Chapter 375: Silver-foiled hair

But at that time, she didn’t question Adrian because she knew he could come tell her if it was ever needed. Before that could happen, she spotted them in this restaurant. On the same day, Esther was overwhelmed with the revelation that she was not Yu Family’s true daughter.

Ella was confused and hurt, not because of Adrian but circumstances. When she saw Adrian and Lana together, she ended up acting on impulse.

In her anger and hurt before the accident, she had avoided Adrian, refusing to give him the chance to explain.

Despite her temper, she had never truly doubted his loyalty to her heart, but she was certain of one thing: Lana and Adrian were not strangers.

And how they were connected was something she needed to know to figure certain things out.

When the silence stretched too long, Ella asked again, "I don’t think it’s such a difficult question, Lana. How do you know each other?"

Before Lana could say a word, there was the sound of rhythmic footsteps behind their table.

A man walked and stood in front of Lana. It was a familiar face to Ella.

The butler of the Yu Mansion.

"Young Miss," the butler addressed Lana with a deep, respectful bow, "The Master and Madam were concerned that your outing was taking too long. They sent me to pick you up personally."

Ella watched the scene, a flicker of dark amusement dancing in her eyes.

In both of her lives, this man had treated her with disdain that bordered on disrespect. She had always excused it as his nature.

But seeing him now, bowed low before Lana with a look of genuine protective concern, the realization hit her like a physical blow.

A servant’s behavior is often a mirror of the master’s attitude. In her previous life and this one too, she was a daughter her parents knew wasn’t theirs; she was a placeholder to them. Why would they bother ensuring the staff treated her with the dignity of a Young Miss?

Except I was foolish enough to spend two lives craving their affection, Ella thought, her heart hardening.

"Father and mother worry a lot..." Lana smiled kindly at the butler before she turned to look at Ella, "I don’t want to concern my parents any longer. As for the things you want to know..."

Lana inhaled a deep breath.

"If you have questions, come find me in the Yu Mansion this evening," With that said, Lana left the restaurant.

The Yu Mansion.

Ella leaned back on the chair, a bitter smile forming on her lips.

Sometimes, she wondered if there was God... did he enjoy watching the joke that her life was?

Everytime she thought she came out of the shells of her past, that she could fly this time, her wings would break again.

She had avoided the Yu Mansion after she regained her consciousness. In fact, she didn’t go there for a confrontation even after Esther revealed the truth to her that day.

Ella didn’t want to be seen as weak and pathetic. And she didn’t know how she would act calm knowing that her entire life was built on life. That she was not even who she thought she was.

But now...

It all circled back to the Yu Mansion.

"Hah..." Ella covered her face in her palm for a second before she inhaled a deep breath and stood up.

...

When Ella reached the King Mansion in the afternoon, the usual serene atmosphere had been replaced by utter chaos.

A fleet of high-end vans was parked in the driveway, and a crowd of people dressed in trendy, fashionable uniforms was rushing toward the entrance. They carried delicate, refrigerated boxes, professional-grade lighting rigs, and rolling suitcases that rattled against the marble floors.

Confused, Ella halted in her tracks and looked around. Was there a high-fashion gala in the King Empires?

She stopped a servant who was passing by, "What’s happening? Is there an emergency?"

The servant looked completely speechless, his face contained a mixture of exhaustion and disbelief, "It’s... it’s the Second Master. He... he said..."

When the man began to stutter, Ella didn’t wait for the end of the sentence.

Concerned about Adrian’s condition, she bolted up the stairs toward the master bedroom.

She burst through the doors, her heart hammering against her ribs.

However, in the next moment, Ella nearly tripped.

What she saw changed her worldview almost instantly.

The room had been transformed into a top-tier spa.

A massive, three-way gilded mirror had been dragged into the center of the room.

Adrian was reclining on a velvet chaise lounge, looking like a surrealist art piece. He had a thick, charcoal-colored face mask on, with two perfectly circular cucumber slices resting over his closed eyes.

A group of people swarmed him: one was giving him a pedicure, another was buffing his fingernails, and a third was applying some gel to his forearms.

But what truly rendered Ella speechless were the dozens of silver foils wrapped meticulously around sections of his hair, sticking out in every direction like a metallic crown.

"Careful with the cuticle oil," Adrian’s voice drifted out from under the layers on his face.

Ella’s lips twitched. She had been venturing in the field of skincare for a while now, but she didn’t know there was something called cuticle oil in the market... until now.

"Due to the immense stress of the past two weeks, this young master has lost his peak beauty. It’s a good thing I got the arrangements made on time."

He sighed dramatically, "Don’t worry, you all will be rewarded properly once you help me retain my lost glow."

"Sir, with a bone structure like yours, it’s not at all difficult to make it glow," one of the spa technicians flattered him, bowing low, "You just need these treatments and proper rest. Your skin is already responding beautifully."

"Truly, a masterpiece in the making," another chimed in, applying a second layer of serum on his legs.

Ella stood in the doorway, her mouth slightly agape: "_"

Unable to take it anymore, she cleared her throat
