Old Mrs. Wilson was taken aback and looked to Sophie Wilson in confusion.
"It’s not like you’d forsake your own daughter for profit." Sophie Wilson’s words made Old Mrs. Wilson’s face flush, and he smiled awkwardly, saying, "I’ve spent my whole life thinking about how to make money; it’s become a habit."
"Honestly, it’s not that I don’t acknowledge you. I just thought that after Ophelia Wilson married James Reed, the Wilson Corporation could secure more partnerships, and once the company advanced further, I’d bring you back." Old Mrs. Wilson was rather candid at this point.
"Who would have thought that so many things would happen afterward... I’ve made mistake after mistake."
Old Mrs. Wilson’s self-deprecating words made Sophie Wilson smile as she said, "Well, the Wilson Corporation has returned to my dad’s hands, no matter how you look at it. You’ve worked hard your whole life; it’s time for you to enjoy your golden years peacefully."
After hearing this, Old Mrs. Wilson smiled, but his smile was quite bitter.
Indeed, he initially wanted to hand over the Wilson Corporation to Mason, but now it meant something entirely different.
After a full twenty minutes, Old Mrs. Wilson finally returned, albeit looking a bit displeased.
"What happened?" Old Mrs. Wilson asked.
"Emerie said she’s going back first," Old Mrs. Wilson said listlessly.
"Hmm." Old Mrs. Wilson was relieved; as long as Emerie Wilson wasn’t here causing trouble, he considered it a blessing.
They were family, after all. Would Mason truly ignore his own sister?
As long as enough time passed, and Emerie properly apologized to Sophie, the issue would blow over.
No matter what, Old Mrs. Wilson could tell that Sophie Wilson tended to be soft-hearted when dealing with those she cared about.
If she weren’t soft-hearted, she wouldn’t have come over to have this meal with them for Mason’s sake.
Although some minor incidents made the atmosphere a bit unpleasant, overall it was still alright.
After finishing the meal, Old Mrs. Wilson and the others went home and were shocked.
Emerie Wilson was nowhere to be found at home.
"Didn’t she say she was coming home?" Old Mrs. Wilson asked Old Mrs. Wilson.
"Let me call her!" Old Mrs. Wilson quickly dialed Emerie Wilson’s number. The phone rang for quite a while before it was answered. "Emerie, where are you? Why aren’t you at home?"
"I’m at Benjamin’s place." As soon as Emerie said this, Old Mrs. Wilson was shocked, "What? You’re at Benjamin Walton’s place? What’s he done? Kidnapped you? Don’t worry, your mom is..."
"Mom, what are you thinking?" Emerie interrupted Old Mrs. Wilson irritably, "How could Benjamin possibly kidnap me?"
Old Mrs. Wilson realized something was off and hurriedly asked, "Emerie, that scoundrel Benjamin Walton divorced you, so what are you doing at his place?"
"You’re all listening to Sophie Wilson, not treating me as family, so why should I stay with you?" Emerie asked irritably, "Benjamin said he wants to remarry me, and he’ll send that woman abroad."
Old Mrs. Wilson was nearly enraged to death by Emerie’s words, gritting her teeth and angrily chastising, "Emerie, are you out of your mind? You believe Benjamin Walton’s words? Have you forgotten how he tricked you back then? During the divorce, you left empty-handed!"
"That was just Benjamin’s momentary confusion." Emerie was fully standing by Benjamin Walton now, and Old Mrs. Wilson was nearly fainting from anger. What kind of person had she given birth to?
