Chapter 3: Lazy Sovereign

6 min read

All the students’ eyes were blinded because of the sudden bright light. Even the officers were surprised by this sudden commotion. Everyone covered their eyes with their hands.

After the light vanished, everyone slowly opened their eyes. The students were speechless. The general looked at Aster and hugged him tightly.

"Finally, an awakener! I have never seen a light this bright. I can’t even imagine how strong of a class you awakened," the general said with joy while hugging Aster.

"Why did I awaken? Why did I awaken? Why did I awaken?" Aster mumbled with a heartbroken expression.

"Cough! Cough! General, you’re hurting the student," the young female officer said.

"Oh, I am so sorry, kid. I got too excited seeing my boot camp finally produce a strong class awakener. BTW, I am General Cassius Dreadmoor, and this is Captain Lyra Ashbourne. What is your name, and what class have you awakened?"

Aster, who was shocked because his lazy life plan was about to be ruined, came to his senses.

"I am Aster Vale, and I don’t know what class I have awakened."

Although Aster was sad, the people standing in front of him were not some nobodies he could ignore, so he replied honestly.

"Right, you were a beggar till now, so you don’t know about these things. Just say ’System’ in your mind, and you can see your class," General Cassius said.

"System," Aster said in his mind, and a system window popped up in front of him.

"What? A hologram? Is this the system?" Aster thought.

System:

Class: Lazy Sovereign

"It says my class name is Lazy Sovereign," Aster said.

"Hmmm... Never heard about this class. It might be a unique class that was never found before. Captain Lyra, report this to the headquarters and take Aster to the dining hall. Looking at his body, he could collapse at any time. We will discuss his class later," General Cassius said.

"Roger!" Captain Lyra said.

Captain Lyra had dark crimson hair and amber eyes. Aster walked with her to the dining hall. The hall was really big, and each table was long enough for 30–40 people.

"Here all the food is free for today. Eat as much as you can," Captain Lyra said.

Aster looked at all the food on the menu. All this expensive food is free? Aster didn’t hold back and ate as much as his tummy could fit. After eating, Aster was sent to a temporary room. He was also given a uniform of the military college.

"You will rest today. Tomorrow is the dormitory ranking tournament. Here are the four types of dormitory rankings: Tier 1 to Tier 4. The top 10 students will be given Tier 1 dormitories, which are very luxurious, and all the training items and food are free from the military. Tier 2 is for the rest of the students. Here they have to earn points for food. Tier 3 is for the students who didn’t awaken but still want to train. The military will not provide them anything; they have to do it themselves. And finally, Tier 4 is for the staff. They do daily chores and get paid," Captain Lyra said.

"Captain, can I go to Tier 4?" Aster asked with an embarrassed smile, scratching his head.

Lyra stared at him for a second.

"Your class hasn’t been seen before, so we don’t know how powerful it is. If it proves to be trash, we may send you to Tier 4," Captain Lyra said.

"Really? Yes, I still have a chance. I just have to prove to them that my class is trash, and I can enjoy a lazy life," Aster thought.

"But I hope yours is a strong class. If you want to make a name for yourself, you need to face many dangers, and to survive them you need to work hard, even if your class is strong," Captain Lyra motivated Aster.

"Yes, yes, you’re right, Captain," Aster put on a fake smile, agreeing with her. "Huh? Who wants to become famous? I just want to slack off. Tomorrow I’ll show them how trash my class is."

After Captain Lyra left, Aster lay down on the bed.

"So soft."

He closed his eyes.

"Even though this is only a temporary room, this bed is better than any bed I had in my previous life. BTW, I didn’t properly see what my class does," Aster thought and said "System" in his mind again.

System Window:

Class: Lazy Sovereign

Level: 01

Attack: 10

Mana: 10

Intelligence: 30

Speed: 10

Vitality: 10

Talent: Infinite Weapon Manifestor (SSS+)

User can manifest the attack effect of any weapon the user is currently touching without physically using it. The manifestation costs Mana.

Talent: Sloth’s Authority (SSS+)

When the user remains completely motionless, the mana cost of all skills is reduced by 99%. The effect ends immediately once the user moves.

Talent: Lazy Inspection (SSS+)

Automatically identifies any target within sight, revealing its basic information, level, race, skills, and weaknesses depending on the user’s proficiency. No activation required.

SSS+? Wasn’t the highest rank SSS? Why is there a + there? And what luck, all three of my talents are of the highest rank. Why didn’t I get this lucky in my previous life?

Let me at least try them once.

There was no weapon in the room, only a broom.

System Window:

Name: Broom

Durability: 230/250

Is this my talent, Lazy Inspection? It can show information about anything.

Aster touched the broom.

System Window:

Skill:

Sweep Level 1: Manifest 1 sweep per second if holding a broom. Range: 1 m.

I got a skill? Let’s try it. But how do I activate it? Maybe like the system, I have to think of it.

"Sweep."

As soon as he thought of it, a almost invisible sweeping effect manifested before him and cleaned the floor a little.

Sweep Level 1 (1/1000)

What is that number next to it? Oh, I see. It will level up after I use it 1000 times.

So I got Sweep for touching the broom? What if I hold it upside down?

Skill:

Strike Level 1: Manifest 1 strike per second if holding a staff/stick. Range: 1 m.

Now it takes it as a stick. Okay, let’s try it.

"Strike."

Instantly, an almost invisible striking effect manifested and hit the wall. This is so optimized for someone like me who wants a lazy life. With this, I don’t have to train like others. And because I didn’t move, I barely lost any mana.

But great power comes with great responsibilities.

I don’t want it.

If the higher-ups find out about this, I am sure they will send me on dangerous missions. Tomorrow I’ll act like an absolute idiot and take the Tier 4 dormitory.
