At this moment, Taylor grabbed his schoolbag and stormed off in a huff! He just wanted to find a place to calm down!
Catherine had no mind to bother with him either. She followed Julie toward the inner room, feeling slightly uneasy. "What exactly are you trying to say? Did you notice something strange?"
Julie walked into the room and closed the door. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she spoke with a certain air of conviction. "The reason the King is this furious is because Prince Taylor touched his woman."
At first, Catherine didn’t understand what she meant.
Because in her understanding all along, she was the only woman of the King.
And how could Taylor possibly have touched her?
The mistress and maid locked eyes, and Catherine finally reacted. "You mean..." Her chest suddenly tightened. "You mean Jocelyn Morgan?"
"Yes, the King has taken a fancy to Jocelyn." Julie stated bluntly and firmly, her expression cold. "Otherwise there’s simply no way to explain this whole thing."
"No!" Catherine suddenly laughed, her tone light and quick. "That’s impossible, the age gap alone! And it’s only been a few days, hasn’t it? She’s just a translator—how could she possibly capture the King’s heart?"
"Since ancient times, when men look for women, they always want someone younger than themselves, the younger and fresher the better," Julie said. "Because aside from this, I really can’t think of any other reason. Prince Taylor is his own flesh and blood. To tell him to get out and forbid him from ever setting foot in the palace again—this punishment is far too harsh."
Even though she couldn’t find another cause, Catherine still thought this explanation was utterly ridiculous.
Yet Julie’s judgment had always been accurate, and she spoke with such certainty that Catherine couldn’t help feeling a chill in her heart.
Could it be... that Jocelyn Morgan really is some kind of temptress?
"Your Grace, I just had someone look into it, and a message came back. I’m not sure if I should say it." Julie’s voice was low.
Catherine’s eyes lowered slightly. "What is there that you shouldn’t say?" She forced down the panic in her heart and focused on her. "Speak."
"A few days ago, the King already ordered this Miss Morgan to accompany him at meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner all the same," Julie reported truthfully. "Eden and Arthur stand guard outside the door."
When Catherine heard this, she almost couldn’t believe it. Her eyes were filled with shock.
The King might not be a neat freak, but he was used to eating alone. He liked peace and quiet. Apart from Catherine herself, no one else had ever shared a meal with him.
Even his son Taylor rarely, very rarely, accompanied his father—he would visit him, but seldom went into the dining hall.
"Your Grace." Seeing how shaken she was, Julie gently tried to comfort her. "The King’s health is growing weaker by the day. He surely won’t be so absurd as to marry Miss Morgan as a consort, so I think this is something we can turn a blind eye to. The less trouble the better. Just pretend you don’t know."
"No!" Catherine loved the King, and she could not tolerate this. "He is my husband! How can I allow another woman to get close to him? Even if he is dying, I must be his only consort!"
Thinking of Jocelyn’s face, like a lotus fresh from the water, Catherine felt a stab of jealousy!
So young, yet she managed to enchant both father and son at the same time!
If this got out, wouldn’t it become the biggest joke of the royal family? And she, Catherine, would definitely be ridiculed and gossiped about.
Then she began to reflect, "It’s my fault, I’m the one to blame. I’ve spent all my time lately on the project with the Kingston Group and didn’t make enough time to be with him, giving vile people an opening to exploit."
On one hand, she started to reflect on herself.
On the other hand, she shifted the blame onto Jocelyn Morgan.
She decided this girl had ill intentions, was hypocritical, vain!
