Noah’s POV
"I can’t eat with him" I say firmly.
The interaction from my wedding day is seared in my brain. I really don’t know how I feel about him...was he comforting me or was he grooming me?
"You have to eat with him" Lucas says.
"I can’t, he scares me" I shake my head.
"You sleep in the same room with Elias, I’m sure you can share a table with the Luna. Come on" Lucas gestures to the door.
I half expect him to drag me, but he doesn’t touch me, he just waits for me to make my move.
Which I don’t...at least not for the first six seconds.
"Mr. Deus" he sighs.
"Noah. Just call me by my name" I say, crossing my arms across my chest and finally walking out the door.
It’s not like I have a choice on the goddess knows who Elias would kill next...
Lucas walks behind me like a ghost, and I hold on to the hoodie on my body. Everything is foreign, but at least I have something familiar on me.
And as much as I hate him, I’m clinging to the whisper of his presence. His scent.
"Here"
"I know the way" I snap quietly, heart rate slowly increasing as I walk down the hallway.
I deliberately keep my pace slow, taking my time to look at how the place is decorated. It’s different from the hell me and everyone else imagines.
There are pictures of flowers on the walls, there are painting of the sea and other marine motifs. There are designs of jellyfishes, seaweeds, mermaids and fishes.
Breathtaking is one word to describe the interior design. It feels more homely that a mansion this big should feel.
"Any day now Noah" Lucas says behind me dryly.
"Open" I say, and he opens the dining room door. I take a breath to prepare myself, smooth my cloths over and walk into the room with all the courage in me.
This is the same room where the brothers threw knives at each, but today it’s different. The room is bright, sunlight is pouring in from the windows and the Luna is sitting at the end of the table.
His long greying hair is on a low pony tail. His pale blue eyes are fixed on the glossy magazine in his hand. At the noise of my footsteps, he lifts his head to look at me.
"Noah" he says simply and I freeze.
I don’t know what to do with myself around him. He waves his hand to the chairs and I gulp before taking a seat that’s far from him.
"Do you like toast?" he asks.
"Yes...sir" I manage to whisper with a cracked voice.
"Avocado?" he asks and I nod, adam apple bobbing as I swallow.
I sit nervously, expecting a servant to bring my meal, but instead of that, Siren Deus gets out of his seat and brings the meal to me himself.
"This, and here" he passes a plate of bacon to me.
"My boys are all allergic to avocado, so I eat them only when they’re away" he says.
I take in his outfit. He’s wearing a simple polo and a washed out pair of jeans. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he looks like a tired mother of three grown up men.
Siren Deus, the scary omega who makes alphas rethink their entire life, the omega who singlehandedly ended the reign of a dictator...is serving me breakfast?
Is this the Deus’s family messed up way of getting me into trouble?
"Eat" he brings a plate of avocado closer to me and I watch him with fear.
’What is happening? Where is Elias?’ the warning bells go off in my head.
Goddess. Goddess. Goddess.
I chant in my head. Anxiety is slowly creeping up my spine, my heartbeat is growing irregular and I grip the end of the dining table.
"Elias says you’re interested in gardening" the older omega says as he returns to his seat. I can hardly keep up with what is happening.
"I never told him that" I say flatly and his lips lift into a smile.
"That’s the thing about my Eli. You don’t have to tell him anything, he always find out, and he’s almost never wrong" Siren picks his fork and pick a piece of egg.
"So...is he wrong about the gardening?" he asks.
No.
I used to love gardening at home. Well, that was until my dad said I’d marry rich and will have a Gardener...gardening is dirty work for an omega like me.
"No, he’s not wrong" I breathe out the truth.
"I was away for a while, and I noticed the garden is starting to die. I would have sworn one of my boys inherited my healing touch" he mutters the last part to himself.
Why is he acting so sane and so normal to me?
"You told me to suck it up so I can marry your son" I blurt and he blinks slowly like I just spoke a foreign language.
"Explain, Noah" he says and I get up to my feet, bracing myself by placing my palms on the table.
"I was scared, I was getting married to someone I hate...and you, you told me to suck it up. You can’t have breakfast with me like..." I say, gesturing to the food he places on front of me.
"...like this is normal" I complete my words.
"Isn’t it normal?" he ask in a calm voice.
"What?"
"This, breakfast between us...isn’t it normal?"
"Your son kidnapped me!"
"My son married you"
"He pointed at me and claimed that I belong to him"
"If Elias says you belong to him, then you belong to him"
"I don’t!" I yell and the door bursts open.
Lucas storm into the room, but his movement comes to a complete stop when Siren lifts his hand. Commanding him to stay in place without words.
"You have no idea what Eli has done for you" he says and I shake my head.
I don’t care. I really don’t care.
"Please...I don’t want to be here, I want to go back to my family...my home and my dad"
"This is your home now" Siren says in a cold voice that sounds almost like Elias’s. While Elias sounds like metal, his mother sounds like ice.
I fall back in my seat in defeat, starting at the food in front of me. The appetizing smell waft to me, but I don’t want to eat.
"Noah. Eat your breakfast" Siren says in a more gentle voice.
"Can I at least see my best friend? I need to know he’s okay" I try one last pleading.
The siren looks at me for a few minutes before sighing.
"Fine. Lucas, take him to see the prisoner. He has thirty minutes" he flicks his wrist and I drop my head.
At least I’d get to see Zane.
