He’s a man, and won’t stoop to bickering with a woman.
Anyway, she will become his wife, and he will be her husband.
What fiance, what Lucifer, to hell with them all.
Her man, from beginning to end, is him alone.
He was her first man, and will be the last.
Sophie just assumed he agreed, she looked at the man in black driving, "To the manor."
Then, she announced the manor’s address.
...
The black convoy was intercepted at the manor entrance by the guards.
The guard looked at Sophie who got out of the car and respectfully said, "Miss Cecilia Branford."
Thomas Shannon got out of the car and came to her side, but the guard only gestured for Sophie, completely intending to keep Thomas Shannon outside the door.
This scene felt familiar.
In the past, outside Thomas Shannon’s manor in Country A, this was exactly how he kept Lucifer outside the manor.
Nowadays, the tables have turned, and it’s Thomas Shannon’s turn to be stopped ruthlessly at the entrance of Lucifer’s manor, unable to enter.
"Fennie." Thomas Shannon squinted his eyes dangerously, hinting for Sophie to bring him inside with her.
Sophie smiled mischievously, but when he glared at her with cold eyes, she innocently shrugged, "Thomas Shannon, there’s no use glaring at me; it’s not me who’s not letting you in, it’s Lucifer. So, why don’t you just head back, I’ll come find you when I can."
Having said that, she slipped like a slippery little eel immediately past the guard and ran inside.
Charlie River stepped forward and asked quietly, "Young Master, do you want to force your way in?"
If forced entry was the plan, he was pretty confident.
But it couldn’t happen without provoking a confrontation.
"No need." Thomas Shannon watched as Sophie’s shadow disappeared into the car, letting out a cold snort.
Sophie, you’re really something, I’ll deal with you sooner or later.
Make sure that little head of yours remembers this!
Lucifer was lazily sunbathing on the lawn with Gabby, Sophie quickened her pace, "Lucifer, Gabby, I’m back!"
Lucifer raised his eyelids languidly, giving her a glance.
Gabby responded even more indifferently, resting his head on Lucifer’s legs without moving at all, as if he hadn’t heard.
Sophie’s smile froze, and she coughed lightly to ease the awkwardness.
What’s going on here?
Really angry?
"Lucifer?"
"..."
"Gabby?"
"..."
Well played, Lucifer didn’t even look at her, and Gabby didn’t even lift an eyelid.
Attitude, she liked that!
Sophie sat down beside Lucifer, leaning closer to him, gently nudging him, "Lucifer, are you mad at me?"
"No." Lucifer lightly stroked Gabby’s head with his hand.
He says no, but he’s clearly angry, just won’t admit it.
Sophie knew she was in the wrong and couldn’t act up, so she flashed a conspiratorial smile, "Okay, it’s my fault, Lucifer, don’t be mad, alright?"
Lucifer’s scarlet thin lips curled up into an almost imperceptible smile, and he slowly turned his head, finally looking Sophie in the eye, "Cecilia, do you really want me to calm down?"
Sophie nodded, "Really want to!"
"Alright, then promise me, no staying out all night from now on."
Will this be forever?
"Lucifer, this..." Sophie hesitated, knowing that if Thomas Shannon decided to act like a rascal, he’d stop at nothing.
He only cared about his own desires; everything else was beyond his consideration.
Lucifer knew she wouldn’t agree so easily; Cecilia was no longer the Cecilia from back then.
