Maxwell Saxon is certainly not simple. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gained Noah Yates’ favor.
Noah wants to recruit Maxwell to work for him, and Maxwell wants to rely on the big tree that is Noah to gain benefits. Both of them are using each other. Such a relationship won’t last long; if one side gets greedy, the other won’t have a good ending.
To use an animal analogy, Noah and Maxwell are like cunning, sly foxes.
These two can come together for benefits now, and in the future, they are bound to turn against each other for benefits.
No matter who ends up on the losing side, Scarlett Yates will have no sympathy.
As soon as she and Matthew Saxon leave A Country, everything here will have nothing to do with her.
Old Master Yates has already spoken; tomorrow she can leave this dreadful place with Matthew Saxon.
Just need to wait one more night...
--
Old Master Yates said a few words to her, then mentioned being tired. Scarlett received the reliable news, felt relieved and happy, and left with satisfaction.
Just as she left, her phone rang.
She had it on vibrate; the phone rested in her bag, buzzing repeatedly, making a humming sound.
The number was unfamiliar, and she hesitated before not answering.
After ringing for a long time, the call ended.
But within ten seconds, the phone vibrated again.
It was still that unfamiliar number, ringing persistently, as if refusing to stop until she answered.
Scarlett eventually answered the call.
Pressing the answer button, she softly said hello and politely asked, "Hello, I’m Scarlett Yates. Who is this?"
"Scarlett, I’m going to South River Hospital to see Matthew. Do you want to come along?" Maxwell Saxon’s cool and magnetic voice came through, sounding even better on the phone than in real life, like a radio host.
Just hearing this voice could capture someone’s heart.
Yet, for Scarlett, this voice was like a nightmare.
Her hand shook, nearly dropping the phone.
"I heard Matthew is in South River Hospital. We’ve come all the way to A Country, and it wouldn’t be right not to visit him. After all, we’re brothers with some bond." Maxwell seemed to be smiling; from his tone, he sounded joyful.
This despicable, shameless man!
He’s using Matthew Saxon to threaten her!
"Maxwell Saxon, I warn you, if you dare do anything to harm Matthew Saxon, forget about me marrying you." Scarlett was afraid of Maxwell.
His obsession was so deep, he truly would do anything to achieve his goals.
Knowing tomorrow she and Matthew would leave, she didn’t want any trouble at this critical moment.
So, no matter what Maxwell has planned, she must warn him in advance, or if he really acts against Matthew behind her back, it’ll be too late for her to stop him.
"Scarlett, you agreed to marry me?" Maxwell’s voice changed, sounding surprised, mixed with a hint of delight.
Scarlett decided to lie and appease him, "You’ve threatened me with Matthew Saxon; how could I not agree?"
She intentionally used an angry and sarcastic tone, "You’re calling me now to remind me that Matthew is in your hands, and if I don’t obey, you’ll harm him, aren’t you? You think in such circumstances, I have the power to choose? Whatever happens, it’s all determined by you."
