I woke up with a shooting pain in my backside, along with full-body aches and bone-deep exhaustion. I’d fallen asleep after the fourth round, vaguely hearing Kinn’s voice calling for me, but I only had so much stamina.
I put on a clean robe, watching Kinn bustle about between his bedroom and his office. He was already dressed in his university uniform.
“How are you feeling, Porsche? Do you want to take the day off from school?” Kinn walked over with a glass of water and some medicine.
“Mm…I can handle it.” I obediently took the medicine from his hand.
Kinn smiled and gently stroked my head. “Have you stopped being angry with me?” he asked in a gentle tone, his gaze filled with so much warmth that I turned my face away from him.
“Mm-hmm…” I hummed my answer and drank the entire glass of water.
“Get dressed. You can catch a ride to university with me,” Kinn said, putting on his watch in front of the mirror.
“I can drive there myself,” I answered evenly.
“Like you can drive in your condition! Don’t be stubborn. And go take a shower!” Kinn’s voice grew irritated.
I scoffed before getting off the bed, grabbing my carefully folded shirt and heading to the bathroom. My legs still trembled, and I was walking kind of funny, but it didn’t hurt as badly as that first time.
“I’ll give you twenty minutes,” Kinn said. “Go wait out front when you’re done.”
I nodded and opened his door, looking left and right to check that no one was there before I hurried downstairs to my room.
Phew… Why was I sneaking around?
There was no one in my room. Chay probably went to school earlier in the morning. I felt a little guilty that I barely got to see my brother.
I quickly showered and got dressed, then headed over to wait for Kinn in front of the house. I saw a black luxury sedan already running and waiting for us, along with various bodyguards milling around.
Arm walked over and slung his elbow over my shoulder. “Are you okay?” he asked, worried. He’d probably seen me get attacked last night.
“I’m fine,” I said, standing there with my arms crossed. “What about my brother? Did you guys take good care of him?”
Arm nodded vigorously. “Your brother is the young master’s new favorite. They get along like a house on fire.”
I frowned, feeling sorry for my little brother. “Do they?! And Chay is happy?” I asked nervously. Tankhun was batshit insane! If Chay hung around him too long, he might go crazy or get depressed!
“Hmm…maybe. Hah! Don’t worry, we’re keeping an eye on them,” Arm said. “By the way, are you going to university with Mr. Kinn today?”
I nodded. He looked a little surprised, but he didn’t ask any further questions because Big was standing pretty close to us. Suddenly, Big walked straight toward me, clearly looking for trouble. At the last second, he walked past me and knocked into my shoulder, making me stumble.
“Heh,” he snorted.
“Hold up!” I shouted. I wasn’t going to let him off so easily. I turned back to look at him—he’d stopped walking, facing away from me. I shook Arm’s hands away and shoved Big from behind so hard that he fell forward onto the ground.
“Fuck you, Porsche!” Big said, glaring at me as his lackeys crowded around us.
Meanwhile, Arm had to hold his hand over his mouth to stifle his laughter. “Hey, you bumped into him first,” he pointed out.
Big shook with anger and surged forward to grab my uniform collar. I gave him a small smile and grabbed his collar in return.
“What?” I demanded.
“You want some of this?!” Big yelled back, his entire face red.
“Try me!” I shouted, slamming him into a pillar with all my might.
“Augh!” Big cried out, grimacing. He loosened his grip on my collar and tried to pry me off of him. But as my body recovered, so had my strength. I was still exhausted, but if I had to fight this stupid goon and his buddies, it wouldn’t be a problem.
“Let go!” Big yelled. I lifted him up by the collar until his feet no longer touched the ground. I hadn’t planned on messing with him, but he kept getting on my nerves.
Arm laughed. “Stay in your lane, Big, and don’t go looking for trouble with my friend anymore,” he said as he blocked Big’s lackeys from coming to help him.
“You’re just some rich boy’s pet!” Big snarled. I frowned, yanking his shirt and hurling him into the pillar again.
“What did you just say?!” I growled. I wasn’t letting this shit slide today. I wanted to pummel him into the ground. His words were getting on my fucking nerves! Don’t think you’ll escape my foot, you bastard!
“What is going on?” Kinn asked, emerging from the house. Everyone quieted down at once.
“Porsche…” Kinn called my name. I loosened my hold on Big and huffed. I was a little irritated that Kinn had interrupted me.
Big’s lackeys helped him up and he immediately opened his mouth to complain. “Mr. Kinn, he started it!” he said, coughing. I rolled my eyes and looked at Kinn.
“Get in the car, or we’ll be late for class,” Kinn told me. I smirked when I noticed that Kinn didn’t even glance at Big, who stared at me silently before he went to open the driver’s door for Kinn. I couldn’t figure out what expression Big was making, but I knew Arm looked extremely satisfied when I got in the passenger seat next to Kinn.
I fastened my seatbelt and looked at Kinn out of the corner of my eye as we sped away from the house.
“Did you want me to drive?” I asked. I’d forgotten that I should be the one driving him. He shook his head and smiled.
“I don’t want to work you too hard. I worked you hard enough last night.”
“The hell are you talking about?” I grumbled. I quickly looked out the window, resting my elbow against the edge.
“What happened back there?” Kinn asked, his eyes still on the road.
“Big shoulder-checked me, that fucker! He’s obsessed with fighting me,” I said and cursed softly. Kinn didn’t reply, which pissed me off further. “You think I started it?” I asked indignantly. Every time some shit goes down, Kinn loves to blame me.
“Nonsense,” he said as he stopped the car at a red light. He reached over to wrap his arm around my neck and pull me in, pressing a quick kiss to my forehead.
“The hell are you doing?!” I jerked my head back and pushed lightly at his shoulder.
