When Benjamin Walton hurried to the hospital and got to the conference room, the attending physician, the security guards, and the butler were all waiting there. Under so many pairs of eyes, Benjamin’s steps unconsciously slowed down; he just felt the atmosphere in the room was a bit too eerie.
"Mr. Walton?" The attending doctor looked over at Benjamin.
"That’s me." Benjamin nodded, then after sweeping his gaze around the room, finally spoke.
"According to our hospital’s examination, your wife needs to be hospitalized for treatment," the attending doctor said. "Of course, that’s only our preliminary diagnosis; we still need further tests for specifics."
"If she’s going to be admitted, we still hope her family will cooperate." The doctor’s words made Benjamin’s brain buzz in waves; he looked around the room in confusion, then pressed his forehead, trying to cool down his swollen, throbbing head.
But...how was he supposed to calm down like this?
He still didn’t even know what was going on.
In the dead of night, he’d been sleeping just fine when he got a call from a mental hospital saying his own wife had been brought in.
What the hell was that supposed to mean?
"Why...is my wife here?" Benjamin looked around the room, bewildered, and asked, "What exactly happened?"
"Let me explain." The butler spoke up, unhurriedly. "Emerie Wilson went to our sir’s front door and started making a huge scene."
"And your sir is...?" Benjamin asked.
"Charles Seymour." The moment the butler said the name, Benjamin’s face turned green.
What on earth was Emerie trying to do?
Wasn’t there already enough trouble?
The Walton company had only just started to ease up a little; the quality inspections were no longer so harsh. But he still needed to spend a lot of effort to reconnect with clients. After all, no one dared to casually cooperate with them and take on that inexplicably raised cost.
He was exhausted enough during this period; couldn’t she just stay put and behave?
Getting through the whole divorce debacle wasn’t enough—she then ran to Charles and Sophie Wilson’s doorstep to make a scene.
Was she insane?
If it weren’t for Sophie’s hint, he really would have wanted to divorce Emerie. A woman this hell-bent on self-destruction could only drag him down and nothing else.
"What’s more, she tore her own clothes, then threw herself at the security guard, claiming he had molested her." The butler’s words made Benjamin close his eyes for a moment.
Humiliating!
How much more shame did Emerie want to bring on herself?
"Yes, yes, everything this gentleman said is true. If you don’t believe it, Mr. Walton, our complex still has surveillance footage you can check," the head of security hurried to add.
Benjamin said in a low voice, "No need, I believe you."
"I’m sorry for all the trouble she’s caused everyone," Benjamin said apologetically.
Benjamin’s attitude actually surprised the security guards; they hadn’t expected that the husband of that crazy woman would be so reasonable.
"If there’s been any loss, please send me the bill. I’ll compensate you at full price," Benjamin said mildly.
"Oh, there’s no need for that." The head of security kept waving his hands.
"Please convey my apologies to the residents who were disturbed." As Benjamin spoke, he took out a stack of cash and said to the head of security, "Buy them something—think of it as my apology. I should really go in person to apologize, but with my wife’s situation, I may not be able to get away for a while."
The head of security tried to decline, but Benjamin’s attitude was very firm, so he could only accept the money.
Since there was nothing more for them there, the head of security left with his men.
