Based on all sorts of intel they had gathered in the Sain Dungeon, plus the series of battles carried out by the Revive Association, they came to a conclusion. Tomb King Nite was a genuine shut-in.
The guy didn’t seem particularly good at fighting—at least compared to the other King’s Soul holders.
Judging from the footage of his first appearance in the public eye: White Dragon Heiss slaughtered Ancient Dragons piled like mountains, the Izalith Witches raised world-sweeping flames, Gwyn and his army of supermodel-tier troops went without saying, whereas Tomb King Nite...
was just casting Death Miasma.jpg
Granted, if not for Death Miasma giving the Ancient Dragons the concept of death, the other King’s Soul holders really would’ve had no way to deal with the dragons for a while. But if you looked closely, you’d notice something.
Why are all of Nite’s kills just kill-assists?
And judging from the later intel collected by the Revive Association, Tomb King Nite did quite a lot after the war ended, but none of those things had anything to do with fighting.
Compared to a warrior, his performance was more like that of a missionary, a missionary spreading death.
Combining that with their previous combat experience against him, the Revive Association reached this conclusion—combat was not Tomb King Nite’s strong suit.
This wasn’t meant to belittle his Combat Power. No matter how you put it, Tomb King Nite was still a dignified holder of a King’s Soul; the might he possessed was a peak that ordinary people could never reach. Saying he wasn’t good at fighting was only in comparison to Gwyn and the others.
Even so, this conclusion still added a bit of confidence for Leon and the rest.
"Awooo—"
Now larger than Tomb King Nite himself, and able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Overlord Wonier, Little Vonier let out a roar at the original Dead One before it.
Viscous black mud seeped from its pallid bones, constantly dripping downward. In the blink of an eye it pooled into a patch of black, murky water, and it was still spreading.
After Tai Fengli’an’s meticulous cultivation, it had become stronger than before. The Abyss-like black mud it mimicked had grown even more invasive, and now it could take on an entire army by itself.
As if they had agreed in advance, everyone scattered away from Little Vonier, splitting into two relatively tight groups. This formation was so that Hades could use the Crystal Ball to protect everyone at any time.
"Hahaha, show them your power, my proudest creation!"
Tai Fengli’an spread his arms and laughed high-spiritedly, the gesture as if he were about to embrace Tomb King Nite.
Little Vonier had been defined by him as the strongest Undead, capable of toppling armies and destroying cities, and as luck would have it—
Tomb King Nite just so happened to also have an army.
The moment Little Vonier appeared, Tomb King Nite slowly raised the Tomb King Sword in his hand, and the ground immediately began to tremble. Strange rumblings sounded again and again from the earth beneath their feet.
"Now, attack!"
The people, who had rehearsed this moment more times than they could count, seized their chance and launched an assault on Tomb King Nite.
Little Vonier opened its giant, spike-lined maw and was the first to spit out a compressed, beam-like Spiritual Fire breath at the enemy. An attack like this could even crack Vonier’s bracelet in one go.
The exaggerated cloak behind Tomb King Nite suddenly pasted itself over his front, as if thickened to the extreme, Death Miasma formed a flowing Protective Shield around him, seventy to eighty percent of it stacked over his chest to defend against this breath.
Its defensive power really was insanely tough, completely blocking the Spiritual Fire breath in front of him; this highly piercing breath showed no sign of breaking through the defense.
But this was also something the adventurers had predicted.
Little Vonier’s move here was precisely to draw most of that defense!
Leon flicked a Flying Knife forward in a probing throw; the Enchanted Flying Knife, bearing a Magic Power attribute, automatically locked onto the weak spots in Tomb King Nite’s bones. The blade, flashing pale blue light, immediately flew straight for them.
However, the moment it touched the lingering Death Miasma, the pale blue glow that signified the enchantment was suddenly erased, like a doodle wiped away with an eraser. In the end, what struck the bone was just an ordinary Flying Knife.
"Just like the Necromancers said."
Without doubting it at all, Leon, the fastest among them, had already rushed to the edge of the Death Miasma and swung the weapon in his hands at the enemy.
Not a Reverse Sword, not a Calia Knight Sword, and not Ring Capture, but a Morning Star Hammer.
[Prayer Strike]!
Golden light of holy attribute wrapped around every spike of the Morning Star Hammer, carrying tremendous force as it slammed straight into Tomb King Nite’s knee joint.
The instant it touched the Death Miasma, the holy light was directly weakened by more than half, and the impact felt like swinging a weapon into water—deeply unpleasant. With a muffled "thud," it hit! Leon’s entire body trembled from the recoil, while Tomb King Nite didn’t budge an inch!
He could see fine cracks appear on the opponent’s bone, but they were only about the size of a thumb. Cracks of that level weren’t even enough to chip off any fragments.
Other than that, the holy attribute enchantment, weakened to the point of almost not existing by the miasma, left scorched-like marks around the cracks, but that little bit of damage had almost no effect overall.
"Damn it." Leon gritted his teeth, but there was nothing he could do about it; he could only grit his way through the fight like this.
