Chapter 827: Bone Demon’s Thorn (3)

5 min read

Third Person’s POVTo everyone present, it felt as though a poor villager had suddenly walked into the treasury of an ancient empire and been handed one of its priceless treasures.

Their pride suffered an invisible blow.

Such materials rarely appeared even within the prosperous Central Divine Region, yet Ethan had casually taken one out from his spatial ring and then thrown it across the room as though it were nothing more than an ordinary stick.

This was especially true for Erius.

He was the son of the mighty Ice Emperor himself and should have been the one casually displaying such unfathomable treasures before others.

Unfortunately, reality was far different from the extravagant fantasies countless people held regarding imperial princes and princesses.

Although the Ice Emperor loved his children, he had never excessively favored either of them.

He provided them with the magical resources befitting their talents and statuses, but beyond that, he rarely interfered in their growth or showered them with extraordinary privileges.

Treasures of this level were nothing for a being like the Ice Emperor.

As for Shixea, it was not impossible for her to procure it, but they certainly weren’t things that could be casually bestowed upon a young prince still residing within the Crystal Formation Realm.

Yet Ethan had not only possessed such a treasure, but he had also thrown it at someone else’s head merely to shut them up.

At that moment, the mysterious young man sitting lazily before them seemed to become even more unfathomable than before.

Everyone present found themselves wondering the same thing.

Just how had Ethan managed to obtain something as extraordinary as the spine thorn of a mid-stage Rank Four Bone Demon?

To them, such a treasure shouldn’t even have existed within the Northern Glacial Region.

Yet none of them could have imagined the truth that a year ago, Ethan had crossed blades with such a terrifying Bone Demon deep within the heart of the Blood Veil Continent itself.

It had been a battle so hopeless that death had hovered over him from beginning to end.

Even after unleashing the terrifying darkness that had originated from the deepest reaches of his own Dark Magic Dimension, whose origin he still didn’t know, and causing a catastrophic dark eruption powerful enough to eclipse the heavens themselves, it had failed to inflict even a minor degree of damage upon that monstrous Bone Demon.

In the end, it had only managed to beguile its senses for a bit.

The difference in strength between the two had simply been too vast.

That creature had not been an ordinary Bone Demon.

It had been one of the most powerful subordinates of the Enforcement Elder Solomon.

Had the mysterious Red Lady not intervened at the final moment, Ethan would most likely have died on that battlefield.

However, while the world-shaking battle between the Red Lady and Elder Solomon had raged across the heavens, Ethan hadn’t remained idle.

Understanding the priceless value of every fragment belonging to such a powerful creature, he had quietly gathered several of the shattered bone thorns scattered throughout the battlefield before storing them inside his spatial ring.

That seemingly insignificant action had unknowingly left him with a treasure capable of making even powerful organizations fight over it.

Meanwhile, Master Drogo’s hands had already begun trembling uncontrollably.

He stared at the sinister grey thorn lying across his palms as though he were holding a divine relic.

His breathing became heavier with every passing second.

As for the anger that had filled his heart only moments ago, it had completely disappeared, and in its place remained only disbelief and excitement.

Yet Ethan still wasn’t finished.

Leaning comfortably against his chair, he smiled faintly before asking in an unhurried tone,

"So, can I choose my weapon now, old man?"

Those simple words instantly snapped Master Drogo back to reality.

The old artifact refiner hurriedly looked up, but this time, there wasn’t even the slightest trace of arrogance remaining on his wrinkled face.

Instead, an overly enthusiastic smile spread from ear to ear.

He nodded so vigorously that his white beard bounced up and down.

"Of course!"

"Of course, Young Master!

Please forgive this old fool’s lack of judgment.

I didn’t recognize greatness standing before my own eyes."

His attitude had undergone a complete transformation, and even his manner of speaking had become noticeably respectful.

Master Drogo wasn’t an idiot.

On the contrary, he had survived for so many decades and was in such a high and respected position precisely because he knew when to be stubborn and when to lower his head.

Most people, after obtaining such a treasure by chance, would desperately try to hide it while pretending to downgrade its value.

Others would boast about their fortune.

Some might even invent outrageous lies about slaying such a creature themselves, but Ethan had done none of those things.

He had casually thrown the priceless material across the room as though it were nothing more than a pebble lying beside the road.

That single action spoke louder than any explanation.

Only someone who had seen treasures of an even higher level could possibly remain so indifferent toward something this precious.

Master Drogo immediately sat back down before reopening the long wooden display case with almost comical speed.

"Young Master."

He gestured politely towards the neatly displayed weapons.

"Please choose whichever ones catch your eye."

At the same time, he respectfully extended the sinister bone thorn back toward Ethan.

Although his movements appeared composed, the undisguised greed flickering deep within his eyes betrayed just how reluctant he truly was to let go of it.

Naturally, that tiny detail didn’t escape Ethan’s notice, and a faint smile appeared upon his lips.

"I prefer dealing with intelligent people."

Master Drogo’s aged face immediately reddened.

He awkwardly coughed into his sleeve before forcing himself to maintain a dignified expression, pretending not to understand the hidden meaning behind Ethan’s words.

He wisely remained silent.

Meanwhile, Ethan casually reached into the display case.

Without the slightest hesitation, he picked up the sinister purple scythe and the icy-blue broadsword before placing both weapons beside his chair.
