Chapter 82: Emily and Ava backstory + System Roasts
The first thing Lynx noticed when he opened his eyes was the light.
It wasn’t the harsh white of morning. It was amber, thick and lazy, bleeding through the crack under the door in thin, tired lines and painting them across the ceiling.
8:00 AM.
He remembered throwing his phone at 4:00 AM and he slept. Four hours. That was all.
He rolled onto his back, exhaled, and let the silence settle over him. His chest rose and fell, slow and even. Even with Primordial Healing running in the background, he’d expected to feel drained. Not weak in any sense, just mentally drained. His brain works differently from any creature, and also tons of ancient, rare, old, new techniques of all his affinities stored there, and he need rest, mentally.
He was, after all, still just an 18 year old kid, at least physically, with the soul of a 25 year old man, and power that the world wasn’t ready for.
But he didn’t feel drained. He felt... sharper. Cleaner. Like every cell in his body had been wrung out and refilled.
’Huh,’ he thought, staring at the ceiling. ’Sleeping after sex really is a stat buff.’
The mattress shifted under him as he sat up. The sheets were ruined. Twisted, damp, stained in ways that told the whole story of the last seven hours without saying a word.
The air still smelled faintly of her, of sweat, and skin, and that expensive shampoo she is using.
And in the center of it all, curled on her side like she was trying to make herself smaller, was Amira.
She was still unconscious, or asleep. He didn’t know what to call it.
Her hair was spread out across the pillow, dark and tangled, with strands stuck to her forehead and her cheek. Her lips were parted, soft and swollen.
There were faint red marks trailing down her neck, across her collarbone, down to her hip where his fingers had dug in too hard. A small bruise was forming on her ribs. Her skin was flushed, even in sleep, like her body hadn’t quite cooled down yet.
She looked wrecked. Ruined, and beautiful.
Lynx’s chest did something weird. It tightened.
’System dude,’ he said quietly, rubbing a hand over his face. ’Help me out here. At this rate she’s not gonna wake up today.’

"Dude, that’s not what I asked, I—"
The system cut him off, and its voice was different than other systems. Less mechanical. It was Smoother.

A dull throb hit the back of his skull, sharp for half a second, then gone as Primordial Healing erased it.
Lynx blinked, slow. "The Emily and Ava case..."
Right. The system had just shoved the information straight into his head. No warning. Just here it is, do what you want to do with it.
Classic System behavior.
Before he could follow that thread, pain lanced through him. Low, sudden, and vicious.
He jerked, teeth gritting. It had been a long time since he felt anything close to pain. Two seconds later, Primordial Healing kicked in and smoothed it over, but the memory of it stayed.
He looked down.
Ten inches. He’d been nine and a half yesterday. Now it was a clean, solid ten, with that faint pearlescent sheen that is always there. Even muted under the Veil Band, his skin still had that soft glow.
The system’s note echoed: 40x more pleasure felt for the receiving girl, zero pain for any girl he sleeps with, Virgin or Not.
"Great," he muttered. "More problems. Now I can’t do one night stands. They’ll become addicted to my cock." He rubbed his temples. "Fuck."
He forced his brain to switch tracks. Ava. Emily. Since they were both going to end up his, it made sense to fix what was broken between them first.
The story unfolded in his head, clear as if he’d lived it.
Emily’s father had worked in Ava’s father’s bank headquarters bank. Not close friends, but familiar with each other. When the previous managing director was caught embezzling, Emily’s dad got the promotion. For 2 years, they lived well. Big house, good food, no worries.
Then Emily turned sixteen.
The Goddess just... chose her. Marked her as Blessed. Emily became a Blessed.
Ava’s father and father father’s had prayed for generations. No Blessed in his bloodline. And now his employee’s daughter is a Blessed.
Jealousy rotted him from the inside.
He started looking for reasons to... found one. Fired Emily’s father.
Within a week, the money stopped. Sold the house, food, everything... and because Emily wasn’t registered yet, the Empire stipend hadn’t kicked in. They went from rich to broke that fast.
Then the registration came through. Empire funds. Housing support. Connections. Because in this Empire or world maybe?, but in this empire a Blessed in your house meant you would never be poor again. If you were poor, you got rich. If you were rich, you got richer.
Lynx rubbed his temple. "Ava’s family’s at fault. I just need to get Ava to apologize to Emily, and they’ll... uh... I’ll figure it out later."
He stood, stretching. His spine popped in three places. He pulled up his stats with a thought.

