It turned out Alphas could get sick too. Hahaha. The fierce, dominant energy that usually radiated from Princess was completely gone, replaced by heavy, raspy breaths and a red nose, her heart beating in a slow, miserable rhythm under the covers.
Princess had caught a cold, and her loving girlfriend had to take care of her all day. It wasn’t easy looking after someone like Princess when she was sick. Her chest heaved with dramatic, shaky gasps every single minute, her eyes wide and full of exaggerated pain while her lungs pulled in short, congested puffs of air.
"I’m dying... I don’t think I have much time left, my darling," Princess said the moment Faye entered the room holding a bowl of soup. Her voice came out as a weak, raspy croak, her hand trembling dramatically against the blanket while her pulse thuttered a faint beat against her ribs.
"It’s just a cold, babe. You’re not dying." Faye said flatly.
"You are not a doctor. You know nothing. Even your grades aren’t good enough to apply for medical school." Princess countered instantly, her posture stiffening under the sheets as her chest rose in a sharp, indignant heave.
Faye paused for a second, staring at the girl. She froze right beside the nightstand, her eyes locking onto Princess as her breath locked straight up in her throat, her pulse spiking with sudden irritation.
It’s her girlfriend. The mother of her pups. The love of her life.
She repeated it in her mind because she was about to add a punch to that list.
Faye sat down beside Princess.
"Okay, this is broth and vegetable soup. Open your mouth babe," Faye said, blowing on the spoon before feeding her.
"I want candy. Nanny gives me candy when I get a cold." Princess whined loudly, turning her head away with a sharp tilt of her chin, her breathing coming out in small, stubborn huffs through her blocked nose.
"Well, I am not your nanny. I’m your girlfriend. Open up and drink. I don’t have all day. I also need to feed our actual children," Faye said, trying not to lose her patience. She held her ground, her eyes narrowing as her chest heaved with a sharp, warning breath.
"Candy... candy... give me my candy," Princess continued her tantrum. She wiggled her shoulders back and forth, her lungs pumping out rapid, dramatic puffs of air as she buried her face deeper into the pillows.....
"No candy. Only broth and vegetable soup." Faye commanded, her voice dropping into an unyielding frequency as her pulse hammered a hard, firm beat.
"I hate you." Princess pouted instantly, her eyes flashing with childish anger as she let out a loud, miserable huff.
And Faye was done. Her patience completely shattered in a single second, her lungs letting out a sharp, furious breath as she prepared to set the bowl down.
"Alright, I’m out of here." Faye barked, pushing herself off the edge of the mattress.
Before Faye could stand up from the bed, Princess grabbed her hand. Her fingers locked tight around Faye’s wrist, her chest rising in a fast, panicked gasp as her heart rate exploded with sudden fear.
"Please don’t leave me, I love you..." Princess said in the most childish tone. Her posture completely collapsed, her eyes shining with watery tears while her breathing turned short and desperate.
"Okay. If you don’t want me to leave, drink your soup before it gets cold." Faye said, her voice softening just a fraction as her own chest rose in a long, quiet exhale.
Princess nodded. Her chin dipped up and down rapidly, her pulse settling into a calm, submissive rhythm as she looked up at her girlfriend.
Faye began feeding her sick girlfriend. She brought the spoon back up, her hands moving with steady, careful precision while her lungs pulled in the quiet room air.
"My throat hurts... I don’t want it." Princess whimpered after a few mouthfuls, her head pulling back as her breath hitched painfully in her chest.
"Princess, do not turn me into a mommy bird, because I will shove this soup down your throat." Faye warned sternly, her eyes glowing with absolute seriousness as her lungs expanded with a sharp draft of air.
"No one shouts at me like that. You are too mean," Princess whined. She sniffled softly, her lower lip trembling while her chest rose and fell in small, shuddering gasps.
"Okay, okay. Sorry. What about this? For every successful sip, you get a kiss." Faye offered gently, leaning a fraction closer as her heart thumped a warm, affectionate beat against her ribs.
"I don’t want a kiss. I want candy." Princess protested, though her eyes flickered with interest, her breathing slowing down into a soft, curious pattern.
"You are rejecting my kiss? My kisses are sweeter than the candy you want." Faye teased, a small grin breaking across her face as her lungs pulled in a light, playful breath.
