Feng Feifei was left speechless!
She already considered herself an ambitious thinker, but she realized her ideas didn’t even come close to Chen Xiao’s.
If they actually pulled off Chen Xiao’s vision, she, Feng Feifei, would become a major figure in Huaxia’s high-tech world.
He even suggested she expand from their current R&D focus into high-end CNC machine tools, intelligent robotics, advanced medical equipment, sophisticated remote sensing gear, new materials and devices, and the low-altitude economy.
And to aggressively build a world-class research team!
He even pounded his chest, swearing that he would take care of securing the orders, and told Feng Feifei to create a five-year plan based on this new direction.
"Why don’t you be the general manager, Chen Xiao?"
Feng Feifei was a career-driven woman, but she preferred a more methodical, step-by-step approach.
She had never dared to dream of the grand goals Chen Xiao laid out. But now, stirred by his bold declaration, her heart was pounding. She decided then and there to join him in this madness.
"If we lose, the worst that can happen is we go back to how things were. But if we win, the two of us will become the ’power couple’ of the tech world."
Chen Xiao practically died of fright and quickly refused. ’This woman is always making a move on me! General manager? Who cares about that! All I want are orders and bonuses!’
’And what’s all this about a "power couple" like the Condor Heroes? The hero in that story loses an arm—are you trying to curse me? No way. I’d rather be the "Stud Hero" of our duo. I’ve got a gift for that, you know. My Endurance is already at 100!’
Feng Feifei had no idea what Chen Xiao was really thinking. He just wanted the company to expand its business so he could bring in more orders for himself!
Leaving Feng Feifei’s office, Chen Xiao congratulated Ma Jing, who was reviewing a contract with a representative from XX Company.
This left Ma Jing baffled. She thought Chen Xiao was teasing her, congratulating her on having more work to do.
She pouted and said, "You’re so shameless. You get the bonus, but I have to do all the work! I’m practically slaving away for you for free!"
After she said it, she noticed the representative from XX Company blushing and giving her a strange look. It took her a moment to realize the possible double meaning of her words, and her own face instantly turned crimson.
It wasn’t until that afternoon, when the human resources department sent out an email announcing commendations, that she finally understood what Chen Xiao had meant.
Ma Jing was promoted from P5 to P6 and also snagged the title of Assistant Team Lead for the business department.
Her salary also rose from 8,000 yuan to 10,000 yuan, which kept her happy for a long time. She had no idea that Chen Xiao’s base salary had already been raised to 20,000 yuan, or else she would have felt that familiar pang of injustice!
The other departments in the company were no longer surprised by any strange developments from the business department. With a freak of nature like Chen Xiao there, anything was considered reasonable.
But today’s email was a real head-scratcher. A department with only a handful of people establishing an "assistant team" was unheard of.
As one colleague put it, "The general manager only has one assistant, but Chen Xiao has a whole assistant team!"
Of course, this assistant team was nominally under Yuan Kai’s management. But how could Yuan Kai possibly manage Ma Jing? She followed Chen Xiao around like a puppy dog all day; since when had she ever treated Yuan Kai as her leader?
Chen Xiao was meeting Cha Lan for lunch. Cha Lan had originally wanted to treat him to dinner, but Chen Xiao had moved the appointment to noon.
He wanted to go home to Zhao Xiangjun that evening. The smell of alcohol on him always kept her awake, and even though she never mentioned it, Chen Xiao was especially mindful of it now.
Ever since Xu Wu left Zhi Fei Aerospace, Cha Lan had been feeling a bit uneasy.
He felt he had lost his link to Chen Xiao; indeed, Chen Xiao hadn’t visited Zhi Fei Aerospace once since Xu Wu’s departure.
He was wrong to blame Chen Xiao for this, though. Chen Xiao had never really liked going to Cha Lan’s office in the first place. The general manager’s office had people coming and going constantly, which made it an uncomfortable place to hang out.
Besides, he’d been busy handling matters at Junxiao Capital recently, so he had even less reason to make a special trip to Zhi Fei Aerospace.
Cha Lan had also invited Li Guoqiang and Yang Ming to lunch. The four of them made for a perfect table, and they could play a round of cards before the meal.
Now that the two of them had witnessed Chen Xiao’s true power, they were utterly respectful toward him, stopping just short of outright worship.
Cha Lan joked, "President Chen, you haven’t been by my office lately. I’ve lost my appetite, I can’t sleep at night... I’ve even lost my motivation to work!"
Chen Xiao laughed. "Cha, that’s just cringey. It might sound nice coming from a beautiful woman, but from you, it’s just creepy!"
Cha Lan said, "A beauty on President Xu’s level is a once-in-a-millennium find. I’ll never be able to find someone like that again..."
The men roared with laughter. Only Cha Lan, as Xu Wu’s former boss, could get away with making jokes about her.
Li Guoqiang didn’t dare joke about Xu Wu anymore. After all, the presence of a boss controlling billions in capital was now immensely powerful.
Sometimes, a single glance from her was enough to make a person feel immense pressure.
"Cha, you should start looking for a new office space, too. I get the feeling your current place won’t be able to meet your business demands for much longer."
Cha Lan’s eyes lit up. "President Chen, does this mean you have a big project to throw my way?"
"I’ll be signing a deal with you for close to 60 million in the next few days."
HISS! The others all sucked in a sharp breath. The way President Chen spoke of a sixty-million-yuan deal was so casual, as if it were nothing.
It was as if he were discussing something trivial. But then again, they remembered how he had thrown hundreds of millions into the Hongmeng Intelligent Selection Car project without even blinking.
Suddenly, his nonchalant attitude seemed perfectly natural.
’He’s on a completely different level now,’ they thought. ’Thank goodness we’ve managed to latch onto President Chen’s coattails.’
In front of the others, Yang Ming was now as docile as a lamb. He remembered how he had repeatedly used "business negotiations" as an excuse to ask Xu Wu out, only to be rejected every single time.
Now, learning that Xu Wu was managing such a massive enterprise, he couldn’t help but feel how arrogant and clueless he had been back then. It was a classic case of a toad lusting after a swan.
’A beauty of her caliber was completely out of my league.’
"Sigh," Li Guoqiang said self-deprecatingly. "After hearing President Chen’s numbers, I’m almost too embarrassed to bring up this six-million-yuan deal I’ve got."
"Don’t say that, President Li! Who ever complains about having too many orders? Besides, I’m counting on these to earn my bonus!"
He was telling the truth, but the others just roared with laughter. No one believed he actually cared about something so trivial; they all just thought President Chen was being a world-class poser.
"President Li, don’t laugh. I’m serious. If you have an order, let’s sign it in the next day or two!"
’This was directly tied to his mission completion rate. Judging by the system’s usual tricks, the higher his completion percentage, the more explosive the rewards would be!’
’The orders from the past two days, plus the additional 50 million from the Jiangzhou Design Institute, already totaled over 100 million. His completion rate was approaching 2000%, and he was starting to get excited about what kind of surprise the system had in store for him.’
’When the mission was issued, it specified that only orders *besides* the one from the Jiangzhou Design Institute would count toward the completion rate. That was referring to the original 50 million yuan order.’
’Therefore, the new 50 million yuan order from the Jiangzhou Design Institute was included. He had confirmed this with the system.’
Li Guoqiang smiled. "Don’t you worry, President Chen. When have I ever signed a deal with you without bringing the contract and the company seal? And I always pay as soon as it’s signed!"
’That much was true,’ Chen Xiao thought. ’Li Guoqiang was a stand-up guy.’
