Chapter 1982: Feeding Regulations (23)

Shang Qi glanced at the girl lying on the ground, unable to move, and tried calling her twice, but she showed no response.

"I’ll call someone to come and take a look first."

Shang Qi made a phone call to Du Pei.

Du Pei, nowhere to be found, arrived reeking of alcohol and perfume, but he was quite sober.

"What the heck?" Du Pei pointed at the pitch-black surroundings, "Meeting me here, you’re not planning to succumb to your baser instincts and have your way with me, are you?"

Shang Qi: "..."

Chuzheng: "..."

Shang Qi pointed at the person on the ground, "See what’s wrong with her."

Du Pei looked in the direction Shang Qi was pointing, and two seconds later, nervously asked, "Shang Qi, you didn’t do anything, did you? Digging a hole to bury a body costs a lot!! I mean, I wouldn’t do such a thing!"

"No. She was like this when I arrived."

"Oh." Du Pei let out a sigh of relief, "Then call 120. Why call me here? Do I look like a doctor who exercises daily kindness?"

"Cut the crap."

Du Pei met Shang Qi’s gaze, realizing he wasn’t joking.

"...Alright then, let’s be merciful today." Du Pei sighed, "Poor Julie is waiting for me to return."

"Another girlfriend?"

"What do you mean another one?" Du Pei glared at Shang Qi, "I’ve never had any, don’t talk nonsense."

Shang Qi: "..."

Du Pei thought Shang Qi was in some trouble when he came and brought a medical kit, which turned out to be handy.

However, after checking over, Du Pei didn’t find anything wrong.

"Is there really nothing wrong with her looking like this?"

"Physically, she’s fine, mentally... Du Pei glanced at the girl, "seems there’s an issue."

"Let’s take her to the hospital for detailed checks." He wasn’t omnipotent; he could only do so much.

Shang Qi frowned slightly, realizing that there seemed to be no other choice for now.

"Take her to the hospital," Shang Qi commanded the bodyguards Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu following the car today.

The two immediately stepped forward, and just as they touched the girl, her vacant eyes suddenly sparked with life.

"Ah!"

The girl screamed, hugging herself in panic and curling up in a corner.

"Who are you all! What do you want! How did I end up here? Where is this place?"

A barrage of questions came crashing down, leaving Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu at a loss for how to respond.

Following orders, Shang Qi stepped forward two paces, "You don’t remember how you got here?"

The dim street lights in the alley fell on Shang Qi, outlining a handsome man’s silhouette. Holding a snow-white Little Cat in his arms, the man’s stern aura softened considerably.

Seeing Shang Qi clearly, the girl was momentarily captivated by his looks, but thankfully, she wasn’t one to be swayed by appearances, remaining cautious while hugging herself.

She passed her gaze over everyone, looking them over.

Aside from the man holding the cat, there was another handsome man with distinct air standing behind him.

"Why... am I here?" These people don’t seem normal...

"You were already here when we arrived," Shang Qi said coldly, "You don’t remember?"

The girl tried to recall and shook her head.

She could only remember being at home, getting ready to take a shower, and then... then suddenly waking up here.

"Who are you!!"

Shang Qi’s palm stroked the soft fur on Chuzheng’s neck, "We found you here."

"Huh?"

The girl looked around, wondering how she ended up here.

——Ask her if she’s experienced anything unusual lately.

"No... nothing."

Perhaps because Shang Qi didn’t appear dangerous at the moment, the girl gradually calmed down.

"Not even the slightest anomaly?"

Her mind was in chaos, instinctively shaking her head.

"Shang Qi, what exactly are you trying to ask?" Du Pei stepped forward, elbowing him, "Your behavior is strange, are you alright?"

Shang Qi was about to speak, but something caught his attention, his gaze suddenly landing on Du Pei.

Du Pei shivered under Shang Qi’s gaze, crossing his arms, "What?"

-

Chuzheng and Shang Qi were waiting under an apartment complex, Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu standing on either side, constantly scanning the surroundings.

"Yue Ban, what exactly have you been up to lately?" Going out early and coming back late, always making him do strange things.

If Chuzheng could do it herself, she wouldn’t have Shang Qi helping her.

She had no choice!

All because of that bastard.

[...] What does this have to do with me?!

——Doing big things.

Shang Qi pursued, "What big things?"

——You want to know?

Shang Qi stroked Chuzheng’s fluffy paws, "I don’t want you to get hurt." He knew too little about his little one.

He didn’t like this feeling.

——He Jin won’t let it go, I must settle him.

He Jin?

That young man...

A shadow passed over Shang Qi’s eyes, "Is it because he did something to you before?"

——He’s targeting you.

Huh?

Shang Qi hadn’t expected Chuzheng’s answer to be this.

——No one can bully you.

——You’re mine.

The night wind blew, carrying a slight chill, but Shang Qi suddenly felt a warm flow enveloping him.

He lowered his head, leaning against Chuzheng’s brow, whispering, "Yes, yours."

Chuzheng reached out her paw, patting the top of his head.

Having her own fur, Chuzheng was obviously not interested in Shang Qi’s hair, and after two pats, she withdrew.

"About He Jin..."

Shang Qi hadn’t finished speaking when Du Pei emerged from the apartment complex, leaving Shang Qi to swallow his words.

"Look, all the answers you wanted are here." Du Pei handed the recording pen to Shang Qi.

"Thanks."

"My pleasure, just make sure I don’t see you on the legal news someday."

Shang Qi shook his head, "Not for now." He hadn’t had such episodes recently.

"That’s for the best." Du Pei mischievously tried to pet Chuzheng, only for her to swipe him away with a paw, making him reluctantly withdraw his hand, "So fierce, careful you don’t find a mate!"

Hearing this, Shang Qi’s heart inexplicably fluttered, but he quickly disguised it.

Du Pei didn’t notice Shang Qi’s oddness, "By the way, why are you asking all that? Who is she?"

"Nothing much."

Du Pei was suspicious, "I think that girl is weird, is she really fine?"

"She’s fine."

Du Pei asked repeatedly, but Shang Qi kept saying nothing was wrong, knowing he wouldn’t reveal anything.

Eventually, Du Pei stopped asking; everyone has their little secrets.

He rolled up his sleeves, "Alright then, since I’m here, let’s do a check-up on you!"

Shang Qi: "..."

Chuzheng: "..."

When Du Pei was about to get off the car, he leaned on the car door, bending down, "Oh, by the way, the meds in here should last you about a month."

Shang Qi’s brow twitched violently, watching Du Pei toss a small bottle into the car, promptly caught by Chuzheng’s paw.

Du Pei!!!

Completely unaware of his mistake, Du Pei shut the car door and left.
