?
What Elias wants, Elias gets...maybe not for now. He made me forget why I came into this room in the first place.
I had followed his scent like a hound dog.
My alpha caught a whiff of his unique scent. No one else smells like him. His strawberry scent is still musky with his post-heat pheromones.
I followed and I found him.
Seeing him on the floor with his eyes swimming with tears and his lips bitten raw threw me off track.
Fuck...Noah cries easily, and it alters something in me.
I hate how easily he submits to crying, still one should draw tears from his eyes but me. It has to be me. Only me.
I am his salvation, and I am his damnation. I choose how he lives and I choose how he dies.
This woman can live for today.
Without saying a word, I grab my possession by the upper arm and pull him out of the room.
I don’t miss the way he shudders with relief when I take him out of the room.
He thinks putting distance between him and the woman means mercy. He doesn’t know who I am or what plans I have for him.
I’ll make her into the noose that steals his breath if he doesn’t submit to me.
I slam him into the wall.
The impact rattles the painting above his head. He presses his lips together to keep his cries in when a few more tears slip out of his eyes.
"I know you’re lying to me" I inform him.
Boldly, he dares to lift his gaze to meet mine. He doesn’t stop with that act. He dares to lick his lips to lie some more.
"I-I’m not" he says in a hoarse voice.
His brows furrow when he’s lying. The deep crease looks like he’s thought of the lie and its consequence on the spot.
Innocent.
It’s either that Noah is far too innocent or he’s too good at playing innocent.
If it’s the latter. I will have a good reason to kill him. And if I find out he’s not the one I’m looking for...I will make his death excruciating.
"Noah" I growl his name like a warning.
"I said I’m not lying to you" he insists, voice shaking and eyes desperately trying to hold back tears.
"You have two minutes to tell the truth" I pull out my pocket watch and stare at it, counting the ticks while he panics.
"I’m not lying...my shoes are uncomfortable, they hurt" he says.
"One minute"
"Elias" he whines my name.
"Zane or that woman?" I ask and his body goes slack against the wall.
I had one control button with Zane, now I have two control buttons with that woman...maybe I would let her live after all.
"Your father shot me" he says and I move back to search his face.
His scent is souring quickly. His bottom lip is tucked between his teeth. His eyes are on me. His brows are furrowed, but not in the way they look when he lies.
I look down at his feet; he’s stepping on his left foot. I never read people wrongly; his feet must be hurting, yet he’s lied.
Which means even though his feet hurt, that’s not the reason he’s crying.
He’s like an electrical device.
I need him to work, but when he overheats, I must wait for him to cool.
"I will take you to buy new ones" I say with my eyes on his feet. I expect his usual proud response, but he drops his head.
"Okay" he says softly and I completely step away from him.
The gloom hanging over him is suffocating the anger I came here with. I was going to make him remember what he wasn’t telling me during the heat.
I was going to force the words out of him even if they would be accompanied by blood.
"Let’s go" I nod, shoving my hands and my pocket watch into my pockets.
I will crack him, but I can wait. Death has been around longer than men.
A stone might try to resist breaking, but after hours, days, weeks, and even months of exposure, it cracks.
Are you my cherry blossom boy who grew into a different person, or are you just a doppelganger begging to die?
He follows me out of the mansion with his head down.
He doesn’t try to run or act out. He just stands by, he looks lost in his head as I direct my driver and my guards.
Lucas joins us in the car uninvited.
"I think we should play some music" he says as the driver pulls out of the garage, and I glare at him from the mirror.
My personal guard, that bastard chose to act as if I’m invisible. He grins as he turns his head to Noah.
"Noah, what type of music do you enjoy?" he asks and Noah looks up briefly before looking down again.
"It doesn’t matter" he murmurs and Lucas shrugs, choosing to play a loud pop song.
He knows how I don’t enjoy those types of songs.
"Turn it off" I order.
"Noah likes it" he says and I look at my husband.
The omega’s small smile immediately drops off his face the second I turn my attention to him.
He’s allowed to hate me. But if he smiles, it would be at me, not at someone else.
Me.
"Turn. It. Off" I order again.
Lucas looks at me in the mirror. He sees the ticking of my jaw and quietly puts the radio off. He mutters an insult before placing his hands on his lap.
I look at Noah, and his head is down again, he’s looking at nothing on his lap.
Fine then.
Keep pushing me, angel.
Keep pushing me.