"How sweet are your kisses?" Princess asked softly, her gaze dropping to Faye’s lips while her heart rate gave a small, eager jump.
"Take one and find out." Faye murmured.
Faye leaned over and kissed Princess on the lips. The sweet, gentle press of their mouth made Princess’s breath catch straight in her throat, her chest swelling with a sudden, warm wave of comfort.
"Candy..." Princess whispered against her skin, her eyes shining brightly as her posture relaxed into the pillows.
"You don’t want my kiss." Faye smirked, pulling back just an inch while her breathing remained warm and close.
"Give me more candy... I want more candy..." Princess demanded softly, her hand tightening around Faye’s fingers.
"Alright then. A trade. One sip for one kiss." Faye agreed with a sweet nod, her pulse beating a smooth, rhythmic cadence.
And so they continued trading. The quiet bedroom filled with the soft scrape of the spoon against the ceramic bowl and the gentle sound of their breathing.
One sip. Princess swallowed the warm broth, her chest rising as she took the food.
One kiss. Faye leaned in immediately, pressing a warm, sweet kiss against her girlfriend’s soft lips.
Another sip. Princess took the next spoonful without a single complaint, her throat moving smoothly.
Another kiss. Faye’s lips lingered just a second longer, her heart swelling with deep affection.
Eventually, the bowl was empty.
Trying to feed Princess was harder than feeding the pups. Her shoulders slumped with sheer exhaustion, her heart hammering a fast, tired rhythm against her ribs as she looked down at the stubborn Alpha.
At least the pups didn’t stress Faye the way Princess was stressing her. She shook her head softly, her breathing coming out in a tiny, amused huff as she stretched her sore back.
Then it was time for medicine... And that was even worse.
"What is the meaning of this nonsense? Stop spitting the medicine out! You’re supposed to swallow it!" Faye shouted out in complete frustration, her hands waving in the air as her pulse boiled with rage.
That was the 15th time Princess had spat it back out. The small tablet landed on the bedsheets once again, Princess wiping her mouth while her lungs pulled in short, defiant puffs of air.
"Call Beam or Richard. They know the medicine I need," Princess said stubbornly, crossing her arms tight over her chest while her jaw set into a hard, rigid line.
"Who the fuck smokes medicine? You’re swallowing this before I whoop you." Faye barked violently, her hands slamming onto the edge of the bed as her chest heaved with wild, furious gasps.
"My mother never laid a finger on me. My Dada didn’t either. And neither did my Nanny. No one lays a finger on me. I am a precious jewel... my mummy’s precious gem." Princess stated proudly, her head tilting back as her breathing turned arrogant and completely unbothered.
"I really can’t believe this is how you act when you’re sick," Faye muttered, staring at Princess. Her eyes blinked in utter shock, her lungs letting out a heavy, defeated breath that made her shoulders drop.
That girl was testing every ounce of her patience. Her veins throbbed wildly at her temples, her heart thumping a frantic, overwhelmed beat against her ribs.
Under normal circumstances, Faye would have walked away by now.
But what was that saying again?
In sickness and in health.
They weren’t married. But they certainly acted like they were. The deep, unyielding bond between them held her glued to the side of the bed, her breathing slowly leveling out into a calm, steady rhythm.
Faye checked Princess’s temperature and tried every trick she could think of to make her swallow the medicine.
Since Princess wanted kisses so badly, Faye became a mommy bird, distracting her with kisses until she finally swallowed the tablets.
It wasn’t easy... But somehow, it worked. The tablet was gone, Princess letting out a soft, sleepy groan as her heavy eyelids began to flutter shut.
Afterward, Faye rubbed vapor rub onto Princess’s chest and sang her a lullaby. Her hands moved in warm, gentle circles over Princess’s skin, the sharp scent of menthol filling the room while Faye’s low, sweet voice hummed a quiet melody, her chest rising and falling in a soothing, hypnotic pace.
Finally, Princess drifted off to sleep. Her breathing slowed into a deep, peaceful pattern, her chest rising and falling in smooth, rhythmic waves as her whole body went completely limp under the warm blankets.
Only then did Faye leave the room to take care of the pups.
