Everyone else had fallen from the poison, only Michael remained standing. His eyes darted around in confusion and fear. "What is happening, Boss?"
John slowly lifted his head. His bloodshot eyes landed on Michael. "You." His voice became cold. "I can’t believe It was you."
Michael’s pupils shrank. "What?!"
"You poisoned us!"
"I didn’t!" Michael hurriedly waved both hands, shaking his head rapidly from left to right.
"I swear! I don’t know what’s happening!"
John no longer listened.
With the last of his strength, he lunged forward.
"Bang!"
His fist slammed directly into Michael’s chest as his chest cracked instantly. He was blasted backward like a cannonball as blood spraying from his mouth.
"Pfft!"
Michael coughed out a mouthful of blood but still managed to shout.
"I told you—it wasn’t me!" His face filled with panic and fear. He truly didn’t know what was going on!
John staggered again. His vision blurred. "Hand over the antidote."
He clenched his fist as his remaining strength slipped away. "You’ll die for th..." Before he could continue, his body finally collapsed onto the ground.
Silence filled the cave.
Michael’s face was pale as he stood up from the ground. Hewiped the blood from his lips, confusion evident on his face.
"What the hell is going on?"
He stared worriedly at his fallen teammates, wondering in shock and fear.
Then a calm voice sounded behind him. "I was wondering how long it would take."
Michael froze. He slowly turned around.
Klen, the supposedly unconscious mage, was standing calmly beside the bonfire.
He casually dusted off his clothes. There wasn’t the slightest trace of weakness on his face.
Michael’s eyes widened and he hurriedly asked, "Klen, do you know what’s happening? They all collapsed hair like that and John, he was blaming me."
Klen adjusted his glasses. A faint smile appeared on his face. "Of course I know what happened. Because I was the one who poisoned all of you."
"What?!" Michael’s mind went blank.
"I didn’t poison you because I feared John would figure out it was me and kill me so i needed a scape goat. You did quite well actually."
Michael cousins comprehend what was happening.
Before he could react, a finger pointed toward him.
A bolt of purple lightning exploded outward. It struck Michael squarely in the chest. His entire body convulsed violently.
"AAARGH!" He was Paralyzed.
Klen disappeared in a blur. His blade buried itself deep into Michael’s abdomen. Michael doubled over.
Another punch smashed across his face. His enormous body crashed heavily onto the cave floor.
He struggled to lift his head. "You... It was really you..."
Klen looked down at him indifferently. "In front of a billion dollars, people have sold their own parents."
He chuckled softly. "What makes you think teammates are worth anything?"
Michael’s eyes trembled. He wanted to stand. But the stab wound had poison leaves with it, combined with Klen’s lightning he was completely robbed him of his strength.
Darkness swallowed his vision and his body finally went limp.
Klen smiled faintly. He walked over to John’s unconscious body.
Removing the storage ring from John’s finger with practiced ease, which stored the corpse of the Elite Saber-Toothed Tiger.
"Prideful bitch!"
He spat on her face as he said with hatred.
Finally, he stopped before Andrew.
The weaker cub still rested against Andrew’s chest. Klen picked it up.
Then he looked down at the unconscious teenager. For the first time, a trace of genuine regret crossed his face.
"What a pity. So much talent. So much potential." He sighed. "I can already imagine the monster you would’ve become in ten years."
His expression quickly turned cold again. "But unfortunately, you won’t live that long. No matter how talented you are, a corpse is still just a corpse."
He shook his head. Then he casually kicked Andrew’s body twice then smiled as he stepped on Andrew’s face, mashing his feet again teh genius head beneath his feet.
Kicking in envy, and stepping just because he wanted to step on a genius in his lifetime.
Then he turned toward the cave entrance. He took only a few steps. Then he suddenly stopped. A strange feeling like killing intent crept up his spine as his hair stood on end.
Klen had only taken a few steps away from the cave. Suddenly, every hair on the back of his neck stood on end.
A cold, deadly feeling washed over him like an icy tide.
Klen stopped.
He slowly turned around, as his gaze sweeping across the cave.
The five unconscious figures still lay exactly where they had fallen. Nothing had changed and yet, a strange sense of unease crept into his heart as his instincts screamed that something was wrong.
After staring for several seconds, he shook his head. "I’m overthinking it."
He felt it might be his guilty conscience speaking to him after betraying his team who he has worked with for five than 5 years.
No matter how he looked at it, none of them could possibly survive the poison he concocted by mistake.
His subclass in Heaven’s Domain is called Poison Alchemist and the poison he had used was potent enough to kill even Peak Silver rank Ultras.
Klen’s eyes swept over them once more and then his gaze focused on one person.
The kid called Andrew.
He frowned. "Where do I know you from?"
He had been trying to remember where exactly he knew Andrew from ever since they met in Maryland Academy and entered the dimensional zone but he hadn’t thought too deeply about it then. But now, he walked closer to Andrew and stared at Andrew’s unconscious face as his brows furrowed thoughtfully.
His eyes flitted around and suddenly, his eyes widened with recognition.
"That’s right. So that’s where I know you from."
He remembered seeing a bounty of 5 million dollars on his phone a few days ago. He had dismissed it as Five million dollars was too little also, it was a students of Maryland academy, it would be a conflict of interest as his guild primarily worked hand in hand.
