Scarlett Yates truly felt he had psychological issues. Yet Maxwell Saxon softly whispered by her ear, "Scarlett, you’d better not lie to me. You know, if you deceive me, I can’t handle you, but I have ways to make those you care about pay the price."
His voice was light and gentle, as if whispering sweet nothings into her ear.
Scarlett Yates felt a chill all over, as though cold air had seeped into her body, making her tremble lightly.
"You don’t trust me?" Fear crept into her heart, yet she forced a smile while looking at him, "Now Matthew Saxon is in your hands, I’m under your surveillance, everything is under you and Dad’s control, what more could you be worried about?"
"Even if I wanted to do something, I would need the capability. I’m just an ordinary person without power or influence. Do you think I have that kind of ability?"
Maxwell Saxon stared at her for a while, not revealing whether he believed her. He curled his lips into a smile, letting out a soft chuckle, his slender fingers caressing her tense face, "Hmm, I also believe you wouldn’t deceive me. After all, it’s easier for me to crush Matthew Saxon than an ant. You care so much about him, you surely wouldn’t be foolish enough to do anything you shouldn’t."
Did he notice something?
Scarlett Yates maintained a calm appearance but was a bit tense inside.
She believed she hadn’t shown any flaws. Maxwell Saxon suddenly saying this was likely a deliberate attempt to test her, to see if she’ll show any guilty expression.
Although her mind was a mess, she had to remain calm and composed to deal with him to prevent him from truly noticing something.
The Ferris wheel rose higher and higher.
At the highest point, Maxwell Saxon suddenly tightened his grip on her hand: "Scarlett Yates, do you truly want to marry me?"
Scarlett Yates didn’t think much of it, assuming he was simply suspicious: "Didn’t I already tell you? Why ask again."
Maxwell Saxon then squeezed her hand tightly, eyes fixed on her, a hint of urgency within them: "I want you to say it again, do you really want to marry me, become my wife?"
Suddenly increasing force, Scarlett Yates felt as if her finger bones were about to be crushed. She couldn’t understand why he got so excited all of a sudden, causing her to frown in pain: "Am I sincere, haven’t you discerned that already? Maxwell Saxon, you want me to marry you, fine, I agree, but if you want my true heart, sorry, I can’t give it."
"From the beginning, you knew exactly where my heart was."
"You said it yourself, Scarlett." As the Ferris wheel slowly descended, he let go of her hand, his eyes subtly flashing, and after a few seconds of silence, he slowly said, "As long as you want to marry me, that’s enough. As for everything else, I’m not in a hurry. I believe time can change many things."
After saying this, he didn’t say much more, calmly turned, and looked out at the scenery.
A few minutes later, the Ferris wheel stopped.
After getting off, walking a while, Maxwell Saxon took the initiative to ask her, "Scarlett, are you curious why I specifically brought you to ride the Ferris wheel?"
Scarlett Yates paused, then nodded.
In her heart, she was indeed curious. This Ferris wheel seemed nothing special, after a ride, it felt even more ordinary.
Maxwell Saxon curled his lips, lifted his head, looked at the Ferris wheel they had just ridden, and spoke lightly, "People here say the Ferris wheel at Sky City is magical. As it rises to the highest point, words spoken will become reality. You just said you’re willing to marry me, so I believe you truly will become my wife."
