"Hey, babe..." Princess said as she walked into the room. She pushed the bedroom door open slowly, her fingers lingering on the brass handle as her chest rose and fell with a long, cautious breath.
Faye and the kids were on the bed, all playing with their mommy.
Faye looked at her girlfriend, then returned her eyes to her pups.
"Hey..." Faye muttered. The word left her lips in a tiny, quiet whisper that barely carried across the tight space of the bedroom.
"How are you doing now?" Princess asked. She took a slow step forward...
"Good..." Faye replied.
Princess sat by the edge of the bed. The frame groaned slightly under her broad frame as she lowered herself down, her eyes scanning her girlfriend’s tense posture. She carried Ronny onto her lap. The boy started biting his Mama’s clothes. He had little teeth, but he still kept chewing on Princess’s shirt.
"About what happened last night..." Princess started, her deep alpha voice dropping into a low, gravelly tone as her chest expanded with a heavy breath.
"Don’t worry. I’m going to fix it. You have given us six months. That’s all I need. No need to add more words to it," Faye said. She cut her off instantly, her voice smooth and cold as she stared right at the sheets, her jaw setting into a rigid, stubborn line.
She had happened to overhear the conversation between Princess and Malo. She had been in the room, but her keen hearing allowed her to hear everything.
"Can I have my phone?" Faye asked. She held out her hand, her fingers steady as she finally looked up to meet the alpha’s eyes.
Princess returned Faye’s phone to her without saying a word.
Princess was trying to apologize for calling her those names. She had been angry and had tried as much as she could to control it. Her throat felt tight and dry, her mind racing with the image of Faye’s breakdown from earlier, her heart thumping a fast, guilty rhythm as she tried to find the right words to fix the damage.
She had never intended for Faye to have a breakdown.
"You know I never meant to call you all that," Princess said. Her voice cracked slightly, her shoulders slumping forward as she leaned closer to the bed.
"I know... but maybe it’s true. When I wanted an abortion, you were ready to be a mom, even though the pups were from the girl you never liked. You were celebrating while I was having a breakdown, thinking about what my life was going to be like if I kept the pregnancy. I was never ready from the start..." Faye murmured. Her breathing turned short and uneven, the past flaring up in her chest as she stared down at her lap, her fingers clenching into the bedsheets.
"But that’s all in the past." Faye stated firmly, her voice suddenly sharpening as she forced her chest to expand with a long, deep breath to stop the tears from falling.
"The only reason I started hunting Beast Morphs with Malo was because I wanted my pups to have a better life, a better home, but I didn’t think about the consequences. I never think about the consequences of my actions because I always survive every single day." Faye explained. She shifted her weight on the mattress, her posture straightening as the familiar, fierce determination came rushing back into her veins.
"You were born into wealth. I wasn’t. So people like us have to struggle to make a living. My brother struggled his whole life trying to make sure I grew up healthy. I was only trying to be independent so the people around me wouldn’t have to suffer because of me," Faye said.
Then she looked at her girlfriend properly.
"Don’t worry, Princess Kings. I won’t let my children die. And they are not just yours, they are mine too. Okay? You hear that? Mine. No Lycan or Alpha will come between me and them. You have no right to tell me what I deserve or what I don’t. I’m not the kind of mother who would put them in danger."
"Yes... you are right, you..." Princess started to say, her own chest rising with a quick, defensive breath as she adjusted the baby in her lap.
"I’d like to be alone, Princess." Faye interrupted, her tone turning completely flat and final as she pointed toward the door.
"Okay... if that’s what you want right now..." Princess muttered. She nodded her head slowly, her jaw locking as she prepared to stand up and give her some space to calm down.
"And I want to stay here... with my pups." Faye added, her eyes tracking the toddlers as they crawled around her legs.
"You want us to stay here?" Princess asked, her eyebrows drawing together in sudden confusion as she paused mid-movement.
"Not with you. I want to bond with them. Since you still look angry because of what I did, I need my time alone and you too." Faye said, her voice completely calm as she delivered the cold statement.
That came out of nowhere. The words hit the small room like a sudden slap, making the silence turn thick and heavy in an instant.
Princess had never expected to hear that from Faye. Her heart missed a completely vital beat, her breathing stopping dead in her throat as she stared at her girlfriend in total disbelief.
"Are you trying to break up with me or what are you trying to say?"
"I will never break up with you, Princess. You are the love of my life... but I need a break from you, and I hope you understand." Faye answered smoothly.
"How long?" Princess demanded, her deep voice trembling slightly with a mix of anger and fear.
"You gave us six months. That’s how long I will take to rectify my mistake." Faye said, her chin lifting into the air as she gave the final deadline.
"Six months... without my pups? What makes you think I will stay that long without them!?"
"You can still see them. You’ll see them at school. They can have their playtime with you after school at the clubhouse while my group and I work. I will never deprive them of you. You’ll still get to see your pups every day." Faye explained calmly. She didn’t flinch away from the alpha’s growing pressure, her breathing remaining perfectly level as she laid out the strict conditions.
That was a tough decision for Faye, but she wanted some time alone to think and fix the problem. Her heart was thumping a fast, painful rhythm against her ribs, but she forced her expression to stay deadpan and cold.
She didn’t want Princess to interfere because she knew Princess actually would, and the Lycan Prince might find out.
But Will Princess Be Able To Agree?
