Jacob Smith’s mouth moved a bit before he finally managed to say, "Charles Seymour, you’re still as annoying as ever."
Charles Seymour picked up the cup of tea that the maid had just brought and took a leisurely sip before saying, "You too."
Jacob Smith’s forehead throbbed, this guy... really needs a beating.
If he could beat Charles Seymour, he would have done it ages ago!
This thought flashed through Jacob Smith’s mind, causing him to feel a faint pain.
It’s not that they haven’t fought, quite the opposite, they’ve fought many times. The outcome each time... humph, he’d rather not remember.
"Sophie personally cooked for me!" Jacob Smith boasted.
Charles Seymour glared at him.
Jacob Smith became even more smug: "Ah, Sophie is just so good to me."
"Of course," Charles Seymour said, "She has always been sympathetic to the weak."
"Who’s weak?" Jacob Smith slammed the armrest and glared angrily at Charles Seymour.
In response to Jacob Smith’s anger, Charles Seymour just curled the corner of his mouth, with no expression on his face, but Jacob Smith could distinctly feel the deep disdain coming from Charles Seymour.
Jacob Smith narrowed his eyes dangerously, this Charles Seymour is really, really, still so detestable!
"Weak or not. Anyway, Sophie will take care of me." Jacob Smith shamelessly admitted without any limits, "If it weren’t for that kidnapping incident, how would I have met such a wonderful Sophie?"
"Sophie is my angel, oh, my beautiful angel!"
Charles Seymour glanced disdainfully at Jacob Smith and said flatly, "Sophie doesn’t believe in religion and besides, she’s Oriental."
"Hmph, it’s a metaphor, don’t you understand?" Jacob Smith glared resentfully at Charles Seymour, who always opposed him.
The maid quietly moved to the side and asked the butler in a low voice, "Shouldn’t we inform Miss Wilson? It seems the atmosphere between the gentleman and the guest isn’t too good."
The butler glanced at the two people sitting in the living room and thought the maid had understated it—what do you mean "not too good?"
It’s clearly tense, like they’re about to jump up and beat each other up at any moment.
The butler coughed slightly and said, "It’s fine, go about your business."
The maid worriedly glanced at the living room but followed the butler’s instructions and left.
The butler wasn’t concerned; with Miss Wilson here, those two definitely wouldn’t start fighting.
He’s increasingly convinced that Miss Wilson is the stabilizing force here; as long as she’s around, the gentleman can’t cause any trouble.
While the butler was thinking this, Sophie Wilson emerged from the kitchen, spotting the people in the living room, she happily ran over and jumped!
Charles Seymour quickly got up, wrapped his arms around, and effortlessly caught Sophie Wilson.
"How come you came back?" Sophie Wilson asked excitedly and planted a big kiss on his cheek.
The gloom brought by Jacob Smith was completely dispelled by Sophie’s kiss.
Charles Seymour held a faint smile on his lips and said, "Jacob specifically came over, so naturally, I had to rush back to host him."
Ja-Jacob?
Jacob Smith was dumbfounded.
This dishonest Charles Seymour, when did their relationship become so good?
What a hypocritical man!
"Exactly, it’s been years since Charles and I last met, it’s the perfect time to catch up." Jacob Smith said with a smile, showing no trace of his true feelings.
