"What gives you the right not to return? You’re my son!" Ethan Seymour was visibly displeased upon hearing James Reed’s words.
"Seymour Corporation should rightfully have a place for you!" Ethan was resolute about this, "You don’t need to say more, I will definitely have you come back."
"Dad, I’m outside..."
"You be quiet, I’m the one who decides this matter!" Ethan declared firmly, as it pertained to his dignity.
"Dad, you truly don’t need to make this difficult." James advised.
"If I can’t even protect my own son, do I deserve to be called a dad?" The more James tried to persuade, the more determined Ethan’s stance became. "Don’t worry about it."
"Alright." James hesitated for a moment, but eventually nodded, "I’m just worried that the fact that Sophie Wilson is friends with Mr. Nelson will be brought up to Grandpa. By then, who knows what those board members will say."
"Those guys are just full of themselves." Mentioning the board members put Ethan in a bad mood. If it weren’t for those guys, James wouldn’t have been so unfortunate, getting kicked out of the Seymour Corporation. "Alright, I’ll take care of it. You’ve been busy all day, so get some rest early."
"Mom and Dad, you should also rest early." After saying that, James picked up his bag and went to his room.
Once James was inside, Hayley Cole’s door opened just a crack. She peeked out through that small gap, with red-rimmed and weary eyes, a schadenfreude smile played on her lips.
Are James and the others in trouble?
Serves them right!
Luke Nelson appeared at the White Corporation’s cocktail party in the Imperial City, and such news really didn’t even take an hour to spread in the business circles of the Imperial City.
The White Corporation had originally arranged this grand party to build up Chloe White, and now, with Nelson’s presence, it certainly made a deep impression on everyone regarding Chloe White.
However, the reason for this deep impression was far from what Chloe White initially envisioned.
She was supposed to be the focus of this party, to let everyone see her returning triumphantly, originally meant to be a dazzling comeback. In the end, she actually became Sophie Wilson’s sidekick.
Calling her a sidekick would be a compliment; she became nothing more than a stepping stone for Sophie Wilson.
How could this happen?
"Chloe?" Edward White looked concernedly at his daughter, who had been dazed ever since returning. The events of tonight were truly distressing.
They had put together such a big event, yet it ended up benefiting Sophie Wilson. Truly, it was...
It’s no wonder Chloe was feeling so upset. Edward himself felt clogged up inside.
"Dad." Chloe White snapped back to reality and said with a smile, "I’m fine. Dad, you’re also tired today, so rest early."
"As for the cooperation with G Corporation, don’t worry too much. If it works, it works; if not, then forget about it." Edward White said indifferently, "Our company doesn’t lack that bit of business."
"Hmm, I know." Chloe White nodded with a smile. After seeing Edward off, as soon as she closed the door to her bedroom, her smile immediately collapsed.
Under these circumstances, how could Charles possibly notice her?
No matter how tumultuous the Imperial City business circles were, Sophie Wilson wasn’t affected in the slightest. She slept until she naturally woke up, enjoyed a good breakfast, and after a workout session at the gym, it was already ten-thirty.
The butler came to the gym to find her: "Miss Wilson, Mr. Smith has come over."
"Oh, let him wait a moment, I’ll take a shower and then go over." Sophie Wilson said, wiping sweat off with a towel.
