Chapter 1579: 403: Preserving Dignity for Oneself (2)

5 min read

The pallid eyes without pupils were lowered at this moment, listening to the report from a scout prostrate on the ground below. The scout’s body trembled slightly, not from fear of the Snake Mother, but due to the lingering fear from observing the brief skirmish from afar:

"Great Snake Mother, one of our patrol teams discovered a team from the Alien Race at the edge of the Black Miasma Forest, leading to conflict. The opposition resisted fiercely but didn’t exhibit high combat power. The Power of Stone Condensation was highly effective, turning most targets into stone sculptures rapidly. Yet, in the end, three members of the Alien Race escaped using some kind of Blood Escape Technique that burns Qi Blood. Our warriors failed to intercept them."

After the report concluded, the hall fell into deathly silence, broken only by the hissing sound from the serpent’s hair.

The Snake Mother slowly raised her head, with pallid eyes showing no emotion, yet the cold suppression emanating from her caused the temperature in the hall to drop a few degrees.

"Escaped?" Her voice was low and hoarse:

"So... we’ve been exposed, and they also know part of our faction’s abilities."

She lightly tapped the Skeleton Throne beneath her with slender fingers covered in dense stone scales.

This clearly wasn’t good news.

The appearance of an unknown force near the territory meant that war could descend at any moment.

But deep within her heart, besides feeling some fear, there was also a surging greed and desire continuously growing.

In this brutal world, she always believed that the fastest way to rise is through plundering and devouring.

An unfamiliar race implies unknown resource reserves, and even a great deal of blood and energy that can be consumed.

If it can be devoured, the tribe will surely experience a leap in growth within a subsequent period.

But the premise of plundering is the ability to crush the opposition, rather than being counter-consumed.

Thinking this, the Snake Mother looked at her subordinates, her full head of serpent hair dancing with emotion:

"Give me the record of this race’s information."

Facing the Snake Mother’s command, the prostrate Gogong Clan warriors’ heads hung lower, and among his writhing serpent hair, a totally black little snake slowly swam out, slid down his low, bowed back to the ground, and then silently made its way to the high-up Skeleton Throne.

The Snake Mother’s pallid eyes were lowered, watching the little snake meander its way up the throne made of stone statues.

Finally reaching her front.

A strand of serpent hair on her head slowly lowered, gently touching the forehead of the recording snake.

Instantly, the battle scenes and energy fluctuation information from that time poured directly into the Snake Mother’s mind like a tide.

In the images, a member of the tribe exploring outside the city suddenly perceived a strange Qi Blood energy fluctuation upon exploring until a familiar scene.

It decisively concealed its presence and hid among the bushes, slowly approaching the direction from which the Qi Blood fluctuation came.

Soon, the tribe member in the images saw the silhouettes of the Alien Race approaching from afar.

Thus, a contact conflict erupted.

At the end of the scene, it watched as the three Spirit Breath Clan warriors transformed into blood light, swiftly disappearing into the sky, leaving behind only a chaotic battlefield and scattered stone fragments.

The Spiritual Connection broke at this moment.

The recording snake, appearing to have lost all energy, stiffened, fell from the throne, and shattered upon the bone ground below.

After reading the recorded content, the Snake Mother fell into contemplation.

The tribe’s accidental encounter with this small team from the Alien Race cannot serve as a basis for judging this race’s strength or their capacities for war.

But it could reveal some insights.

In the initial skirmish, this race’s combat performance was not outstanding, even lacking highlights.

Perhaps it is an Alien Civilization that could be hunted and plundered.

But the intelligence is still too scant, insufficient to clarify everything.

Perhaps the members are merely slave creatures of the clan behind them, unable to represent the war potential controlled by the entity behind them.

Amidst the swirling thoughts, fear and greed intertwined in the Snake Mother’s heart.

She yearns to wage war and revel in the pleasure of evolution brought by devouring.

Yet, as a ruler, her reason tells her that recklessly charging towards another unknown giant beast in the darkness is an exceedingly foolish decision.

Perhaps, when the giant beast shows its form, it will be the moment the Gogong Clan marches towards destruction.

"Dispatch all Stone Speakers and Shadow Snakes to investigate," the Snake Mother ultimately gave the order, a hint of determination flickering in her pallid eyes:

"I want to know everything about this race, including their tribe scale, Life weaknesses, Strength system... until their specifics are clear, halt any large-scale actions."

Upon saying this, the Snake Mother paused momentarily and then spoke with a chill in her tone:

"Simultaneously ensure all warriors within the tribe are ready. Only when confirmed that the Alien Race is not to be feared, our fangs will pierce their hearts."

The orders were swiftly communicated, and the entire Gogong Clan began to operate efficiently like a war machine.

Preparations to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the Spirit Breath Clan commenced.

Meanwhile, the Snake Mother coiled back onto the throne, gazing as if penetrating the walls of the Stone Nest, towards the direction of Spirit Breath City.

The caution flickering in her eyes did not conceal her greedy desires.

She could feel the restlessness emerging from deep within the nest, the bloodthirsty intentions of several war commanders already pressing in like substance.

The Gogong Clan reveres conquest and devouring; prolonged peace only causes internal pressure to accumulate.

She needs a war to release this force.

Either to plunder externally or to counter-consume internally, optimizing through self-devouring competition.

She yearns for the intelligence gained from the investigation to satisfy the Gogong Clan’s lust for slaughter.

...

While the Little Mage pondered solutions deep within the Royal Court, and the Gogong Clan prepared to initiate an investigation.
