Chapter 1680: Ian Shelby Is Shocked

4 min read

He carefully reached in with both hands and pulled out the box, immediately recognizing it as his own. Could he have gone to the pharmaceutical research lab?

Ian Shelby was very pleased. He quickly opened the box, feeling extremely excited inside.

Justin Kingston was really smart, never disappointing him. There must be additional surprises inside this box.

Sure enough, the moment he opened the box, he immediately saw a medicine bottle inside, filled with liquid, with a scale marked on the bottle.

Under the bottle, there was a handwritten letter, and upon opening it, he saw it was in Mia Lane’s handwriting.

The general content explained that she had tested the food, and it contained no poison at all.

But, based on Ian’s description, she predicted the toxin involved and developed an antidote.

Ian held the timely medicine as if seeing a glimmer of hope, thinking that conducting research there would definitely be more convenient than here.

Moreover, Mia had written the antidote formula on the paper.

Ian trusted Mia’s judgment deeply, even though there was no clinical trial proof, his father’s health was already in extremely poor condition.

To put it harshly, his father’s situation was like trying to save a dead horse by treating it as if it were alive.

He would not miss any glimpse of hope.

Ian put down the medicine bottle and discovered that there was a phone in the box, and it was turned on, with no password set.

He opened it to have a look and found that it was a special phone capable of preventing eavesdropping.

The contact list still had Mia Lane’s phone number saved.

Ian glanced at the locked door, then went to the window and dialed the saved number.

Since it’s saved, it can be dialed.

At this moment, Mia was at home with her children.

The phone suddenly rang. She picked it up from the coffee table and took a quick look at the caller ID before telling the kids, "You guys look at your picture books for a bit, mommy’s going to take a call, don’t be noisy, okay? Keep it down."

"Okay." The kids replied in soft voices.

Saying that, she got up and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window, about 20 meters away from the kids, and slid to answer, "Hello, Ian, did you see the medicine?"

"Master, I saw it." Ian’s voice was calm, but he was still very excited inside, "Thank you."

"You’re welcome. It’s nothing, really. This phone of yours can prevent eavesdropping. It’s a product developed by The Kingston Group themselves and has been tested over a dozen times. You can use it without worry, there’s no problem calling me, but don’t call Jocelyn, her phone might be monitored," Mia reminded him.

"I understand." Ian would remember, "Thank you."

"At the bottom of the box is a photocopy of a handwritten medical book, which is my master’s lifelong research."

Ian went over to the desk and started searching through the box.

She said, "Inside there’s a method of poisoning. One of the cases is particularly similar to what you described, so I based the medication on that, and I’ve written the prescription on a note. You should take a look at the book when you have time. I’ve marked the important parts. Try using this medicine on the King first and observe."

"Okay." Ian pulled out the photocopy of the handwritten medical book from the box.

He just casually flipped through it and was overwhelmed!

"I saw your annotations; they do match my father’s condition exactly! His stomach has already started to atrophy, and he eats very little."

"So, do you think this is a coincidence?" Mia couldn’t help feeling a bit somber.

"No, the similarity is too eerie!" Ian finished reading the page, and his chest tightened suddenly.

He suddenly had a strong premonition, "Is there another copy of this book? Who else has seen it? The poisoning method is very safe, with an incubation period of up to ten years. It’s very insidious and hard to detect."
