Jocelyn Morgan’s heart skipped a beat, she quickly withdrew her gaze and continued tidying the table with apparent calmness, not daring to look up again. The expression in Eden’s eyes just now kept flashing in her mind. As a young girl, she was afraid. For the first time, she felt the heaviness of this man’s hostility, especially with the expression he wore just now. They often met before, but she hadn’t noticed... but today, he gave off a hellish feeling.
Could this eerie and cold aura be related to the changes in the situation?
Is Eden about to reveal his true self? Or is he planning to take action? What exactly is he contemplating?
Suddenly, Jocelyn heard footsteps. She looked up and saw Eden walking toward her, his cold gaze locked onto her.
She tried her best to restrain her inner panic, withdrew her gaze, and continued tidying the table.
But as Eden’s footsteps drew closer, Jocelyn’s heart seemed to leap to her throat.
Just as she was striving to stay calm, pondering what he might do or ask, and how she should respond, another set of footsteps approached from the other side.
Jocelyn turned her gaze and saw Ian Shelby coming into view, walking toward them.
Ian only glanced at her briefly, then looked toward Eden.
At that moment, Eden stopped his steps two meters away from Jocelyn and looked at Ian.
"Uncle, do you have time now?" Ian’s expression was slightly sad, his voice low, and his eyes glistened with evident tears.
Eden nodded and followed him out of the palace.
Before leaving, Ian looked calmly at Jocelyn.
Jocelyn watched the two figures departing, her anxious heart finally relaxed. That was really close just now.
Could it be that Ian has been hiding in the shadows observing Eden all along? He appeared so timely.
But what can she do for Ian?
Jocelyn thought again and again, then stepped toward the King’s chamber.
Leaving the palace hall, the sky was clear and the breeze gentle.
In the grassy meadow, Eden walked side by side with Ian. Both slowed their steps, intuitively knowing the nephew just wanted to chat.
Eden turned his gaze several times to observe Ian’s expression, so sorrowful, it stirred Eden’s heart.
He sighed lightly, reached out and grasped his nephew’s shoulder, "I know you’re feeling very sad, but given the circumstances, we should let go of life and death, so the living suffer less."
"I regret not spending a few more years with him," Ian said self-reproachfully, "It’s still hard to accept, seeing him like this today... Time seems short, and all I can do is accompany him quietly, never leaving his side, racing against time, trying to make a difference."
Eden sighed, raised his gaze to look at the sky, where a few white clouds floated, seeming to mirror the shape of sorrow.
"Then just stay with him," Eden said, "If there’s anything you need help with, or need me to deal with, just let me know."
"Uncle, there’s one more thing..." Ian hesitated, sighed, "I don’t want to be King." As if that was the main point of today’s conversation.
Eden stopped walking, turned more seriously, and looked at him calmly.
Ian halted as well and told his uncle, "I didn’t grow up in the royal family. Bearing the title of Prince, yet I’m merely a commoner; I don’t have the ability to govern a country well."
He completely denied himself, showing a lack of desire and ambition.
Eden was stunned for a full five seconds before recovering, and once again patted his shoulder, with a relaxed tone that bore less sadness, "This matter is easy to handle. If you truly don’t want to do it, then don’t."
