Chapter 73: Lynx in Kira’s Room.
The Lightning Affinity trial wasn’t supposed to end before 3 PM.
It was on the schedule, 1 PM to 3 PM, two full hours where Teacher Jace would organize a 15 v 15. Then at least 5 fight would happen. That’s how the normal way is, that’s how it was supposed to be.
But Jace didn’t follow normal.
By 1:40 PM the arena was empty, the lights were still on, and the only sounds were the healers whispering in the hallways and the faint buzz of phones recording from the stands. Because after Ava, after Eira, after Lynx, there was no point in continuing.
Ava went first. She was the strongest Lightning Affinity student in Year 2, everyone knew that, and she proved it by lasting nine whole minutes against Jace. Nine minutes where she forced him to stop holding back, forced him to go to thirty percent.
Her lightning colliding with his in bright, violent flashes. When she walked out, her uniform was burned in places, her hair was messy, but she was smiling, because she’d made a teacher bleed at least even if only a drop.
Eira went next after the 9th person. She was second strongest, and she gave everything. Every drop of mana, every blessing, every bit of pride she had.
She lasted four minutes. Four minutes at thirty percent, and then one hit landed, and she was in the infirmary with cracked ribs and healers telling her to stay still. She hadn’t even touched her phone.
She Just watched Lynx match through one of the healers phone and was jubilating with her cracked ribs jumping and dancing really bad and cracked a few more ribs in process.
The other twenty six students didn’t last thirty seconds. Not one of them. Jace would step in, throw one attack, and they’d be down. That was the point. He wasn’t here to waste time on people who weren’t ready. He picked his strongest, tested them, and when he was done, he was done.
And then Lynx stepped in.
Lynx didn’t last nine minutes. He didn’t last four. He fought Jace like an equal, traded blow for blow, made the man’s lip split and his knee hit the ground, and then he forfeited. Just like that. No injuries, no stains on his clothes, not even breathing hard.
Teacher Jace was one of the ten strongest Blessed in the entire Academy, and Lynx walked away from him like it was a warm-up.
Right now, Lynx didn’t know any of that mattered.
He wasn’t checking his phone. He wasn’t on the academy news. He was lying on Kira’s bed in the Year 2 girls building, hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling while Kira and Emily talked around him.
"His trial is at 4 PM," Kira said, brushing a strand of hair out of his face, "so we’re helping him relax."
"Very helpful," Emily added, leaning over him, her shoulder brushing his arm, "extremely helpful."
They weren’t really helping. They were just close. Kira’s knee kept bumping his side. Emily’s hair kept falling over his chest.
Every few seconds one of them would "accidentally" touch him, and he’d close his eyes and let them, because it was nice, and because he had an hour before he had to go break another teacher.
Before this, they’d gone to see Eira.
The infirmary was crowded, and the moment Lynx walked in, three healers pulled out their phones. One of them was obviously recording. He was more popular now than after the fight against Jace. His name was everywhere.
Eira was lying in bed. Her phone wasn’t with her. She hadn’t seen the news.
"I heard from the healers what happened to you after I left. And honestly I can’t stay mad at you."
Eira smiled weakly, "I’m proud of you anyway, you strong handsome fucking machine. You really avenged me."
After that, the girls decided he needed rest. Even though he told them five times that he was fine, that his body didn’t need rest, that he could fight ten more Jaces, they just laughed and grabbed his arms and dragged him out of the infirmary.
The Year 2 girls building was massive.
Everything In this Academy was massive, because these weren’t normal humans. These were Blessed. They didn’t live in cramped dorms with bunk beds.
They lived in buildings with high ceilings, wide halls, and space to breathe. Year 1 and Year 2 shared one building. Year 3 and Year 4 shared the other. The boys had the same setup.
Even though Year 1 and Year 2 were in the same building, they rarely crossed paths, same thing in the Year 3 and 4 building and at the Boys Building.
The wings were too far apart. The halls were too big. This wasn’t Earth. This was Aetherion, and Blessed lived like kings. They are Kings.
But news traveled fast, and the moment Lynx walked in with Kira and Emily, every girl in the hallway stopped.
First, they saw the mark. A silver sigil on his forehead, not gold like theirs.
Then his eyes. Heterochromatic. Blue and silver, with gold flecks that caught the light.
Then his hair. Silver and gold, falling past his shoulders.
Then his glowing body. All Blessed glowed. They were clean, perfect, untouchable. But Lynx glowed brighter. Sharper. Like he was carved from something divine. Even without his aura, without bloodlust, with just his face, he looked unreal.
"Is that him?"
"That’s him. That’s Lynx."
"Look at his mark. It’s silver."
Some girls got loud.
Some got bold. One leaned against the wall and lifted her skirt a little. Another laughed and adjusted her top so half her breast showed. They were in their building. No uniforms. Just shorts, crop tops, and confidence.
