"BOOM——"The world-ending explosion filled every inch of the church’s interior in that instant.
"You finally showed up, now make it count," the Follower said over the Dungeon-to-Dungeon comms. "Turn that bastard who trampled all over my ideals into so much minced meat. Gedwin, you can do it, right!"
But just before his own vessel-weapon turned to ash and vanished, Viskasa’s voice once again echoed into his mind.
[Demon King]
"He’s still alive! Keep attacking, don’t stop, hurry up and pound him to death!" The Follower screamed like he’d just seen a ghost.
Time in the Fire Dragon’s eyes suddenly flickered light and dark. As the flicker passed, all the explosion smoke filling the church was completely wiped away. The inside of the church looked untouched, even the people hanging from the ceiling were all still alive.
"Roar?"
It suddenly realized that the arm it had smashed down in front of it couldn’t move at all—locked in place by a tremendous force!
Red Teeth relayed everything the Fire Dragon saw to the other City Lords in real time. Through its eyes, everyone saw Viskasa’s hand gripping that Dragon Claw.
Heiniss let out a "Huh?" and said, "So that’s the Pope of the Holy Light Church... didn’t think he’d look this fashionable."
"Guh... he’s actually a hottie..." Irene bit at her nails in jealous frustration. "I’m gonna kill him."
"No! That guy’s changed! Be careful!" The Follower shouted immediately.
[You ever been kicked by light?]
That steady yet brimming-with-vitality voice sounded right by the Fire Dragon’s ear.
The very next moment, the feed from the Fire Dragon plunged into pure darkness. Red Teeth’s link with it was cut in an instant. No one had seen what happened.
"It’s dead."
Red Teeth mourned for a heartbeat, then said:
"Commence bombardment!"
The inside and outside of the Holy Light Church were on a completely different level of durability. The Sky Comet Dragon swept out of the light pillar, tearing the roof off the church, and right after that, the Fire Dragons circling in the sky above hurled down one bizarre plant after another, all grown in Cangyin Dungeon, at the target below.
Those plants looked so grotesque you could barely tell what they originally were, but without exception every single one had Destruction Mushrooms as its base, hybridized who knows how many times!
"Go!" Heiniss couldn’t wait to see those multicolored mushroom clouds rising.
At that moment, the whole world suddenly went black—no light at all, the purest pitch darkness.
When the City Lords watching this scene were plunged into that darkness, an extreme emotion welled up in every one of their hearts out of nowhere.
It was a feeling called "panic," and not even the usually rock-steady Red Teeth was spared.
What let them catch their breath was that this darkness only lasted for an instant before ending. But that instant of extreme panic shattered their thoughts, derailed their emotions, and scrambled their minds. Even when the world lit up again, none of them could recover right away.
"What’s wrong with you guys?"
Gong Qiying suddenly noticed that the Dungeon comm channels had gone dead silent, while he himself was completely unaffected, with no idea what the City Lords had just gone through.
To operate at peak performance, he had deliberately shifted over to the scenic Fire Transmission Ceremony grounds, sitting by the bonfire to coordinate with everyone.
He didn’t know what the City Lords had just suffered, but he was seeing something that in theory should be impossible.
The rainstorm of hybrid Destruction Mushrooms that had been falling all over the mountains had all vanished. Not a single one remained.
The Holy Light Church didn’t even have the slightest trace of an explosion. Those Destruction Mushrooms hadn’t managed to inflict any damage at all—they had just suddenly and inexplicably disappeared!
"This really is the first time I’ve seen an ability like that."
Gong Qiying looked at the massive Fire Dragon lying collapsed in the church. Its head was gone, and the severed neck was charred, as if some immense Magic Power Light Cannon had instantly blasted it to ash.
And standing atop the Fire Dragon’s corpse was the enemy they were here to take down—Viskasa.
"That’s a textbook Demon Clan look," Gong Qiying said.
Viskasa now looked nothing like the kindly old Pope from before.
Instead, he appeared as a towering, muscular, dark-skinned young man.
Holy Light unfurled like fluttering cloth, wrapping around that feral body, with great slabs of bulging muscle exposed. The contrast between light and shadow made his whole image even more visually explosive, while his wild, white, bristling long hair added an extra layer of mystery.
If not for the pair of black horns sprouting from his forehead and the black tail swaying behind him, he would just look like a human youth with darker skin.
A towering tide of Demon Qi poured out of that near-perfect body, so dense it had become almost tangible, drifting like ribbons that intertwined with the Holy Light cloth.
Gong Qiying could honestly say that even if you bundled together every Demon Clan member he’d ever seen and pulped them, the Demon aura wouldn’t be as pure as what was radiating off this guy.
Viskasa’s conversation with the Follower had already been fully shared with the City Lords, so this current姿态 of his—
Was this the "Demon King" he wanted to become?
So this is what the legendary Demon King looks like!
Gong Qiying had met plenty of people who wanted to become gods, but someone aiming to become a Demon King—this was his first.
Viskasa, once a stray Consciousness Avatar of the Light God, now actually wanted to cast off his status and become a mere mortal Demon King?
From an outsider’s perspective, such an idea was utterly baffling—but Viskasa himself looked more spirited than ever.
