With job assignments coming up soon, Gu Lingling had been busy at school these days dealing with graduation matters. Their year was the first batch of graduates after the reinstatement of the college entrance exam, and they were getting a lot of attention from society.
Not long after she came out of the department office, she actually ran into Guan Fangbin.
"Gu Lingling." Seeing her, Guan Fangbin called out to her with a smile, "Long time no see."
He had originally wanted to chat with her more often, but this girl seemed to be even busier than he was, always a fleeting dragon—here one second, gone the next.
"Long time no see." Gu Lingling said with a smile, then glanced behind him. "Where’s Xiao Xiao?"
"She’s busy with her own stuff, seems to have a get-together today." Guan Fangbin said with a smile. "So? Want to grab a coffee?"
"That won’t do," Gu Lingling nodded as she teased him, "your girlfriend is so pretty. If you don’t keep a close eye on her and someone else starts chasing her, what then?"
"So that’s how your Grand Commander at home is?" Guan Fangbin teased her back.
Over these four years, what the single dogs at school had eaten the most was the dog food she and Yang Yunhai kept sprinkling.
By now, everyone at Kyoto University knew that Gu Lingling had a fiancé, and he was a soldier—handsome and capable to boot.
"Yep." Gu Lingling admitted generously. "You do have to keep a close eye."
Guan Fangbin burst out laughing. "Fair enough."
"Job assignments are right around the corner. What’s your plan?" Guan Fangbin asked her.
"Haven’t really decided yet." Gu Lingling said with a smile. "But I might go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
She wanted to keep running the training program, but Yang Yunhai’s suggestion was that she should first spend a few years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and get a feel for the outside world.
Gu Lingling’s training program was going really strong; they were already running pilot classes in several military regions, recruiting kids from the local military compounds to tutor those about to take the college entrance exam.
She had discovered a problem: the kids’ English level was way too poor.
Some didn’t understand a word of English and had never been exposed to it before.
So a thought came to her—she wanted to start a training program specifically targeting this area.
But that wasn’t something she could rush.
"What about you?" Gu Lingling asked him.
"Me?" Guan Fangbin tilted his head back and looked at the sky. Just then, a little bird flew overhead. He watched it with envy and said, "I’m planning to go check out Shenzhen."
"Actually, I already went during the New Year." Guan Fangbin said. "I want to go and make a go of it."
"Which direction are you thinking of starting from?" Gu Lingling asked him.
The reason she knew of Guan Fangbin was, first, because he’d be the future richest man, and second, because the news about Fang Xiaoxiao’s suicide in her previous life had shocked her too much.
But as for which field Guan Fangbin had started in, the her of that last life had been too out of touch with information, so she really didn’t know.
"Me..." Guan Fangbin shoved both hands into his pockets and said with a smile, "Your cousin got poached. Do you know by whom?"
He didn’t answer her question; instead he brought up Zhao Xuefei.
Who had poached Zhao Xuefei?
Of course it was Yang Yunhai.
This was something Gu Lingling only learned later.
Yang Yunhai and Zhou Yutao had set up an electronics company in the Capital City, and Gu Lingling only found out when it was established.
"That guy really has vision." He had originally been optimistic about that area too, but the person he’d had his eye on had been poached, and on top of that the other side had strong backing he couldn’t compete with, so Guan Fangbin figured he’d better go take a look at Shenzhen first.
After all, he had way too many ideas swirling around in his head right now.
