"Let’s go." The man’s dry, warm palm reached out toward her.
Sophie Sullivan glanced at it, withdrew her gaze, and walked straight ahead without looking to the side.
Thomas Shannon knew there was a knot in her inside heart, so he didn’t force her and followed behind her into the cemetery.
Thomas Shannon’s black shirt and black pants set off his tall frame, making it even more straight and imposing; Sophie Sullivan wore a plain colored dress, with no makeup on her face, yet the striking beauty between her brows and eyes was still stunning even bare-faced.
She felt heavy-hearted, and her reactions to everything in the vicinity seemed to have dulled a lot.
She didn’t even hear him call out for her to watch the stairs under her feet.
Thomas Shannon, worried, supported her shoulder; Sophie Sullivan walked with him, though in fact, she could walk this road with her eyes closed.
At that time, when her Daddy and Mommy were buried after the airplane crash, she clung to the tombstone, crying so hard she fainted more than once and still refused to leave.
After that, she came to the cemetery every day, to the tombstone of her Daddy and Mommy, not eating or drinking, just quietly staring at the photos on the tombstone.
As she stared, tears would stream down her face.
If it hadn’t been for Lucifer, she probably couldn’t have survived that torturous period of pain alone.
Now, over a year later, returning to the cemetery again, Sophie Sullivan was filled with countless emotions.
Coming before the tombstone, Sophie Sullivan took the clean towel from Charlie River’s hand and carefully wiped the dust on the tombstone, gently caressing the photos of her Daddy and Mommy on it.
Sophie Sullivan bit her lower lip, tears glimmering in her eyes, "Daddy, Mommy, Fennie has come to see you..."
Her ethereal voice carried a painful choke.
Thomas Shannon squatted down beside her, one hand gently stroking her head. He put down the Hibiscus. "Uncle and Auntie, I’m Thomas Shannon, I came with Fennie to see you."
He saw the photos of Sophie Sullivan’s Daddy and Mommy on the tombstone, both smiling brightly, still looking so young and full of life.
Yet their lives had forever vanished.
They could only sleep here eternally.
Sophie Sullivan held the tombstone, lowering her eyelids to hide the collapse and anguish deep in her eyes.
"Daddy, Uncle is a bad person. He wants to take away the inheritance Daddy left for Fennie... You can see all of this in the sky, can’t you?"
Sophie Sullivan’s voice was low and so faint it seemed the wind could scatter it.
Thomas Shannon waved his hand, signaling Charlie River and the man in black to step back.
Charlie River led the man in black away some distance, watching from afar.
"Uncle, Auntie, Fennie has suffered a lot. All this pain was brought to her by her Uncle Andres. Rest assured, I will definitely seek justice for Fennie. I’ll take back everything that belongs to her from Andres and return it to its rightful owner."
Sophie Sullivan lifted her eyelids, sniffed, tears swirling in her eye socket but stubbornly refusing to fall.
"Thomas Shannon." she called.
Thomas Shannon turned his head to look at her. Seeing the shimmering water mist in her eyes, his heart clenched fiercely, and a wave of tenderness spread rapidly from the bottom of his heart.
"Mm?" He raised his hand, wanting to touch her head, to soothe her, to give her strength.
"I want to talk to Daddy and Mommy alone for a while."
Thomas Shannon knew her temper; since he’d met her until now, he seemed to have never seen her shed tears.
She was Sophie Sullivan, and also Heiress Miss Cecilia of the Onassis Family. She had her pride; the innate arrogance she’d carried since childhood would never allow her to easily shed tears in front of others.
Thomas Shannon understood her self-esteem and her little thoughts. He nodded, then stood up and left.
