I hope you enjoyed reading The Misfortune Devouring Witch is Actually a Vampire?!
This was a fantasy story set in a fictional world. However, I intended for the homeland of our heroine’s ancestors to resemble Japan, and so this story features several items prominent in Japan several centuries ago.
For example, the black furisode kimono from the After Story being depicted as wedding attire was an actual custom taken from ancient Japan. I hope those aspects of the story were interesting for you.
I write novels here in Japan. I started writing in earnest after finding a website where you can submit your own novels three years ago.
Though I loved light novels and manga before then, I had never thought about trying to write my own. But it’s because of a site where I could easily write and release my work for readers that this book was able to be published. It’s also thanks to that site that I can continue to write for a living while raising my child.
Before that, I always thought I knew where my life was headed. I studied hard, graduated from college, found a job, got married…it was probably a pretty standard life. I love books, but never did I think I would see my own work on a store shelf.
But through one chance finding, one unconscious decision, I gained newfound courage and took the first steps to changing my life in a way I’m still realizing today.
I owe so much gratitude to that site, “Shousetsuka ni Narou” (Become a Novelist) and to Cross Infinite World, who proposed and are handling the English publication. I’m very excited that people in the US and other English-speaking countries will be able to read light novels.
There are likely those who believe that Japanese pop culture isn’t for adults. But I want my works to impact readers across their lifetimes.
So I hope to keep releasing works that I would want to read myself, for my readers to enjoy.
And I hope someday, I could provide someone else a life-changing chance of their own…