"Okay," he murmured. "Stats are still climbing. Nyx’s power is ridiculous. And the sexcapades are making my APS boom. This is actually nice."
He yawned, rolling his shoulders.
"System, spin one APS for me. Let’s see if I’m lucky again."
[...APS SPIN (0) — (1). –10,000 APS points.]
The air shimmered. A wheel, impossibly fast and nearly invisible, spun in front of his eyes. Symbols blurred into streaks of light.
[NOTHING!!! TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME]
Lynx stared. "...the fuck."
Nothing for the first time ever and he already hated the feeling.
"Spin again."
[...APS SPIN (0) — (1). -10,000 APS points.]
[NOTHING!!! TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME]
"Again."
[...APS SPIN (0) — (1). -10,000 APS points.]
[NOTHING!!! TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME]
And then he heard it. A low, faint chuckle. His own system, laughing at him.
"Stop! Fucking stop spinning it!!"
[...hahaha]
"Shut up, dude."
He turned back to the bed. Amira still hadn’t moved. Her breathing was deep, but her face was pale with exhaustion.
"Okay, help me out," he said, holding his hand over her chest. "How does this work again?"
[Just leave your hands that way and I’ll do the rest... —300 APS points.]
"300 points? Bastard."
A warm light, soft and gold, flowed from his palm into her. It sank under her skin, chasing away fatigue, easing the ache in her muscles, telling her Blessed body to repair faster. The love marks stayed though.
Amira’s eyelashes fluttered.
"L-Lynx? ...w-what.."
Her voice was wrecked. Hoarse. Like she’d been screaming for hours. Which, to be fair, she had.
Lynx was already moving. He slid one arm under her knees, the other supporting her back, and lifted her like she weighed nothing.
"Don’t worry," he said, his voice low. "Let’s bath first."
She blinked up at him, grey eyes hazy, and then her arms came up, locking around his neck. Not desperate. Just... afraid he’d let go.
The bathroom was already steaming. He must’ve turned the water on in his sleep, or the system did. Marble floors, gold fixtures, a tub big enough for three. The water was hot, rising in slow curls of steam that fogged the mirror.
He stepped in, still holding her, and the water came up to his waist. It was perfect. Hot enough to loosen muscles, not enough to burn.
Amira made a soft sound in her throat and buried her face against his neck. Her skin was still warm from sleep.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Mm," she mumbled. "Just tired."
He poured water over her shoulders with his free hand, washing away the night. Her hair went dark and heavy, sticking to her back. He worked slowly.
"You passed out on me," he said teasing her.
"You did that," she replied, but there was no anger to it. Just exhaustion, and something softer underneath.
Silence fell again, comfortable this time. Just the sound of water, and her breathing.
Lynx stared at the ceiling, thinking about Emily and Ava and the mess their fathers made. About his damn system laughing at him three times in a row.
Amira shifted, resting her head on his shoulder. "What are you thinking about?"
"Stuff," he said. "Boring stuff."
"Liar," she whispered, and he could hear the smile in it.
He looked down at her. Her face was clean now, the makeup and sweat washed away. Her eyes were clear, grey and bright. Her lips were still a little swollen. The marks on her neck and collarbone were fading, but slowly.
She was beautiful like this. Amira Kay. Tired, soft, and clinging to him like he was the only solid thing in the world.
"You’re staring," she whispered.
"You’re hard to look away from."
Her cheeks went pink. "After everything we did, and you can still make me blush?"
He didn’t answer. He just pulled her closer, letting the hot water run over both of them. Her fingers drew small circles on his chest, idle, content.
For a few minutes, there was nothing. Then Amira hands started moving down from his chest. She grabbed his dick, which got hard immediately. That bastard. She felt the slight change and looked up at him with her grey eyes. He was looking at her too.
Then he smiled... and it wasn’t good.
