This completed BL work presents a compelling and grim premise that immediately hooks the reader with its stakes. The concept of a protagonist who inadvertently causes death creates a palpable sense of dread. However, the novel's primary weakness is its extreme brevity and apparent lack of structural polish. With only nine chapters, the narrative feels more like a conceptual sketch than a fully realized novel. While the tension is high, there is insufficient room for the relationship between Lin Jiu and Huo Yan to develop or for the world-building to expand. It serves as an interesting experiment in supernatural horror, but the abrupt nature of the delivery leaves the reader wanting more.
