“DAMN IT, TIME! Watch my back! They’re attacking our tower!” Kinn shouted from across the room. I paused from organizing documents and looked up at the sound.
Kinn was shouting and clicking his mouse furiously, eyes focused on his computer game. He only let himself act silly when the two of us were alone in his room. When other people were around, he’d go back to acting serious. Now I’d spent time with him and really got to know him, I could see that he was good at putting up a front.
There was a knock on the door before someone slowly opened it. It was one of Kinn’s men. I glanced at Kinn—he straightened his back and quietly sipped his water. I pursed my lips slightly at his sudden change in demeanor.
“Mr. Kinn, your father has asked you to check on the company’s account at the office two days from now, sir,” said the newcomer. Kinn just nodded, not paying any attention. The guy gave me a hostile look before he left.
I raised my eyebrows at the closed door, confused. I knew people were getting curious these days—I’d been spending most of my time in Kinn’s room, even when I was off duty. I tried to show my face in the mess hall and find the time to sleep in the room I shared with Chay, but Kinn was always messaging me and asking me to come to
his room. He even came to fetch me when I refused. That man didn’t give a damn what his other employees thought of him.
The days went by like usual. I still worked for Kinn like I always had…but it would be a lie to say everything was the same. Whenever he saw me now, he pushed me onto his bed and had his way with me. It happened at least twice a day. I wasn’t sure if agreeing to let him replace those terrible memories of him with these new ones had been the right decision. It was like he used a permanent marker to rewrite new memories in my head every day. I hadn’t expected his sex drive to be this high!
“Argh! Don’t just stay in the middle, Tay. Join the gang, asshole!” Kinn resumed shouting at his game. I sighed and looked at him again. He could be really fucking crazy sometimes.
I returned my focus to the documents in my hand. These days, Kinn didn’t make me work as hard as he had before. He only asked me to check the status of the orders, the stock, the account—shit like that. I wasn’t that good at paperwork and I screwed it up sometimes, but Kinn didn’t seem to mind. Maybe he’d given up on nagging me.
“Mew, you cover the jungle! Fuck, he’s stealing your buff! Are you fucking blind or what?!”
Ugh! You’re so annoying, Kinn! I was trying to check these calculations and he kept screaming his head off. It was so damned difficult to concentrate!
“Can you quiet down?!” I barked. Kinn glanced at me, frowned slightly, and returned to his monitor.
“Hungry?” he suddenly asked, not looking at me.
I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already three. “Nah,” I said. “By the way, I’m staying with Chay tonight.”
It was Saturday, and I thought I should spend time with my brother. Kinn rarely let me have any free time, so I only saw my brother during meals or when we walked past each other in the house. I felt like I was neglecting him. My brother and my friends wondered why they rarely saw me. I told them I was studying with Kinn for the upcoming final exams, but I was ashamed of myself for making up excuses.
“Sure,” Kinn replied. I was surprised that he agreed, but I was also relieved that he didn’t throw a fit over it.
“And don’t keep texting me, either! Or I’ll turn off my phone,” I warned him. Kinn just snickered and continued playing his game in silence.
I continued organizing the documents and calculating revenue. The room was quiet for several minutes, and I began to feel uneasy. When Kinn was calm and peaceful like this, he was usually planning something vicious.
Kinn turned off the microphone, shut down his PC, and abruptly stood up. He took off his watch and put it on the desk. I wondered why he even put that thing on when he was home. He unbuttoned the top two buttons of his black shirt, revealing his pecs. My heart fluttered at the sight, and I quickly averted my gaze.
A chill crept down my spine as Kinn approached me. I was so nervous that I moved off the sofa before he could reach me.
“I’m hungry. I’m going to grab something to eat,” I said, piling the documents on the coffee table. I started heading for the door, but Kinn held me tightly from behind before I could take a single step.
“Let me go!” I yelled, trying to squirm out of his hold. I didn’t know why, but lately, I couldn’t fight him; I just felt so weak whenever he came close to me.
“Why are you resisting?” Kinn whispered, pressing his nose into the nape of my neck and inhaling deeply.
“Damn it, Kinn! Not in broad daylight!” I yelped, trying to pry his hands off of me to no avail.
“Why not? You aren’t sleeping with me tonight, so I’ve got to do it now while I have the chance,” he said, lightly nipping my shoulder.
“What, will you die if you don’t come every day, you asshole?” I cursed. Kinn just chuckled and continued nibbling along the column of my neck until he bit my earlobe. My body shuddered with a sudden tingling sensation.
