Benjamin Walton turned his head to look at Charles Seymour’s butler and said helplessly, "Sorry, I didn’t know she went there to make a scene. I thought she just went back to her mother’s house.""Hmm." The butler nodded and replied with a smile, "If one’s sick, one should see a doctor; avoiding treatment is harmful. Delaying treatment only brings suffering to oneself and those around them."
"Yes, yes, we didn’t notice it usually." Benjamin understood and nodded repeatedly, "We will definitely seek active treatment, Emerie... Sigh, I didn’t expect her to have this problem."
"Thank you so much this time. If you hadn’t discovered it, who knows how long her condition would have gone untreated." Benjamin expressed his gratitude solemnly.
The butler stood up and said, "No need to be so polite. Our master is kind-hearted; that’s why he arranged for her to be examined upon seeing her suffer an episode. In future, your family should pay more attention."
What could Benjamin say?
He could only continually acknowledge their words and see the butler out, then he asked the doctor, "Can I go see my wife now?"
"Of course." The attending physician said, "The patient’s emotions are quite unstable, but we assessed her mental state to be okay, so we haven’t used any sedatives."
"You’re her husband; please do your best to comfort her."
After hearing what the attending physician said, Benjamin nodded and followed the doctor to the ward.
The hospital’s inpatient area is always somewhat eerie at night, especially with footsteps echoing in the hallway, inexplicably sending a chill down one’s spine.
The conditions of Emerie Wilson’s ward weren’t bad, but she’d already been changed into hospital attire. The hospital was worried she might struggle and hurt herself, so she’d been secured to the bed.
As soon as Benjamin entered, he saw Emerie’s bright eyes looking over, and indistinct, excited mumbling came from her gagged mouth.
Benjamin pulled up a chair, sat by Emerie’s bedside, but didn’t comply with her wish to remove what was over her mouth.
"Emerie Wilson, what on earth were you thinking? Going to find Charles Seymour and Sophie Wilson?" Benjamin murmured softly.
"Mmm mmm mmm..."
"Do you not know that Sophie Wilson has always hated you? You handed her over back then. Do you think she has forgotten this?" Benjamin continued speaking, utterly ignoring Emerie’s mumbled protests.
"This time, Sophie wants us not to be able to divorce, it’s all to torment you, a form of revenge." Benjamin laughed self-deprecatingly, "I guess it’s my own doing, but as long as I keep you with the Walton Family, we still have a slim chance."
"It doesn’t delay my affairs, it’s just a financial loss, and the company’s business is tougher than before, but thankfully the company can still be saved, so I’ll take it."
Mentioning this, Benjamin thought of the dwindling business and shrinking assets, and his heart ached.
But, then what?
At least the company hasn’t collapsed and he can still strive to protect what’s left.
"Emerie Wilson, why did you go looking for Charles Seymour and Sophie Wilson? Do you want my family to be ruined?" Benjamin resented Emerie, wasn’t the trouble she caused already enough?
Emerie lay on the bed shaking her head repeatedly, her eyes filled with anger, panic mingled with tears, full of unwillingness.
Unfortunately, Benjamin had no intention of communicating with her, he merely chuckled and said, "Now it’s all good."