Lynx ignored all of it. But he remembered a few hot girls faces. For later useful purposes of course.
Kira’s room was big like his old one, but way more prettier. No translucent door separating the rooms. It’s more like a self contained apartment than a room.
Two big beds, a couch. Big windows. Big Everything. And a girl sitting on the second bed, green hair falling past her waist, green eyes wide.
"Kira welcome b—" She froze mid sentence when she saw Lynx. Her mouth was half open. Her face went red in half a second.
"Kira," Lynx said, smiling, "why didn’t you tell me you had a friend? A cute one at that, as your roommate."
The girl shot to her feet, stammering, "O-Oh my god, Kiraaa, how could you do this, you know I’m his fan, die hard fan, well, after the President of the Lynxcrushers and those crazy junior girls, but I’m still his fan and you couldn’t tell him about me?"
Kira rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah. Maybe I forgot. I only recently found out about your obsession with him... and we just started talking Lira."
"And whose fault is that?" the green-haired girl shot back, hands on her hips, suddenly brave, "We’ve been through Year 1 together. We’re roommates in Year 2. And unless I ask you something, you don’t talk to me. You treat me like air."
Emily burst out laughing and went straight to her, grabbing her cheeks, "Damn, Kira, this sucks," she said, squeezing, "How could you do this to this beautiful greeny here." Then she turned serious for half a second, "Sorry about my friend. She’s only just discovering her emotions."
Lynx laughed. The green haired girl laughed too, shy but real.
Lynx checked her stats and Her name was Lira Veyne. Wind affinity. Very cute and beautiful face. Her green eyes were big. Her breast were big, looked so soft. She got Curves that didn’t quit. And right now, she was staring at him like he hung the stars.
"I bet her ass is really soft."
[It got to be soft Lynx]
"Wasn’t talking to you system dude."
Kira pulled Lynx to her side of the room and pushed him gently onto her bed. It was stupidly soft. He sank into it with a groan.
Emily checked her phone, "Relax. It’s only 2:30 PM. He’s got plenty of time before the Earth trial."
That’s when Lira tilted her head, "What trial? Haven’t you guys checked the news?"
"What news?" Kira asked.
"You need to check it. It was posted a few minutes ago."
She pulled out her phone. Cleared her throat. And read it out loud, her voice shaking a little.
"BREAKING: Year 2 student Lynx Azarion, 18 years old. First person in Human History to be a 3 or more affinity user, and he has 5 Affinities. He has been selected as one of the 50 students to represent AETHER Blessed Academy.
Only 44 slots remain, as Lynx occupies all 5 slots. Ava Musk from Year 2 Lightning Affinity Class occupies the 6th slot. Just 4 more Year 2 students remaining to fill up the 10 Year 2 students representing us."
Silence.
For a full minute, nobody breathed.
Then Lira squealed, "Isn’t he wonderful? This man is great. Love you Lynx. I’m your useful servant anytime you need me." She said the last sentence slowly and shyly but they heard her.
Emily was already launching herself at him, arms around his neck, "You’re so great, Lynx. You’re so fucking great."
Kira hugged him too, from the other side. He was completely smothered between them, Kira and Emily’s breasts pressed to his chest, their warmth everywhere.
Lira stood there, red faced, jealous. She wanted to join. She wanted it so bad. But she was too shy. Too scared of looking like a weirdo. Jumping at the guy you just met and staring at him with big green eyes. "What if he sees me as a weirdo." she thought.
They talked for hours after that. Laughed. Played stupid phone games. Lira made thirty or more videos with Lynx. Emily made fifteen. Kira made twenty. By the time they realized it, it was 6 PM.
They missed the Earth trial entirely.
Lynx’s phone buzzed. A notification from a new account. His had almost a million followers now. Most of them normal humans. Almost every Year 1 and Year 2 Blessed student. His DMs were flooded.
Even some humans from the other empires had followed him. His transcendental face and some few clips of him were doing magic online.
"Come to the Earth Affinity Arena. It’s urgent"
"Who’s that?" Lira asked, as the person had interrupted her talk with Lynx.
"Someone who got balls. Invited me to the Earth Affinity Arena."
Lynx stood up, stretching, "Guess I’m late."
"We’re coming with you," Kira said immediately.
"I’ll come too." Lira said shyly.
"What? You never leave this room. It’s your sanctuary." Kira was clearly taken aback by what Lira just said.
"There’s a first time for everything. And with Lynx I hope he gets all my first times." Lira muttered, face going red.
Emily just laughed. Really laughed. "You’re so adorable." She turned to Lynx. "You just got a cute fan girl. I’m envious."
Lynx walked to Lira and took the crimson face girl hand, her eyes went bigger. "Let’s go Lira... Kira, Emily. Let’s not keep that person waiting."
They eventually left. After a few more teases.
