“Okay, let’s get baking! Bring ’em on over!” “Yes, sir!!” When Kaito had finished baking all the pizzas, he took one plate for himself and then headed for the feast. When he appeared, a murmur spread among the gathered villagers. “All right, everyone, let’s eat!! Here it is, the hero’s pizza!!” The villagers made a beeline for the long-awaited treat. There was a moment’s silence, and then a great shout went up: “Whoooooooooooaaaaaaa!!” “It’s delicious!!” “What is this? What is this??” The elves’ faces lit up in ecstasy, and they turned their passionate eyes on Kaito. “This is the first time I’ve ever had anything so wonderful!” “What richness! I can practically feel it strengthening me!” “The flavor spreads through your mouth… It just keeps going and going!!” The elves were all but shaking with emotion. For the first time, Kaito really felt like a hero. “Th-thank you.” His heart pounding, Kaito took a slice of his own creation. It was the first pizza he had ever baked in his life… What would it taste like? “Ooh! That’s good!” His exclamation was abrupt, as the deliciousness filled his mouth. The first thing to reach his taste buds was the cheese, which had mingled with the olive oil. The rich flavor soon gave way to the acidity of the tomato sauce. And finally, there was the aromatic snap of the parjee. The crust smelled wonderful and was also fluffy. The salt gave it just the right amount of bite. Kaito was no elf, but he had to agree that this was the most delicious pizza he’d ever tasted. “Ow! It’s hot! But so good!” He must have been even more starved than he’d realized, because he could hardly stop his hand as it went back for slice after slice. Before he knew it, he’d eaten an entire pizza. “Ahhh… The sour tomato sauce, the sweetness of the cheese, and the smell of the parjee all come together, and it’s just… It’s just beautiful…” The traces of flavor lingering in his mouth and his full belly inspired genuine happiness. This is it… This is what I’ve always wanted to eat. The elves were now merrily toasting each other, their faces a much healthier color. Calories, huh?
