Chapter 834: Existences From Beyond

5 min read

Third Person’s POVShe slowly took a deep breath, and everyone present could clearly see her chest rise and fall slightly, as though even speaking of this ancient matter filled her with a faint sense of apprehension.

However, that hesitation lasted for only a moment, and a gleam of determination soon flashed through her pale-blue eyes, as though she had finally made an important decision.

Her pale-blue eyes unconsciously widened before she finally continued in a solemn voice,

"The vague records passed down through countless generations mention only a short yet terrifying detail."

"The detail hid an unimaginable yet terrifying secret.

And it was the revelation that that massive and incomparably powerful empire fell within an unimaginably short period of time, possibly not exceeding a single day."

She paused once again before uttering the words that sent chills down everyone’s spines.

"And it wasn’t merely conquered.

Instead, it was completely destroyed.

The entire northern part of the Dark Star Continent was thoroughly wiped clean, leaving behind no traces of life whatsoever."

Absolute silence descended upon the study, and everyone’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Even Ethan found himself subconsciously tightening his grip around the armrests of his chair.

One day.

That single sentence alone was enough to overturn everything they knew about power within this world.

Such a colossal empire naturally couldn’t have been protected by merely one or two Heaven Connection Realm experts.

An empire capable of ruling the entire Northern Dark Star Continent would have undoubtedly possessed multiple Forbidden Existences amongst its ranks.

Yet despite possessing such overwhelming strength and foundations accumulated throughout countless generations, not to forget unimaginably powerful trump cards, it had still been completely annihilated within a single day.

Such a thing simply defied everything Ethan had learned and witnessed during his second life.

Except for the things he had come to know all those years ago.

His thoughts unconsciously drifted toward one particular memory from several years ago.

The broken black saber he had discovered during the underground auction in Scarlet Hollow City when he had met Duchess Altheria Sangrial for the very first time.1

The fact that its name was Shadowrend, and the truth behind that seemingly worthless broken saber had been revealed to him by none other than the mysterious Eterna Nexus slumbering within his soul.

According to that information, once upon a time, Shadowrend hadn’t merely been an ordinary magical weapon.

It had been a Grade Eight Saber.

A weapon whose true value was beyond Ethan’s current imagination.

The same mysterious Eterna Nexus that had revealed that secret still quietly slumbered within his soul to this day, wrapped inside a cocoon woven from seven-colored divine light after remaining inactive for what had already been quite some time.

Almost immediately afterward, another memory surfaced within his mind.

The mysterious being with the demonic face who had forcefully teleported him across continents into the Dark Forest during his awakening ceremony.1

He remembered the fragmented information it had revealed regarding the true LucentVoid Clan.

And how a so-called Great World named Hell Spire existed somewhere within the boundless cosmos.

It was a world supposed to be incomparably greater than the Dark Star Continent itself.

And finally, the DreamShroud Devil Emperor, who was the mysterious progenitor of the LucentVoid Clan.

Remembering those fragmented truths one after another, Ethan gradually loosened his grip upon the chair’s armrests as his rapidly beating heart slowly calmed down.

He finally realized that perhaps he had subconsciously limited his understanding of this world.

The Dark Star Continent and this Agate Star World were vast, yet it wasn’t the entirety of existence.

Beyond it existed countless mysteries that he still knew absolutely nothing about.

If Great Worlds truly existed somewhere amongst the boundless stars and if beings like the DreamShroud Devil Emperor had once walked beneath those distant heavens, then perhaps the destruction of the Glaciem Crown Empire wasn’t quite as impossible as it initially sounded.

Most likely, existences originating from beyond the Dark Star Continent, perhaps beings who had already transcended even the Heaven Connection Realm itself, had descended upon this ancient empire.

And within a single day, they had mercilessly erased both the mighty Glaciem Crown Empire and every trace of life that had once flourished throughout the northern reaches of the Dark Star Continent.

"No one outside the royal family knows the true origin of the Glaciem Ice Abyss.

The reason I am telling you all of this is that I want the three of you to search for the vestiges of that ancient empire and, if fate favors you, obtain a part of its long-lost legacy."

Shixea’s calm voice echoed throughout the study as her pale-blue eyes swept across Ethan, Erius, and Aria one after another.

The atmosphere inside the room remained unusually solemn after everything they had just heard regarding the destruction of the Glaciem Crown Empire.

None of them doubted the importance of this mission anymore, nor did they underestimate the dangers hidden within the Glaciem Ice Abyss.

After allowing them a few moments to digest everything, she continued,

"That is all the information the three of you require for completing this objective.

The rest will depend entirely upon your own judgment and fortune once you enter the Glaciem Ice Abyss."

As she finished speaking, her gaze finally settled upon Ethan.

A gentle smile appeared on her beautiful face, replacing the solemnity she had maintained throughout the explanation.

"Why don’t you retire for the day, Young Master?

I am certain you must already be exhausted after everything that has happened today.

Tomorrow’s realm expedition will be both arduous and dangerous, so it would be best if you entered it in your peak condition."

Ethan naturally understood the hidden meaning behind her words.

The discussion had ended, and he was required to leave.

Without wasting another moment, he slowly rose from his chair before glancing toward Elis, silently signaling for her to lead him to the room prepared for him.

Standing quietly behind him, Elis immediately understood his intention.

Shixea naturally noticed the brief exchange and nodded lightly.

"Elis, escort Young Master to his chambers."
