"Sophie, I’m seriously discussing business with him." Jacob Smith felt wronged.
But Charles Seymour ignored his complaint: "Not discussing."
"Look, look... how can he be such a man, not making money? Does he expect you to support him? I’ve never seen a man like that!"
Chloe White: "..."
The head of the Nelson family throwing a tantrum and begging Charles Seymour to collaborate with him?
Chloe White felt her worldview was a bit shaken.
"Alright, alright." Sophie Wilson quickly urged, "Can I just have a decent meal?"
Charles Seymour and Jacob Smith nodded in unison.
"Then listen to me, discuss the business matters privately, I’m not involved, do you hear me? We are good friends here, don’t make trouble." Sophie Wilson felt like she had suddenly turned into a kindergarten teacher, calming two kids fighting over the same toy.
Good friends?
Charles Seymour and Jacob Smith looked at each other, seeing the same disdain in each other’s eyes. It must be said that in this matter, the two of them were quite in sync.
"Hmm?" Sophie Wilson made a puzzled sound, only to see the two guys who were just glaring at each other suddenly change their attitude, "Of course we’re good friends, Charles, I’ll come to your company later to discuss collaboration."
"Hmm, welcome." Charles Seymour simultaneously conceded.
Sophie Wilson was satisfied, rewarding each of them with a chicken wing, smiling as she said, "Let’s eat!"
From that point, the atmosphere at the table was very friendly, remaining so until they finished their meal and left, chatting happily.
Chloe White sat there in a daze, sipping her drink slowly.
"Miss, miss, are you alright?" The waiter’s voice snapped Chloe White back to reality, and she frowned in annoyance, saying, "I’m fine!"
What could possibly be wrong?
She was just a little stunned earlier.
How could Sophie Wilson... what exactly did she do to make Mr. Nelson value her so much?
The waitress still had a worried look, which made Chloe White feel particularly embarrassed, and she irritably said, "Can I have some time alone?"
"Oh, okay, take your time." Seeing Chloe White like this, the waitress couldn’t say anything else.
Watching the waitress leave, Chloe White grumpily brought her cup to her lips.
Even the waitress seemed to be mocking her, what was that supposed to mean?
Feeling uncomfortable, she tilted her head back for a sip, only to realize she didn’t drink anything at all.
Bringing the cup to eye level, she noticed that, at some point, she had already finished the drink.
That’s why the waitress asked her earlier.
Sitting there trying to drink from an empty cup certainly didn’t look like ’no problem.’
"Damn it!" Chloe White angrily grabbed her bag and quickly left.
A mix of shame and anger seemed to linger persistently in her heart for some unknown reason.
"Miss White." Chloe White was called out as she rushed to the parking lot.
She turned around, looking at the man in front of her with caution in her eyes: "James Reed?"
"Miss White, long time no see." James Reed said with a smile, as they were in the Imperial City business circle, they would naturally know each other to some extent.
"I heard Miss White returned to the country. Would you be interested in collaborating a bit?" James Reed’s words made Chloe White even more wary.
