Half an hour after Henwell gives the order, the Lord Iron Guards are already assembled. Henwell wears only ordinary clothes. He picks up his war spear, mounts Night Charger, and rides out.
The mounts of the Lord Iron Guards have all been carefully selected. Each of them is only a hair's breadth from becoming extraordinary.
After more than an hour of hard riding, they reach the border region.
When Southwest Military Governor Virgil of the kingdom receives word that Henwell is trying to cross the border with the Lord Iron Guards, he immediately hurries to the border zone.
As he waits to cross the border, impatience is already clear on Henwell's face. Virgil immediately rides forward.
"Henwell, you come from the army. There is no need for you to make things hard for the soldiers guarding the border."
Henwell glances at Virgil. "Then I will make things hard for you instead. Soldiers guarding the border?"
"What border are they guarding? Who are they watching against? Me?"
"So Peace Haven isn't part of Vorry after all?"
Virgil frowns. "Henwell, what exactly happened? You are taking a knight order out like this. If you don't give me a reason, how am I supposed to let you pass?"
Henwell shakes his head. "I don't know what happened, but I know someone is moving against me."
"If you continue blocking me, I can only treat this as a sign that the kingdom intends to act against me."
"In that case, I will obediently go back, but I will come again."
"When I return, you should understand that these guards won't be the only people at my side."
"So, Your Excellency Military Governor, do you want war?"
Virgil has no answer. That is one question he absolutely can't answer.
After a moment of silence, Virgil says, "You are powerful. These guards are only decoration. There is no need for you to bring so many!"
Henwell raises his hand and orders, "Dalton, take half the men and stay here. Wizet, take the rest and come with me!"
But after Henwell rides forward a few steps, he finds that the pass still shows no sign of opening.
Henwell tightens his grip on the war spear. "Military Governor Virgil, I have already given you face. What? You don't want to accept it?"
Military Governor Virgil considers for a while, then raises his hand and gives the order. "Open the pass! Let the lord of Blood Hill through!"
Henwell leads a thousand Lord Iron Guards through the pass and thunders northeast.
...
Outside Cloud Tree City, Doyle, who is escorting Pacino, is stopped by Keynes, lord of Cloud Tree City, and his army.
Doyle rides out. "Sir Keynes, I am escorting Baron Pacino to Peace Haven!"
Keynes says in a low voice, "The king's secret order I received is to keep Baron Pacino here as a guest!"
Doyle shakes his head. "No! I must send him away!"
Keynes sneers. "What? Do you think you can contend with me now?"
As the king's confidant, Keynes commands two standing legions, one garrison legion, and one city-defense legion.
Doyle has only one legion altogether. If they fight, he is definitely no match for Keynes.
And right now, Doyle has brought only one cavalry warband. The army across from him has already begun closing in.
Doyle sighs. "Sir, it is too late. Henwell has received the news and is on his way."
"Besides, Baron Pacino is badly wounded. He is already on the verge of death."
"Are you planning to let the baron die in your hands? How will you explain that to Henwell?"
"Sir, do you know what this represents?"
"Are you trying to start a civil war in Vorry Kingdom?"
Keynes frowns. "No matter what, I can't let you leave today!"
Doyle takes a deep breath. "Then, Sir, forgive my offense!"
With that, Doyle is about to return to his formation and prepare for battle.
Just as Keynes finds himself stuck, a scout rider comes to report. "My lord! The lord of Blood Hill is coming. He will arrive here soon."
A general beside him says, "My lord, should we start the battle? If we prepare now, we can still seize the initiative."
Keynes feels his head begin to ache. How did the situation suddenly turn into this?
Soon, he no longer needs to hesitate. A horn call comes faintly from the distance.
Keynes knows that is the extraordinary horn of Peace Haven's Lord Iron Guards.
Henwell is here!
Sure enough, before long, a cavalry unit appears in the distance and charges over at an exaggerated speed.
Keynes sighs and orders his formation to open a path.
He understands clearly that his army can't stop this knight order, especially when Henwell is personally leading it.
And he also understands that Henwell absolutely won't hold back. If Keynes dares to stop him, Henwell will dare to kill.
A moment later, Henwell arrives with a thousand Lord Iron Guards.
With a beautiful tight turn, they stop in front of Pacino's carriage.
Henwell jumps down from his horse and goes straight toward the carriage.
Count Doyle steps forward. "My lord, I..."
Henwell glances at him, and the rest of Doyle's words die in his throat.
Henwell enters the carriage. The first things he sees are Pacino, unconscious, and Lynd, badly wounded.
When Lynd sees Henwell, he tries to rise. Henwell raises a hand to stop him. "No need. How are your injuries?"
Lynd says, "I can still hold on. But Baron Pacino..."
Henwell steps forward and begins examining Pacino's wounds. A moment later, he calls outside, "Wizet! The tools!"
Wizet immediately carries over a case. Henwell opens it, and inside is a neatly arranged set of surgical tools.
Afterward, Wizet brings another case. Inside are rows of precious extraordinary potions.
Henwell immediately begins treating Pacino's wounds. The scene is frightening, so Pacino's son is taken outside by Wizet.
Now, a thousand Lord Iron Guards form a neat defensive perimeter around the carriage. Even Doyle's cavalry warband is kept outside.
More than an hour later, Lynd, inside the carriage, can't help speaking. "My lord, you have done everything you can."
"But Baron Pacino has no fighting spirit in his body. At this point, he truly is..."
Henwell's hands freeze in midair. After a moment, he takes a deep breath. "Lynd, I will treat your wounds first!"
Lynd is a Battle Knight after all. His wounds look severe, but many of them are superficial.
Henwell uses only half an hour to stitch up his intestines and treat the other external wounds on his body.
Henwell pushes open the carriage door. "Doyle! I need to use a hospital in your territory. Take me to the nearest one."
"Pacino's injuries require a very complex surgery. I need a professional operating room, and I also need medical assistants."
Doyle pauses, then grits his teeth and steps forward. "My lord, I have seen Baron Pacino's injuries. His liver and kidneys have both been shattered, his lung has been pierced through, and his spine has been severed. You can't save him!"
Henwell looks at him coldly. "If we have not tried, how do you know he can't be saved?"
Doyle drops to one knee. "My lord! Right now, you have more important things to do."
"You are a leader, not a doctor. Professional matters should be left to professionals!"
Henwell roars, "Saving him is the most important thing I have to do right now."
Around the enraged Henwell, a wave of force surges up and sends Doyle flying.
Just then, a fit of coughing comes from inside the carriage.
Henwell immediately withdraws his aura and rushes back inside.
