Chapter 1720: Jocelyn at the Critical Moment

3 min read

Mia Lane stepped forward, glancing at Eden with the corner of her eye as she passed him. This person’s appearance, build, and aura were remarkably similar to Miles Lee. She dared to conclude that he was the one her uncle had described.

He must be the one who poisoned the King, and perhaps the murderer of her master!

Thinking of this, Mia felt a surge of emotion, as though her blood was boiling within her.

Justin Kingston accompanied her, unaware of the thoughts racing through her mind, as they walked with Princess Catherine towards the King’s sleeping quarters.

The antidote was in Mia’s pocket. She intentionally wore a Korean-style coat with large pockets to carry it, but with Julie’s eyes constantly on her, Mia wasn’t sure if delivering the medicine would succeed today.

If Julie kept watching, how could she slip it to Ian Shelby unnoticed? Mia began pondering this dilemma before even entering the sleeping quarters.

Justin Kingston also realized Julie could disrupt their plans. Compared to the naive princess, this woman was both attentive and sharp.

As the group neared the King’s sleeping quarters, Ian Shelby quickened his pace and entered first, disappearing from sight swiftly.

Suddenly, a figure darted out from nowhere, a tray of tea striking Julie without missing a beat!

"Ah!" Julie cried out instinctively, drenched in tea. She shook off the droplets, looking angrily at the person who hadn’t been watching!

The teacup fell with a clang onto the carpet, spilling the remaining tea everywhere! Chaos ensued, startling everyone present.

"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry..." Jocelyn Morgan apologized profusely, helpless, "I didn’t mean it."

Mia looked at Jocelyn, who was still apologizing to Julie, her manner very sincere.

Justin Kingston was just as surprised by the incident.

Seeing that it was Jocelyn Morgan, Julie’s anger subsided, unable to fully vent her frustration.

Though her expression was grim, given CEO Kingston’s presence, she merely said in a subdued tone, "It’s alright."

"You should change your clothes; the tea stains won’t come off easily if left for long," Jocelyn Morgan advised warmly, "I’m really sorry."

At this moment, Catherine spoke up, "Julie, you should go back for now, don’t stay here with me." Saying this, she proceeded inside.

Eager to see the King.

Justin Kingston tightened his grip on Mia’s hand, she glanced at him, and they moved forward together.

They both knew Jocelyn’s actions were intentional, to distract Julie.

Inwardly, they couldn’t help but admire the clever girl who provided such vital help, allowing Mia to breathe a sigh of relief.

Jocelyn’s gaze remained fixed on Julie, blocking her path to the King’s quarters, "Change quickly, or it will seep in, and your clothes don’t seem cheap."

Jocelyn’s words reached Justin and Mia’s ears, causing both to feel a bit anxious for her.

Outside, Julie’s expression darkened as she left, very conscious of her uniform’s condition.

Her clothing was generally custom-made, expensive, and represented authority and status; only the captain of the guard wore such attire.

Watching the departing figure, Jocelyn finally relaxed, glancing back at the closed door before letting herself leave with peace of mind.

But after only a few steps, Eden approached.

Invisibly, this added pressure on Jocelyn, who stopped by the side, momentarily unable to find a reason to intercept him, she merely lowered her gaze in respect.
