Chapter 15: Serve your master

6 min read

Noah’s POV

Two brothers who are notorious for being monsters are left alone in a room full of sharp objects...

"W-what’s going to happen now?" I ask as Kai pulls me down the hallway of their mansion.

The last Deus brother walking slowly but I can barely keep up. My brain isn’t processing the violence I just witnessed and I stumble into two different people.

The people I bump into give me the stink eye, but Kai doesn’t notice.

He opens his room’s door and throws me in first.

"Kai" I call his name, catching myself against the white wall of his room.

He doesn’t respond or look at me, he just goes over to his gamers seat and put on his p.c.

"Kai"

"What?" he snaps, finally looking at me. He looks tired of me, his pale blue eyes are fixed on me and they worry me.

"What’s going to happen now?" I ask my question again.

"You sit on my bed and shut up, if you leave this room, I won’t be responsible for what happens next" he says, folding his arms over his chest.

"Happy now, your highness?" he asks rudely, and I’m completely thrown off guard by his attitude.

Boys like him used to respect me back home in Winslow. They used to look up to me despite their secondary gender; alpha, beta or omega, they all respected me.

I was their role model and encouragement to do better. I was the ’angel’ of my city.

But look at me, Elias Deus has reduced me to nothing.

I sit on the bed with my back straight and Kai returns to paying attention to his p.c. I can’t help but strain my ears to listen for any noise.

I’m worried they would really kill each other.

What sort of family casually throws knives at each other at their dining table?

"Is this normal?" I ask Kai and he looks over his shoulder at me. "As normal as a cherry blossoms during Winslow spring" he says and my eyes widen.

"What did you say?" I ask.

"Cherry blossoms" he says, wearing a dry smile on his face.

Cherry blossom trees are the symbol of Winslow, not only that, they’re also my favorite trees.

Wait...why is he suddenly talking about my home?

"I’m just..."

’Oh, you might never see those again, and the reason can be because of two things. One, you piss off Elias well enough for him to completely ruin Winslow, or two, you die" he says casually and my jaw drops.

What?

"Unfortunately, you can’t die. At least not yet, Elias won’t let you. My brother is meticulous about his possessions especially when they’re new"

"I’m not a-"

"And that right there, Noah. That need to define who you think you are is the reason Elias will keep you long enough to show you how Winslow falls"

Why is he doing this to me?

If this was two day ago, or even yesterday, tears would have been streaming down my face right now, but now...they’re not.

I’m so tired of these people.

"You told me I was an offering to save Winslow" I say in a firm tone and Kai shrugs on his seat.

"Don’t you know Gods can reject offerings" he says.

"You’re not gods...you’re just psychopaths" I hiss and he smiles.

His smile is not as threatening as Damien’s, but it carries it’s own depth of insanity, something that scares me.

"Bingo. And do you know how to survive psychopaths?" he asks.

"W-what are you talking about?"

"Nothing. You can’t survive psychopaths, they chose if you get to survive or not. Now shut the fuck up and let me enjoy my peace" the younger boy says and suddenly turns around to focus on his p.c.

My heart is pounding in my ears at this point.

He did all these to me so he can play a game in silence?

The urge to ask another question is strong, but I clamp my mouth shut. I won’t let this psychopath ruin my mind.

He’s really like famine. Quietly gnawing at you, body, mind and soul till you’re...dead.

Two knocks on the door breaks the brief silence and Kai groans.

"Open it" he says without lifting his head.

I open the door and find Lucas standing at the door.

The only seemingly normal person in this glorified mental hospital.

"Hi" he says with a grim expression. He looks pale, like he’s sick.

"H-hi" I stutter.

"Kai, I’ve been asked to bring the new Mr Deus" Lucas calls out.

"Okay" is Kai’s response and Lucas gestures for me to follow him, which I do.

He takes me to a part of the house that I’m unfamiliar with. It looks like another dining room, and when he opens the door, Elias is sitting there in that posture.

Legs crossed, face relaxed and hands on knees.

Alive.

My chest loosens at the sight of him, I don’t know why I care that he’s alive, but I’m glad he is.

I can’t imagine him dying and leaving me with his brothers.

I knew Damien was twisted, but Kai is just as bad, and I would hate to be stuck with him. At least with Damien I know what to expect, but Kai...no.

"Don’t stand there, go take a seat" he says and I walk into the room, taking the farthest seat from him.

He notices that I chose distance, but he doesn’t object.

"Good. I can see you better from there" he says and claps twice.

When he does, the door opens and a man walk in with a tray of food. His mouth has been taped shut with duct tape, his face is wet with tears and snot.

I look from my husband to the man.

Wait...this man looks familiar...is he...

"From Winslow" Elias answers the question on my mind.

"Go on. Serve your Master" Elias says and the man kneels in front of me, placing the tray of food on the table, and that’s when I notice it.

"Go on and eat, you missed breakfast" Elias says, locking eyes with me while my mouth opens in a silent scream.

The man from Winslow is missing his right hand.
