Chapter 33: 355: The Boundary Between Life and Death (Part 2)

5 min read

Chu Xiu suddenly let out a breath and flew back again. This time, however, it took less than half a minute before he returned to the ground.

"Senior, have you discovered anything?" Jiang Miaoyin asked.

Chu Xiu pondered for a long while on the spot, finally shaking his head with a grim expression.

He had known it wouldn’t be so easy to escape, but he hadn’t expected that he wouldn’t be able to discern anything at all.

This bizarre place might not even be breakable by Heroic Spirits or Demigods skilled in the spatial Dao.

After much contemplation, Chu Xiu finally said, "For now, the only plan is to expand the search area. Maybe then we’ll find some clues."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Miaoyin was clearly aware of the seriousness of the matter. She swiftly formed a seal, and instantly a large number of Instantaneous energies surged out from her body, spreading in all directions.

Chu Xiu thought for a moment and released the Ghosts as well.

At this moment, he abandoned any thought of seeking opportunities and only wanted to escape from this eerie place.

Indeed, the Abyss was full of variables. The supposedly foolproof areas might suddenly spawn strange entities.

However, after searching for three whole days, there was still no progress.

Oddly, the space in this place seemed only to change in unoccupied areas. Initially, Chu Xiu and Jiang Miaoyin traveled dozens of miles, and when they turned back, the space behind them had changed. Yet, at this moment, he had sent the Ghosts at least a hundred miles away, and none had been relocated.

This made it even harder for Chu Xiu to understand the Rules here.

This caused Jiang Miaoyin’s eyes to show increasing fear.

"Senior, with our Summoned Creatures spread out, we’ve swept over an area that’s about the size of a planet over these three days. Why haven’t we found the boundary?"

Chu Xiu shook his head, "Not to mention the boundary, we haven’t even seen a repeated path."

His Divine Soul was strong, and he intentionally remembered the terrain they passed. While he couldn’t claim to remember every rock and hill clearly, he could remember the larger ravines and peaks.

Chu Xiu had initially thought this world trapped people by spatial changes, but after searching for three days, he hadn’t even seen familiar terrain. His shock was no less than Jiang Miaoyin’s.

Hearing his words, Jiang Miaoyin’s face became even more panicked, as she anxiously asked, "Senior, what should we do now? Are we to be trapped here for the rest of our lives?"

Chu Xiu did not answer. He just lowered his head, pondering something. After a while, he looked up and sighed, "I’m afraid it’s not that simple. Look at your index finger."

Jiang Miaoyin was taken aback, then looked down. Her face turned deathly pale as she noticed that at some point, a faint blue-black line had entwined around her porcelain-like, white-and-red nails.

Though it was barely noticeable, no matter how much Jiang Miaoyin rubbed, it wouldn’t disappear, as if it naturally grew within her nails.

"What is this, Senior?" Her voice trembled.

"If I’m not mistaken, the boundary between life and death here is blurred by some unknown Power. The dead revive, and the living are drawn into the path of the dead," Chu Xiu explained.

This statement made Jiang Miaoyin’s expression change dramatically: "Senior, do you mean I’ll become like the four from the Celestial Mechanics Guild?"

Chu Xiu pondered carefully, then suddenly raised his hand and directed a wisp of Golden Embryo Origin into Jiang Miaoyin’s hand, causing the black line to vanish.

Seeing this, Jiang Miaoyin breathed a slight sigh of relief, but before she could fully calm down, she heard Chu Xiu say, "There should be no danger in the short term, but if we can’t find any resources here, even I might end up like that over time."

Upon hearing this, her face filled with worry again.

Chu Xiu’s words were no exaggeration. A strange Power here was eroding his body. Staying here for ten or twenty years, he would eventually be drained of all he had.

Of course, if the situation seemed dire, he would decisively use the Free Deep Dive Scroll.

This item was truly a wonder, worthy of being the final reward for the Doomsday difficulty. Not even the Black Death Prison could trap him, and this mysterious place could also be escaped.

But Jiang Miaoyin was in trouble.

The black line’s erosion started faintly but would accelerate once it entered the meridians. Without Chu Xiu’s Golden Embryo Origin assistance, whether she could last three months was uncertain.

They had to find a way to escape quickly.

Let alone, he had an upcoming duel in half a year; he couldn’t waste time here.

Just as Chu Xiu was getting anxious, his expression suddenly changed, revealing a hint of joy. A Ghost on the search perimeter had spotted a giant walking across the desolate land.

Finally encountering a living being, Chu Xiu quickly directed the Garuda to approach. As they got closer, Chu Xiu’s face showed a look of surprise.

There was an enormous Copper Bull and a bipedal ape alongside the giant.

The giant seemed to be from the Exorcist tribe, but his body was bloated and swollen, over ten meters tall. His face no longer had recognizable features, appearing long dead, with flesh decaying and replenishing over centuries.

The Copper Bull was also peculiar, seemingly made entirely of Metal, yet walking as if alive. The ape was even stranger, looking more like a ferocious Ghost than an ape, with a fierce face and fangs, a Soul Body exuding ominous Yin Qi, clad in a robe embroidered with cloud patterns, making it appear particularly odd.

Among them, only the ape was King Tier; the others were General Tier. Yin Qi swirled around them, continuously absorbed into their bodies.
