This is an incredibly brief completed work that functions more as a prose poem than a traditional novel. Its primary strength lies in its atmospheric focus, successfully establishing a mood of historical despair within a very limited page count. However, the brevity is also its greatest weakness. With only five chapters, there is insufficient room for the relationship between Chen Shen and Shiwu to breathe or for the setting of 13th-century Xuegeng to be fully realized. The narrative feels more like a fragment of a larger idea than a cohesive story. Given the extremely low visibility and the minimal chapter count, it offers very little in terms of overall value for a reader looking for a substantial BL experience. It is a curiosity of mood rather than a developed piece of fiction.
