--"Scarlett, look, a man like him is completely unreliable. To gain his freedom, he agreed to divorce her without hesitation."
"I’ve said it long ago, only I’m truly sincere to you, and only I can make you happy."
After a moment of silence, Maxwell Saxon slowly walked to her side, his fingers gently landing on her reddened eyes, sighing softly, and said in a gentle voice, "Do you know why he was able to come find you? I wanted to give you two a chance to talk. Now you’re clear about his attitude; you’re not important to him. As long as he can return to Z City, he can abandon you without hesitation."
"Maxwell Saxon, are you happy now?" Scarlett Yates raised her head, looking at him with a grieving expression, her voice slightly trembling, "Wasn’t all of this your plan? I’ve already agreed to divorce him. Why do you still have to do this? Do you feel satisfied seeing me upset?"
Maxwell was stunned, seeming to feel a bit sorry for her, and slightly furrowed his brow, his hand gently caressing the top of her head: "Scarlett, I’m doing this only because I care about you. You’ll never know how much I care. I hope our marriage doesn’t encounter any mistakes; I want to marry you smoothly."
His voice was deep and gentle, his gaze on her was even more affectionate and focused: "I’ve waited a long time for this day, and I don’t want it to end up in vain."
So, he must take swift action to resolve the chaos.
He said he’d give her three days, but in fact, he couldn’t even wait that long.
At every moment, so many variables can happen; in three days, there are far too many uncertainties.
He didn’t want to wait a day; if it were possible, he would want to marry her right away.
The more you care, the more you fear gaining and losing.
Even if he thought he had everything under control, he was still uneasy before he truly had her.
"Then you should be relieved now, right?" Scarlett Yates turned her head aside, a hint of anger in her eyes, avoiding his hand, stepping back two steps, glaring at him furiously, "Now he’s utterly disgusted with me. In his eyes, I’ve become a fickle woman. Without me even having to say anything, he’ll divorce me. Maxwell Saxon, your goal has been achieved. Are you very happy and proud now?"
"I’m just afraid of having long nights with more dreams, you know that. Matthew Saxon has always been cunning; I had to guard against him a bit more." He justified his actions, not feeling he’d done anything wrong, speaking with a self-assured tone.
Scarlett Yates said nothing, just glared at him fiercely.
Maxwell Saxon leaned forward: "Scarlett, don’t blame me. If I didn’t care too much about you, I wouldn’t be so anxious."
Scarlett Yates still sneered, remaining silent. Just as he was about to reach her, she took another step back, looking at him with full caution.
In her dark, soft eyes were resentment, hatred, anger, and sadness, yet her lips curled into a smile: "Mm, I don’t blame you. You’re so fond of me; it’s my privilege. I’m too happy to blame you."
"Young Master Saxon, thank you for thinking so highly of me and remembering me for over ten years. You’ve been so good to me; I’m really moved, truly moved."
Every word was a sarcastic jab at him. Maxwell Saxon wasn’t deaf to it, yet he still gazed at her warmly and tenderly, speaking in a soft voice that made her cringe, "In the future, I’ll treat you even better."
